It went into hyperdrive after the 2018 publication of Michael Wolff\u2019s <em>Fire and Fury<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Fraud-Fiction-Truth-Behind-Inside\/dp\/1642930202\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a fantastical book<\/a> about the Trump White House that the author <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aol.com\/article\/news\/2018\/01\/05\/michael-wolff-says-he-cant-be-sure-if-parts-of-explosive-trump-book-are-true\/23324888\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">admitted<\/a> was in no small part fictionalized. Even so, the refrain by people like Joe Scarborough on MSNBC was that its content <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rawstory.com\/2018\/01\/it-rings-true-morning-joe-says-anyone-that-spent-any-time-with-donald-trump-believes-wolffs-bombshell-book\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201crings true,\u201d<\/a> thereby permitting them all to assert endless wild claims about the president operating with a junk brain.<\/p>\n<p>In light of last week\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/06\/28\/democrats-admit-bidens-debate-performance-was-a-disaster-that-should-worry-everyone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">astonishing debate performance<\/a> by the current president, let\u2019s just talk about the dishonesty and disrepute of Scarborough.<\/p>\n<p>Just three months ago, Scarborough was <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/theblaze\/status\/1765450853085843795\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">heralding<\/a> Biden\u2019s unparalleled genius and mental aptitude. \u201cI\u2019ve said it for years now, he\u2019s cogent,\u201d he said on his MSNBC show. \u201cBut I undersold it when I said he was cogent. He\u2019s far beyond cogent. In fact I think he\u2019s better than he\u2019s ever been, intellectually, analytically.\u201d He added, \u201cThis version of Biden, intellectually, analytically, is the best Biden ever \u2014 not a close second.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A few weeks later on the same show, Scarborough <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ggreenwald\/status\/1806685970470728010\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">declared<\/a> Biden\u2019s intelligence to be \u201clightyears ahead\u201d of any Republican leader in Congress.<\/p>\n<p>Fast forward to the morning after Biden\u2019s gasp-inducing appearance at the debate with Trump, and Scarborough\u2019s enthusiasm for the intellectual giant <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ggreenwald\/status\/1806686589042500077\/video\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">had quelled<\/a>. \u201cHe can run the White House, he can run the country effectively \u2026 but can he run for president in 2024?\u201d he said, before complaining that Biden was the victim of lies by the former president. Nonetheless, Scarborough said Biden, \u201cmissed one layup after another, after another\u201d and concluded that he \u201cmay not be up for the job.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is an attempt by the bespectacled host to acknowledge the obvious \u2014\u00a0Biden\u2019s striking mental decline \u2014\u00a0while also insisting that he remains capable of being president. On the one hand, Scarborough asserts that Biden can \u201crun the White House.\u201d On the other, he \u201cmay not be up for the job.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If Scarborough weren\u2019t a deceptive and despicable person, he would do what he did the last time he claimed to have witnessed an incapacitated president. He would call for an exercise of the 25h Amendment, thereby relieving the commander-in-chief of his duties.<\/p>\n<p>After Trump hosted a lengthy on-camera meeting with his full cabinet in early 2019, Scarborough, for no discernible reason, said he should be removed from office. \u201cIf we had a cabinet that was filled with people with more character \u2026 and if we had a House and a Senate that took their jobs seriously,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymotion.com\/video\/x701ild\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">he said<\/a>, \u201cthere would be people going up to the White House this morning saying, \u2018Mr. President, questions abound whether you are fit for this office. If this continues, we are going to ask your cabinet to take a vote on whether you are fit for office and invoke the 25th Amendment.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Admittedly, I\u2019d rather not see that process play out and instead just hope for the best. The alternative to Biden is the swearing in of President Kamala Harris. Between that and the current Oval Office occupant who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2024\/06\/29\/two-bidens-trump-debate-2024-president\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reportedly<\/a> begins to sundown at 4 p.m., I\u2019ll take my chances with the latter.<\/p>\n<p>Scarborough has no excuse. He professed to believe in swift execution of the constitutional removal of a president of whom \u201cquestions abound whether you are fit for this office.\u201d That is, by definition, Joe Biden. And it\u2019s not from Republicans. It\u2019s from the president\u2019s own party and, at risk of being redundant, Scarborough\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/01\/democrat-media-arent-upset-biden-is-senile-theyre-mad-they-cant-hide-it-anymore\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">peers in the media<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>So get going, Joe! Call on all those character-filled people in the president\u2019s cabinet to do the right thing.<\/p>\n<p>He won\u2019t.
