Trump has no intention of surrendering his influence,\u201d the newspaper of record for the Democratic Party and the American left declared in its online subhead on Monday. <\/p>\n<p>And so the corporate media stories went, reporting on Bannon\u2019s failed attempt to secure an 11th-hour reprieve from the U.S. Supreme Court.\u00a0Bannon surrendered to federal authorities at a Connecticut federal prison to begin serving his time on contempt charges for defying a congressional subpoena. <\/p>\n<p>Loathed by the left and ruling-class Republicans, the conservative firebrand became the latest casualty of a two-tiered system of justice in America. <\/p>\n<p>As Bannon begins his term, 15 cabinet officials in the Biden administration continue to defy congressional subpoenas, and Merrick Garland, the attorney general of the United States, continues to insist he\u2019s above Congress. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cha.house.gov\/2024\/6\/chairman-steil-subpoenas-15-cabinet-members-for-documents-related-to-bidenbucks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">On June 13<\/a>, U.S. Rep. Bryan Steil, chairman of the Committee on House Administration, issued subpoenas to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/no-one-knows-how-much-bidenbucks-is-costing-taxpayers\/\" title=\"No One Knows How Much &#039;Bidenbucks&#039; Is Costing Taxpayers\">15 administration cabinet members seeking documents related<\/a> to Biden\u2019s constitutionally suspect <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/presidential-actions\/2021\/03\/07\/executive-order-on-promoting-access-to-voting\/\">executive order<\/a> commanding federal agencies to assist in voter registration and get-out-the-vote campaigns. The agency chiefs failed to comply by Steil\u2019s deadline of <a href=\"https:\/\/cha.house.gov\/_cache\/files\/3\/e\/3eda90a0-8a2d-4ce5-b3c0-cd2947d84f03\/90B7F31929B950CEEDC87CAAD6D35AE5.steil-eo-14019-subpoena-cover-letter.pdf\">June 26<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot a single agency has responded with their strategic plan or with any details about the implementation of the EO,\u201d the Wisconsin Republican said in a statement to The Federalist. \u201cAdditionally, we know that as many as 40 outside groups assisted and advised the agencies on implementation \u2013 we have received nothing on the role these groups played in the design of the strategic plans.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Seems like contempt of Congress. Will the cabinet secretaries be bunking with Bannon anytime soon? Don\u2019t count on it. <\/p>\n<p>What about Garland? <\/p>\n<p>On Monday, House Republicans <a href=\"https:\/\/judiciary.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/judiciary-committee-sues-garland-hur-audio-tapes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sued<\/a> Garland, who has refused to turn over the audio recordings of a \u201cconfused\u201d President Joe Biden\u2019s interview with Department of Justice Special Counsel Robert Hur about the president\u2019s mishandling of classified documents. Republicans want a federal court to compel Garland to follow their subpoena. <\/p>\n<p>The attorney general effectively told Republicans to go pound sand, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hugh-hewitt-the-real-story-of-the-most-famous-political-scandal-in-u-s-history\/\" title=\"Hugh Hewitt: The Real Story Of \u2018The Most Famous Political Scandal\u2019 In U.S. History\">citing executive privilege<\/a> in refusing to release the audio \u2014 audio that could be particularly damaging to Biden after his disastrous debate performance last week. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe congressional inquiry began with the release of Hur\u2019s report in February, which found evidence that Biden, a Democrat, willfully retained and shared highly classified information when he was a private citizen. Yet the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/j6-committee-focuses-on-election-fraud-claims-while-ignoring-tactics-used-to-rig-the-2020-election\/\" title=\"J6 Committee Focuses On Election Fraud Claims While Ignoring Tactics Used To Rig The 2020 Election\">special counsel concluded<\/a> that criminal charges were not warranted,\u201d the Associated Press <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/merrick-garland-contempt-classified-documents-congress-biden-1757268eb7d7343aa1e9cc0ddafdbf5b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported.<\/a> What the story failed to note is that the special prosecutor deemed charges unwarranted <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/08\/prosecutors-decline-to-charge-elderly-biden-over-poor-memory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">because<\/a> the octogenarian president \u201cwould likely present himself to the jury, as he did during our interview with him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hur <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/12\/hur-biden-white-house-pressured-me-to-change-my-report-findings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> the House Judiciary Committee in March that the White House pushed him to change portions of his report thought to be particularly damaging to the false narrative that Biden\u2019s mental acuity remained sharp. <\/p>\n<p>Trump trade adviser Peter Navarro has been in jail since March for likewise ignoring a congressional subpoena. The U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear either man\u2019s emergency appeal. <\/p>\n<p>Before beginning his sentence, Bannon <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/steve-bannon-contempt-sentence-federal-prison-trump-77353a10250c36f77b2c1b7d188c5250\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> reporters that he is a \u201cpolitical prisoner.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Now, who will hold Garland and his colleagues in the Biden cabinet accountable for their contemptible conduct? <\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Matt Kittle is a senior elections correspondent for The Federalist.
