Gerry Connolly (D-VA) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/politics\/live-news\/biden-trump-election-07-05-24\/index.html#:~:text=Democratic%20Rep.%20Gerry%20Connolly%20of,George%20Stephanopoulos%2C%E2%80%9D%20he%20said.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"told\">told<\/a> CNN that the president\u2019s events, including a press conference at next week\u2019s NATO summit and rallies, will be \u201cvery telling\u201d on whether Biden can move beyond the turmoil the debate performance has caused his candidacy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact that he can speak\u00a0extemporaneously without a\u00a0teleprompter or cue cards.\u00a0The fact that he can interact\u00a0with the public in various\u00a0settings in an expressive way\u00a0that puts to rest the doubts\u00a0that have been raised,\u201d Connolly said to CNN. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf he\u00a0can\u2019t do that, then I think we\u00a0are looking at some very\u00a0hard judgments and hard\u00a0choices we\u2019re going to have to\u00a0face as a party. What we can\u2019t\u00a0do is risk losing the White\u00a0House to Donald Trump,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>When asked by the outlet if Biden is the Democratic Party\u2019s best hope for victory in November, Connolly said he is currently unsure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think we know that yet. I think everybody is waiting for the dust to settle from the aftermath of the debate,\u201d Connolly said.<\/p>\n<p>Biden has faced mounting questions about his age and mental acuity in the aftermath of his debate against former President Donald Trump last week in Atlanta. Multiple outlets have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3069120\/biden-expressed-doubt-keep-running-president\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"reported\">reported<\/a> that Biden is aware of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ex-teacher-pleads-guilty-after-mailing-white-powder-threats-to-elementary-school-staffers\/\" title=\"Ex-Teacher Pleads Guilty After Mailing White Powder Threats To Elementary School Staffers\">poor performance<\/a> and the coming week will be telling of his abilities to continue his campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Three House Democrats have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3068503\/democrats-who-say-biden-should-drop-out\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"called\">called<\/a> on Biden to step aside, with Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) becoming the first to do so Tuesday. While Virginia has not been in play at the presidential level for Republicans in nearly two decades, Biden\u2019s low polling figures have led some Republicans to believe Trump may make a play for the commonwealth. Trump held his first rally after the debate in southern Virginia alongside Gov.
