This group, a subsidiary of the \u200bProtect\u2063 Democracy Project, advocates for early and mail-in\u200d voting,\u2063 preventing cyber attacks,\u200d promoting pre-canvassing of \u2062absentee\u2063 ballots, discouraging legal\u200b election challenges, \u2063and advocating for censorship\u2063 of certain online speech about elections. Baker&#8217;s expertise includes legal\u2064 and\u200c legislative\u2063 issues, political violence and intimidation, foreign\u2062 and cyber interference, and election \u2064subversion.\u200d His controversial past \u2063includes involvement\u200b in pushing Twitter to censor \u2063the\u2062 Hunter Biden \u200claptop story, which ultimately led to his firing from the company by Elon Musk. The group is a subsidiary of the left-wing Protect Democracy Project, a litigation group formed to oppose Trump\u2019s policies, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/protect-democracy-project\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">InfluenceWatch<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The task force <a href=\"https:\/\/protectdemocracy.org\/work\/national-task-force-on-election-crises\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pushes<\/a> early and mail-in voting, claims to help prevent \u201ccyber or other attacks by foreign adversaries or domestic disrupters,\u201d promotes \u201cpre-canvassing of absentee ballots,\u201d seeks to discourage legal election challenges, and advocates for censorship of certain online speech about elections.  <\/p>\n<h2>Working for the Regime<\/h2>\n<p>Baker\u2019s key areas of <a href=\"https:\/\/electiontaskforce.org\/people\/james-baker\/\">expertise<\/a>, according to the group\u2019s website, are \u201clegal and legislative issues,\u201d \u201cpolitical violence and intimidation,\u201d \u201cforeign and cyber interference,\u201d and \u201celection subversion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Baker certainly knows about \u201clegal issues.\u201d While serving as the FBI\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/12\/19\/with-russia-hoaxer-jim-baker-on-the-inside-the-fbi-primed-twitter-to-kill-hunter-biden-story-long-before-it-broke\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lead counsel<\/a>, he met with Michael Sussmann \u2014 who he later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/jim-baker-ousted-twitter-lawyer-ex-fbi-official-involved-russiagate-cnn-analyst-between-jobs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">admitted<\/a> was a \u201cfriend\u201d \u2014 and who provided \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/05\/20\/reluctant-witness-devastates-defense-claims-in-special-counsel-criminal-case\/\">intel<\/a>\u201d supposedly proving connections between the Trump Organization and Alfa Bank, a Russian company. Sussmann claimed he was acting on his own behalf, though he was later found to have been working for Hillary Clinton\u2019s 2016 campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Baker should also know about \u201cpolitical violence and intimidation,\u201d considering that he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/jim-baker-ousted-twitter-lawyer-ex-fbi-official-involved-russiagate-cnn-analyst-between-jobs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">prompted<\/a> the FBI to investigate Trump using Sussmann\u2019s faulty information. He also told Congress Sussmann\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/09\/23\/how-old-friends-in-high-places-assembled-the-russia-collusion-hoax\/\">lie<\/a> in 2018 that a server at Trump Tower was in communication with Alfa Bank. Upon finding the claim false, he <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/01\/the-special-counsel-proved-the-fbi-belongs-to-the-swamp\/\">failed<\/a> to show any concern. Maybe \u201cRussiagate\u201d is also where he gets his experience with \u201cforeign interference.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He has plenty of experience with \u201ccyber interference\u201d too, considering his push to censor the New York Post\u2019s Hunter Biden laptop story, as revealed in the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/shellenberger\/status\/1604902028852924416?s=20&#038;t=7z3b8e24rYEyfAzJjUJ1UA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Twitter Files<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Baker started <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/jim-baker-234a4724\/details\/experience\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">working<\/a> at Twitter \u2014 now X \u2014 as deputy general counsel in 2020. He <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/shellenberger\/status\/1604904507430752256\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">worked<\/a> with the FBI to push the company\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/02\/08\/former-twitter-execs-tell-congress-we-didnt-meddle-in-2020-election-and-also-we-need-to-do-it-more\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">censorship<\/a> of the Hunter Biden laptop story, which <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/10\/14\/email-reveals-how-hunter-biden-introduced-ukrainian-biz-man-to-dad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">depicted<\/a> shady business <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/10\/15\/emails-reveal-how-hunter-biden-tried-to-cash-in-big-with-chinese-firm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dealings<\/a> involving now-President Joe Biden. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m guessing that we are going to restrict access to this article as a violation of our Hacked Materials policy but after yesterday I don\u2019t want to assume anything,\u201d Baker <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/shellenberger\/status\/1604902028852924416\/photo\/3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a> in an email on Oct. 15, 2020. <\/p>\n<p>Elon Musk later <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1600237095364096000?s=20&#038;t=VRz8WbQMwC515reaxfZulQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fired<\/a> Baker for his role in pushing regime censorship. \u201cIn light of concerns about Baker\u2019s possible role in suppression of information important to the public dialogue, he was exited from Twitter today,\u201d Musk <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1600237095364096000?s=20&#038;t=VRz8WbQMwC515reaxfZulQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">posted<\/a> in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The intersection of Baker\u2019s past with the group\u2019s activities should be cause for concern. Perhaps this is where his final skill, \u201celection subversion,\u201d comes into play. <\/p>\n<h2>Election Meddlers<\/h2>\n<p>The National Task Force on Election Crises <a href=\"https:\/\/protectdemocracy.org\/work\/national-task-force-on-election-crises\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">aims<\/a> to \u201chold candidates and their attorneys accountable for knowingly pursuing bad-faith or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-administration-approves-massive-oil-drilling-project-in-alaska\/\" title=\"Biden Administration Approves Massive Oil Drilling Project in Alaska\">frivolous legal challenges<\/a>; continue to pursue accountability for those who committed criminal acts on and leading up to January 6th.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The group also works to \u201cdowngrade or delete rather than label election-related disinformation,\u201d \u201chand-pick or remove trending lists and up-next recommendations for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/censortrack-logs-3500-censorship-cases-by-big-tech\/\" title=\"CensorTrack Logs 3,500 Censorship Cases by Big Tech\u00a0\">election-related content<\/a>,\u201d and \u201cinoculate against disinformation about voting options and the validity of election results.\u201d Disinformation, of course, is left-wing censors\u2019 favored way to describe inconvenient or counter-narrative speech.<\/p>\n<p>These promises should not be considered empty. The members of this group include some of the most influential left-wing election meddlers in recent history. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/electiontaskforce.org\/people\/tiana-epps-johnson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tiana Epps-Johnson<\/a>, founder of the Center for Tech and Civic Life, and <a href=\"https:\/\/electiontaskforce.org\/people\/david-becker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">David Becker<\/a>, a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/center-for-election-innovation-research\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hardcore leftist<\/a>\u201d and founder of the Center for Election Innovation and Research, are both members. CTCL and CEIR <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/10\/12\/the-2020-election-wasnt-stolen-it-was-bought-by-mark-zuckerberg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">shuttled<\/a> close to $420 million from Mark Zuckerberg to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/vermont-supreme-court-upholds-noncitizen-voting\/\" title=\"Vermont Supreme Court Upholds Noncitizen Voting\">local elections offices<\/a> in 2020, boosting Democrat turnout in the general election. <\/p>\n<p>Amber McReynolds, a governor of the United States Postal Service, is also a <a href=\"https:\/\/electiontaskforce.org\/people\/amber-mcreynolds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">member<\/a>. In 2020, the National Vote at Home Institute \u2014 of which she was <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/voteathome\/status\/1445388799593353219\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CEO<\/a> at the time, and which shares leadership ties with CTCL \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/25\/exclusive-zuckerberg-connected-nonprofit-helped-shift-michigans-2020-voting-rules\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">accessed<\/a> absentee ballots and worked to shift Michigan election policy.<\/p>\n<p>Tammy Patrick, CEO of programs at the National Association of Election Officials, is another <a href=\"https:\/\/electiontaskforce.org\/people\/tammy-patrick\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">member<\/a> of the group. She was a senior adviser for elections at the left-wing financial powerhouse Democracy Fund, and she <a href=\"https:\/\/voteathome.org\/about-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sits<\/a> on the circle of advisors at NVAHI. <\/p>\n<p>If the political connections of this group\u2019s members do not already raise suspicions, Baker\u2019s role should cause serious concern.
