marshals to the Southern border to give water to illegal immigrants is being attacked for its impact on the safety of passengers and crews.<\/p>\n<p>In March 2023, Severo Torres was subdued by passengers aboard a United Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Boston after he tried to stab a flight attendant and attempted to open a door of the plane, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcboston.com\/news\/local\/man-accused-of-violent-attack-on-flight-to-boston-found-not-competent-for-trial\/3088619\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Sonya\u00a0LaBosco, a retired supervisory federal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-trades-air-security-border-control-air-marshal-warns-another-9-11-workforce-decimated\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">air marshal<\/a> who speaks for the Air Marshal National Council, said that was a prime example of the risks the policy presented, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/07\/05\/us-news\/united-in-flight-attack-could-have-been-avoided-if-air-marshals-werent-at-border-union\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Air marshals were sent to the border at the time, which meant that when violence erupted in the air, the passengers and crew were on their own.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">REPORT: Union says the major in-flight attack on a United Airlines flight could have been avoided if air marshals weren\u2019t deployed to the southern border to take care of illegals<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause we had deployed air marshals to the border, there was no air marshals on that flight\u201d\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/unlimited_ls\/status\/1809373923533844933?\">July 5, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cBecause we had deployed air marshals to the border, there was no air marshals on that flight,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo our worst fears were coming true every day with the in-flight incidents that were occurring that air marshals would have been on those flights to keep passengers from being injured,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>LaBosco said the duties air marshals were given at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/border-patrol-union-humiliates-biden-middle-debate-endorsement-claim\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">border<\/a> were \u201cabsolutely ridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat day \u2014 and any other day \u2014 air marshals have been deployed to the border, they\u2019ve been there merely \u2018handing out water, making sandwiches, Uber Eats runs \u2026 bringing diapers and stuff into the facilities and unloading trucks,\u2019\u201d LaBosco said.<\/p>\n<p>LaBosco said relaxing air security while millions of illegal immigrants are roaming the country is an invitation to have the next 9\/11.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/major-british-newspaper-advocates-bringing-back-rationing-to-fight-global-warming\/\" title=\"Major British Newspaper Advocates Bringing Back Rationing to Fight Global Warming\">long-haul flights<\/a> are super important for us to be on because those are the same flights the 9\/11 hijackers actually targeted and took that day on 9\/11.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oig.dhs.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/assets\/2024-07\/OIG-24-35-Jul24-Redacted.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> from the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Homeland Security said that the Transportation Security Administration, which oversees air marshals, \u201cdid not perform a risk assessment to determine the operational impacts of air marshal border deployments on transportation security.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithout establishing performance measures and assessing risks related to deploying air marshals, TSA cannot ensure deployments did not impact FAMs\u2019 mission to mitigate potential risks and threats to our nation\u2019s transportation system,\u201d the report stated. FAMs is an acronym for the Federal Air Marshals Service.<\/p>\n<p>The report said that although officials of the Federal Air Marshals Service said that deploying air marshals to the border did not compromise <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-total-teamwork-passengers-apprehend-man-attempted-stab-flight-attendant-cross-country-flight\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">flight safety<\/a>, the marshals themselves who responded to a survey contradicted that opinion.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Yesterday, Mayorkas doubled down on diverting Federal Air Marshals from protecting Americans on commercial flights to perform administrative duties at the Southern Border. Unacceptable. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/YSQUasqnU4\">pic.twitter.com\/YSQUasqnU4<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ashley Hinson (@RepAshleyHinson) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepAshleyHinson\/status\/1778507213784412229?\">April 11, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWith respect to costs, TSA incurred approximately $45 million in travel and payroll costs associated with the deployment of air marshals to the Southwest border from May 2019 to August 2023,\u201d the report said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTSA could not assess the operational impacts to its primary mission of safeguarding the Nation\u2019s transportation system while TSA deployed air marshals to assist U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the Southwest border.
