This means doctors, nurses, pharmacists, counselors, and many other medical professionals will soon practice in multiple states without applying for new licenses every time.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s an important step that could attract these in-demand workers from other states, said Rep. Frank Burns, D-Johnstown, who sponsored the legislation and chairs the House Professional Licensure Committee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnyone who has waited hours or even days in an emergency room or had trouble finding a professional that is taking new patients will welcome this legislation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legis.state.pa.us\/cfdocs\/billInfo\/billInfo.cfm?sYear=2023&#038;sInd=0&#038;body=H&#038;type=B&#038;bn=2200\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>new compact<\/strong><\/a> would also expand health care access in the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecentersquare.com\/pennsylvania\/article_e52509ca-1223-11ef-9dc6-4fdfe110950b.html\">state\u2019s rural communities<\/a><\/strong> and help meet the increasing demand of an aging population and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/study-shows-pandemic-increased-new-yorks-labor-decline\/\" title=\"Study Shows Pandemic Increased New York\u2019s Labor Decline\">shrinking labor pool<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Legislators say the demographic spiral is at the heart of Pennsylvania\u2019s most pressing economic decisions, and addressing <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecentersquare.com\/pennsylvania\/article_aebf9fd8-13bf-11ef-a38d-ffccb049e578.html\">medical system inequities<\/a><\/strong> starts with affordable colleges and lucrative careers after graduation.<\/p>\n<p>As such, the Senate also <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecentersquare.com\/pennsylvania\/article_79fd0d86-37fe-11ef-8bf1-1b905b011abc.html\">advanced a plan<\/a><\/strong> this week to allow <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecentersquare.com\/pennsylvania\/article_44a06a00-dcd4-11ee-9fc0-6fdb59397707.html\">certified nurse practitioners to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nurse-practitioner-authority-approved-in-senate-committee-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Nurse practitioner authority approved in Senate committee - Washington Examiner\">offer primary health care services<\/a><\/a><\/strong> in rural counties after fulfilling a three-year, 36-hour collaboration agreement with a physician.<\/p>\n<p>Prime sponsor Sen. Camera Bartolotta, R-Washington, said doing so would bridge the gap for 3.6 million residents.
