Criticizes Biden. #StandWithTexas\">mass\u200b illegal immigration<\/a> of the Biden era. <\/p>\n<p>In\u200c all events,\u2062 the \u200ddata \u2063show the\u200d human tragedy \u200cin \u200dall \u2062its stark reality. Hull<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\"><time class=\"entry-date updated td-module-date\" datetime=\"2024-07-05T05:50:00-04:00\">July 5, 2024 5:50 am<\/time><\/div>\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<div id=\"Brid_1624464\" class=\"tpd-featured-video bridtv\"><\/div>\n<p>Tulsa, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/oklahoma\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Oklahoma<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/police\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>police<\/a> recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/06\/17\/us\/rachel-morin-murder-suspect-arrest\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>arrested<\/a> a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycitizen.focusonthefamily.com\/illegal-immigrant-arrested-in-murder-of-maryland-mom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>thrice-deported<\/a> Salvadoran illegal immigrant for the rape and murder of Rachel Morin, a mother of five, found dead in August 2023 on a Bel Air, Maryland, trail.\u00a0Yet within days of the suspect\u2019s June 14 arrest, and his extradition back to Maryland, President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Joe Biden<\/a> had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/politics\/white-house-announces-mass-amnesty-plan-for-illegal-immigrants-married-to-us-citizens\/ar-BB1or6vR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">issued<\/a> a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/politics\/joe-bidens-immigration-move-sparks-gop-rage-democrat-celebrations\/ar-BB1opKmi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>potentially unconstitutional<\/a> amnesty for nearly 500,000 additional aliens and <a href=\"https:\/\/conservativeactionalerts.com\/articles\/us-sen-cruz-questions-biden-administration-over-dismissal-of-350000-illegal-alien-removal-cases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>waived deportation of 350,000 more<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Critics noticed.\u00a0Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/tom-cotton\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Tom Cotton<\/a> (R-AR), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/politics\/joe-bidens-immigration-move-sparks-gop-rage-democrat-celebrations\/ar-BB1opKmi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">called<\/a> Biden\u2019s amnesty a \u201csham,\u201d noting that \u201crolling out this unlawful order for mass amnesty as the country mourns the death of Rachel Morin at the hands of an illegal migrant is a disgrace.\u201d Stephen Miller, an immigration point man in former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Donald Trump\u2019s<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/white-house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>White House<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/politics\/joe-bidens-immigration-move-sparks-gop-rage-democrat-celebrations\/ar-BB1opKmi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dubbed<\/a> the Biden policy an \u201cunconstitutional amnesty to illegal aliens during a border invasion.\u201d The former president and 2024 Republican nominee-in-waiting <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/112632701426261593\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>charged<\/a> that \u201cBiden is preparing to give MASS AMNESTY to hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens\u201d and called the move \u201cunsustainable.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">President Biden speaks about an executive order at the White House in Washington on June 4. It shows a rise in illegal immigration is nothing new. <\/p>\n<p>On one hand, illegal immigration has spiked before. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/assets\/documents\/2021-Aug\/U.S.%20Border%20Patrol%20Total%20Apprehensions%20%28FY%201925%20-%20FY%202020%29%20%28508%29.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>U.S. Border Patrol encounters<\/a> with illegal immigrants at the southern border broke a million for the first time in 1954, likely because of the Bracero Program to facilitate Mexican workers during World War II, then dropped sharply after a crackdown. Encounters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/assets\/documents\/2021-Aug\/U.S.%20Border%20Patrol%20Total%20Apprehensions%20%28FY%201925%20-%20FY%202020%29%20%28508%29.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>reached<\/a> nearly 1.7 million in 1987, peaking just after President Ronald Reagan signed the <a href=\"https:\/\/immigrationhistory.org\/item\/1986-immigration-reform-and-control-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Immigration Reform and Control Act<\/a>. That 1986 law granted amnesty to 2.7 million illegal aliens, and illegal entries dropped again as the prospects for legal status diminished.<\/p>\n<p>Before 9\/11, encounters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/assets\/documents\/2021-Aug\/U.S.%20Border%20Patrol%20Total%20Apprehensions%20%28FY%201925%20-%20FY%202020%29%20%28508%29.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>reached<\/a> almost that same level, plunging again when America locked the door after the Jihadi strike. Encounters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/assets\/documents\/2021-Aug\/U.S.%20Border%20Patrol%20Total%20Apprehensions%20%28FY%201925%20-%20FY%202020%29%20%28508%29.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>hit<\/a> a half-century low of under 311,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/assets\/documents\/2021-Aug\/U.S.%20Border%20Patrol%20Total%20Apprehensions%20%28FY%201925%20-%20FY%202020%29%20%28508%29.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>in 2017<\/a> due to newly elected Trump\u2019s early policies and the perception of toughened border security enforcement. But illegal entries rose again later in the Trump administration before the coronavirus pandemic hit. <\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, never have people seen anything like the illegal immigration surge under President Joe Biden. From the Trump-era low, encounters screamed up <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/newsroom\/stats\/southwest-land-border-encounters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>over 2.3 million in 2022<\/a>, a million-alien increase in just half a decade and a spike of 666%. By this measure at least, the Biden-era increase in illegal immigration is literally unprecedented. <\/p>\n<p>What caused this Biden-era illegal immigration spike? Biden\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/presidential-actions\/2024\/06\/04\/a-proclamation-on-securing-the-border\/\">recently <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/biden-to-sign-order-to-close-asylum-processing-when-daily-illegal-crossings-average-2500-post-5661645\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">signed<\/a> \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/presidential-actions\/2024\/06\/04\/a-proclamation-on-securing-the-border\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Proclamation on Securing the Border<\/a>\u201d names at least five specious explanations. First, Biden\u2019s order says \u201cfailing regimes and dire economic conditions afflict many countries\u201d \u2014 and some of those are even in the Western Hemisphere, it points out helpfully. Second, says the order, violence linked to transnational criminal organizations has displaced substantial numbers of people \u2014 in Latin America, in particular. Third, the coronavirus pandemic, or, rather, the crisis caused by the unprecedented steps taken in reaction to it, \u201cupended societies around the globe.\u201d Fourth, natural disasters have forced people from their homes. Fifth and finally, the illegal alien spike \u201cis also the direct result of the Congress\u2019s failure to update an immigration and asylum system that is simply broken.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That said, none of the factors Biden cited adequately explains the historic illegal alien incursion under his administration. For instance, there may be failed regimes in the Western Hemisphere, but the <a href=\"https:\/\/freedomhouse.org\/sites\/default\/files\/2024-02\/Country_and_Territory_Ratings_and_Statuses_FIW_1973-2024.xlsx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>number of free countries in the world has actually risen <\/a>during Biden\u2019s time in office. Likewise, certainly dire economic conditions afflict some countries today, but the overall number of countries with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-see-economic-chaos-as-opportunity-for-more-government-spending-welfare-programs\/\" title=\"Democrats See Economic Chaos As Opportunity For More Government Spending, Welfare Programs\">negative economic growth<\/a> has <a href=\"https:\/\/api.worldbank.org\/v2\/en\/indicator\/NY.GDP.MKTP.KD.ZG?downloadformat=excel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>plunged<\/a> from 216 to just 17 as the world recovered from Biden-style COVID-19 policies. Moreover, though the number of people displaced by economics, COVID-19, disasters, TCOs, or other factors worldwide has indeed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unhcr.org\/refugee-statistics\/download\/?url=Ezu9U5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>soared<\/a> from 20 million the year of Biden\u2019s election to 29 million today, only 363,000 of them <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unhcr.org\/refugee-statistics\/download\/?url=T8WTe7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>want asylum in the United States<\/a>, up a paltry 7% over the same period.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, yes, what critics called \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/12\/29\/covid-crazies-are-using-the-china-virus-surge-to-push-disastrous-restrictions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>COVID crazies<\/a>\u201c cratered countries worldwide \u2014 but thankfully the percentage suffering under a complete border closure, for instance, has plunged precipitously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/1011144\/coronavirus-travel-restrictions-worldwide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>from 72% before Biden\u2019s election to 21% after it<\/a>. Last and likewise, Congress\u2019s failure to update an immigration and asylum system that is simply broken has remained unchanged not only throughout the Trump and Biden administrations but arguably <a href=\"https:\/\/migrationpolicy.podbean.com\/e\/will-immigration-reform-ever-succeed-again-the-legacy-of-irca-its-enduring-lessons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>since at least 1990<\/a>. Therefore, none of Biden\u2019s excuses for the illegal immigration spike under his watch remotely match the pattern of that spike. <\/p>\n<p>No, the evidence points instead toward Biden as the culprit in the Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/border-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>border crisis<\/a>. As a candidate, Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/files.epi.org\/uploads\/Biden-Harris-2020-immigration-plan.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>signaled<\/a> his support for loosening border security, pledging to undo Trump-era immigration restrictions such as the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/news\/2019\/01\/24\/migrant-protection-protocols\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Migrant Protection Protocols,<\/a>\u201d popularly known as the \u201cRemain in Mexico\u201d policy, the public charge rule that deterred new immigrants from relying on U.S. welfare programs, and the U.S.-Mexico border wall.<\/p>\n<p>Candidate Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/files.epi.org\/uploads\/Biden-Harris-2020-immigration-plan.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>promised<\/a> to expand the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2023\/09\/14\/1199428038\/federal-judge-again-declares-that-daca-is-illegal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>arguably illegal<\/a> Obama-Biden Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals illegal alien amnesty program, eliminate restrictions on those from terrorism-linked and failed states claiming refugee status, and generally \u201c[welcome] immigrants into our communities.\u201d Finally, candidate Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/files.epi.org\/uploads\/Biden-Harris-2020-immigration-plan.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>pledged<\/a> to \u201ccommit significant political capital to finally deliver legislative immigration reform to ensure that the U.S. remains open and welcoming to people from every part of the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Newly elected Biden moved rapidly to carry out that plan. On his first day in office, he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/idUSKBN2A231M\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>halted<\/a> construction of the wall, sent an amnesty bill to Congress including a permanent DACA program for 645,000 aliens who entered the country illegally as children, rescinded the Trump-era travel ban on immigration from terrorism-linked countries, and repealed a 2017 Trump executive order intensifying U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ex-tx-sheriff-warns-u-s-doesnt-have-infrastructure-to-handle-immigration-crisis-biden-is-causing\/\" title=\"Ex-TX Sheriff Warns: U.S. Doesn\u2019t Have Infrastructure To Handle Immigration Crisis Biden Is Causing\">interior immigration enforcement<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p>The next day, Biden\u2019s Department of Homeland Security <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/deportation-moratorium-ice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>began<\/a> a 100-day moratorium on deportation, ostensibly to review policy, a move <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/biden-s-100-day-deportation-ban-blocked-judge-n1255732\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>blocked by a federal judge<\/a>.
