The ruling,\u2064 which did not clearly \u2063define the \u200dline between official and unofficial acts that have immunity, was supported by a majority\u2064 of justices. Trump expressed hope that the ruling would put \u200can\u200b end to the court\u2063 cases \u2064against him, stating that he\u200c had been unfairly targeted \u200bby his political opponents. The ruling did not determine where the line between official and unofficial acts that have no immunity exists. The court ruled that \u201cthe separation of powers principles\u201d requires \u201cat least a presumptive immunity from criminal prosecution for a President\u2019s acts within the outer perimeter of his official responsibility. Such an immunity is required to safeguard the independence and effective functioning of the Executive Branch, and to enable the President to carry out his constitutional duties without undue caution.\u201d  Justices John Roberts, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett voted in favor of the ruling. Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson made up the minority. Trump said, he hopes the ruling brings an end to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/paul-bedard-trump-2024-time-to-start-talking-about-greatness\/\" title=\"Paul Bedard: Trump 2024 \u2013 \u201cTime to Start Talking About Greatness\u201d\">multiple court cases<\/a> against him.   \u201cI have been harassed by the Democrat Party, Joe Biden, Obama, and their thugs, fascists, and communists for years,\u201d Trump said, according to Fox News. \u201cAnd now the courts have spoken.\u201d \u201cThis is a big win for our Constitution and for democracy. Now I am free to campaign like anyone else. We are leading in every poll \u2014 by a lot \u2014 and we will make America great again,\u201d Trump said.  The ruling said presidential immunity for official acts is a core Constitutional principle. \u201cUnder our constitutional structure of separated powers, the nature of Presidential power entitles a former President to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/supreme-court-rejects-trump-bid-to-shield-financial-records\/\" title=\"Supreme Court Rejects Trump Bid To Shield Financial Records\">absolute immunity<\/a> from criminal prosecution for actions within his conclusive and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/supreme-court-finds-some-immunity-for-presidents-complicating-trump-indictment-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Supreme Court finds some immunity for presidents, complicating Trump indictment - Washington Examiner\">preclusive constitutional authority<\/a>,\u201d the court ruled.  Are the prosecutions of Trump politically motivated?     \u201cAnd he is entitled to at least presumptive immunity from prosecution for all his official acts. There is no immunity for unofficial acts,\u201d the ruling said. \u201cThis case is the first criminal prosecution in our Nation\u2019s history of a former President for actions taken during his Presidency. Determining whether and under what circumstances such a prosecution may proceed requires careful assessment of the scope of Presidential power under the Constitution,\u201d the ruling said. \u201cThe nature of that power requires that a former President have some immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts during his tenure in office,\u201d the court ruled.  \u201cCriminally prosecuting a president for official conduct undoubtedly poses a far greater threat of intrusion on the authority and functions of the Executive Branch than simply seeking evidence in his possession,\u201d the court ruled. \u201cThe danger is greater than what led the Court to recognize absolute Presidential immunity from civil damages liability \u2014 that the President would be chilled from taking the \u2018bold and unhesitating action\u2019 required of an independent Executive,\u201d the ruling said.  \u201cThat immunity applies equally to all occupants of the Oval Office, regardless of politics, policy, or party,\u201d the ruling said.
