Fireworks will be launched from both sides of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool beginning at 9:09 p.m. and will go on for a total of 18 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some tips for getting the most out of this iconic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/independence-day\/\">Independence Day<\/a> celebration in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/washington-dc\/\">nation\u2019s capital<\/a> on Thursday:<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Arrive early<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This year\u2019s fireworks show isn\u2019t scheduled to begin until after 9 p.m., but plan to arrive a couple of hours before that to stake out a prime viewing spot. <\/p>\n<p>You can access the Mall as early as 1 p.m. through a few designated entry points:<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Constitution Ave. at Henry Bacon Drive NW<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 17th St. NW at Constitution Ave. NW<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 15th St. NW at Madison Drive NW<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 14th St. SW at Jefferson Drive SW<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 George Mason Memorial<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Take public transportation<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Due to the crowds, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hidden-homeless-more-people-living-in-vehicles-due-to-covid-hardships\/\" title=\"\u2018Hidden Homeless\u2019: More People Living In Vehicles Due To COVID Hardships\">public parking<\/a> will be nearly impossible to find, and several roads will be closed and off limits to vehicles. (You can find a full list of road closures on the National Park Service\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/subjects\/nationalmall4th\/closures.htm\">website<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>The Smithsonian\/National Mall Metro station (Blue, Orange, and Silver lines) is the closest stop to the fireworks area, but the National Park Service recommends that you use other nearby Metro stops to avoid overcrowding at Smithsonian.<\/p>\n<p>You can walk to the Mall from each of the following Metro stations:<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Federal Triangle (Blue, Orange, and Silver lines)<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Foggy Bottom-GWU (Blue, Orange, and Silver lines)<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 L\u2019Enfant Plaza (Green, Yellow, Blue, Orange, and Silver lines)<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Archives\/Navy Memorial (Green and Yellow lines)<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Metro Center (Red, Blue, Orange, and Silver lines)<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Judiciary Square (Red Line)<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Bring:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>A picnic blanket, plenty of water, snacks, sunscreen, and a ball or Frisbee if you\u2019re arriving early.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/subjects\/nationalmall4th\/essentials-to-bring.htm\">Concession stands<\/a> will be located at places such as the Lincoln Memorial, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, and the Washington Monument, although the lines are likely to be long.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Don\u2019t bring:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Alcohol, weapons, glass containers, explosives, balloons, packages, tents, drones, and coolers larger than 36 quarts are all prohibited by the National Park Service.
