The Michigan budget includes\u2064 provisions for tuition-free community college<\/a><\/a> \u200dand expanded access to tuition-free\u2064 preschool. The program is funded\u200b by $330\u200d million in taxpayer \u200cdollars, removing income caps\u2063 for students at in-district community colleges. \u2064Additionally, the \u2063budget offers increased financial aid for all students,\u2064 including pell grant recipients<\/a> and private college students. While the budget falls short\u200d of \u2062Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s\u200d goal\u200c of universal free preschool,\u200b it still allows for free preschool for families at \u200dcertain income \u2064levels. The budget also includes provisions to \u2064benefit\u200d about 5,000 children annually,\u2064 with potential \u2062for more if additional \u200dspots \u200bare available. <\/p>\n
