This is through oversight of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association.<\/p>\n<p>Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper\u2019s veto was nullified by the General Assembly\u2019s override. It <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncleg.gov\/Sessions\/2023\/Bills\/Senate\/PDF\/S452v7.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>expands the rights of students<\/strong><\/a> to appeal decisions made by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/let-us-play-thousands-rally-at-michigan-state-capitol-over-high-school-winter-sports-ban\/\" title=\"\u2018Let Us Play\u2019: Thousands Rally At Michigan State Capitol Over High School Winter Sports Ban\">athletic association<\/a> to an \u201cindependent appeals board.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncleg.gov\/Sessions\/2023\/Bills\/Senate\/PDF\/S747v6.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>new election legislation<\/strong><\/a> requires checks for address changes, stricter rules for mail-in voting, enters the state into \u201cdata sharing agreements with other states to cross-check information on voter registration and voting records,\u201d and the removal of \u201cdeceased persons\u201d and \u201cineligible voters\u201d from the voter list.<\/p>\n<p>Ineligible voters include felons and noncitizens.<\/p>\n<p>Some aspects of the law, most directly related to same-day voting, are tied up in court facing challenges.<\/p>\n<p>Senate Bill 677 expedites the construction of certain multi-family or commercial building projects, allowing surveyors to expedite their \u201cat-risk construction permitting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another law, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncleg.gov\/Sessions\/2023\/Bills\/House\/PDF\/H600v8.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>House Bill 600<\/strong><\/a>, seeks to provide \u201cregulatory relief\u201d to citizens in North Carolina.
