Consumers argue they would not have purchased the wipes if they knew they were not truly flushable as advertised,\u201d the firm reported.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/costco-customers-enraged-chain-offers-new-deal-americans-cant-rivaling-1-50-hot-dog\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Costco<\/a> agreed to the $2 million settlement but did not admit wrongdoing in the settlement.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement will allow customers to collect $1.30 \u201cper purchased product,\u201d with a minimum payment of $7.50 and maximum of up to 43 products for a maximum payment of $55.90.<\/p>\n<p>Proof of purchase is not required to receive a payment, the law firm said.<\/p>\n<p>The case is officially known as \u201cKurtz v. Kimberly-Clark Corporation, et al., Case No. 1:14-cv-01142-PKC-RML, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To be included among the participants in the lawsuit, forms must be submitted by Aug. 9.<\/p>\n<p>Online claim forms can be accessed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kccconnect.com\/costcoflushablewipessettlement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A final approval hearing for the settlement will be held Aug. 30.<\/p>\n<p>At least one maintenance worker, Alexander Kraus of Kenosha Water Utility, told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/retail\/costco-flushable-wipes-settlement-wholesale-giant-2m-payout\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox Business<\/a> that \u201cflushable\u201d wipes are commonly encountered in sewers, where they can cause big problems.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey cling onto any small deposits or points where tree roots make their way into the sewer laterals,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just a matter of time before a backup occurs, especially from apartment complexes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kraus said workers are sometimes able to clear backups caused by wipes by flushing the sewer pipe, which takes about an hour.<\/p>\n<p>Often, he said, that is just a\u201dstop gap\u201d measure until the next clog, \u201cand we\u2019re out to do it all over again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eventually, he said, the sewer lateral needs to be dug up and replaced.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bidens-wins-account-brutally-fact-checked-trying-pin-costcos-1-50-hot-dog-administration-lowering-costs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Costco<\/a> did not respond to a request for comment by Fox Business, but the <a href=\"https:\/\/costcoflushablewipessettlement.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">settlement website<\/a> quoted them as saying, \u201cCostco denies this allegation and maintains that the Product performs as advertised.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fox reported <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/costco-cfo-provides-huge-update-future-1-50-hot-dog-combo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the company<\/a> continues to sell the wipes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPhotographs of the product on its website show packaging that states, \u2018Never flush more than one wipe at a time,&#8217;\u201d the outlet reported.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>\u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d Those 12 words have been stuck in my head since I first read them. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Former Lt.
