But at least the <a href=\"https:\/\/budget.house.gov\/press-release\/cbo-report-on-inflation-covers-up-the-harmful-effect-of-bidenomics-on-the-economy#:~:text=The%20fiscal%20reality%20under%20Bidenomics,services%20increasing%20by%2018.9%20percent.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rising cost<\/a> of everything from gas to groceries is clear \u2014 all too clear \u2014 to the U.S. consumer. The price tag for the federally funded get-out-the-vote campaign to elect Democrats remains unknown to the electorate. <\/p>\n<p>And it appears President Joe Biden\u2019s administration plans to keep it that way, congressional subpoenas be damned. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cha.house.gov\/2024\/6\/chairman-steil-subpoenas-15-cabinet-members-for-documents-related-to-bidenbucks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">On June 13<\/a>, U.S. Rep. Bryan Steil, chairman of the Committee on House Administration, issued subpoenas to 15 administration cabinet members seeking documents related to Biden\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/presidential-actions\/2021\/03\/07\/executive-order-on-promoting-access-to-voting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">executive order<\/a> sold as \u201cPromoting Access to Voting.\u201d He gave the agency chiefs until Wednesday, June 26 to comply. They haven\u2019t. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot a single agency has responded with their strategic plan or with any details about the implementation of the EO,\u201d the Wisconsin Republican said in a statement to The Federalist. \u201cAdditionally, we know that as many as 40 outside groups assisted and advised the agencies on implementation \u2013 we have received nothing on the role these groups played in the design of the strategic plans.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>In an interview late last month on NewsRadio 1040 WHO in Des Moines, Steil told me that \u201cthere is absolutely no excuse\u201d for the agencies not to turn over the documents. He said the American people have a right to know how their tax dollars are being spent.  <\/p>\n<h2>\u2018No One Knows\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>But the Biden administration has never been much for transparency and open government. Executive branch officials have stonewalled government watchdogs at every turn in their Freedom of Information Act requests for the documents. <\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/thefga.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Foundation for Government Accountability<\/a> (FGA) in July 2021 filed multiple <a href=\"https:\/\/thefga.org\/press\/executive-order-14019-voter-registration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FOIA requests<\/a> seeking information on Bidenbucks to \u201chelp determine whether or not the Biden administration is engaging in unethical and potentially criminal behavior related to benefits provided to third-party organizations.\u201d Nearly three years later, the agencies have yet to move anywhere near compliance, even after a federal judge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prweb.com\/releases\/court-rules-in-favor-of-fga-requires-department-of-justice-to-hand-over-documents-868540990.html\">ordered<\/a> the government to release the records. <\/p>\n<p>Stewart Whitson, FGA\u2019s senior director of federal affairs, said the cost of the voter registration and mobilization effort this election year remains hidden from public inspection, including from the rightful interests of the First Branch.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cComing up with estimates would be nearly impossible. That\u2019s the problem: no one knows, not even Congress,\u201d Whitson told The Federalist. <\/p>\n<h2>\u2018Unimaginable Scale\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Whitson <a href=\"https:\/\/democrats-smallbusiness.house.gov\/uploadedfiles\/06-04-24_mr._whitson_testimony.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">testified<\/a> early last month before the House\u2019s Small Business Committee at a hearing titled, \u201cWeaponizing Federal Resources: Exposing the SBA\u2019s [Small Business Administration] Voter Registration Efforts.\u201d He compared \u201cBidenbucks\u201d to \u201cZuckbucks,\u201d the hundreds of millions of dollars in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-racine-wisconsins-voting-van-unfairly-benefited-democrats-and-was-contrary-to-law\/\" title=\"Judge: Voting Van in Racine, Wisconsin Unfairly Favored Democrats, Violated Law\">election administration grants<\/a> from Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. Much of the money went to Democrat strongholds in the critical swing states that determined the outcome of the 2020 election. Portions of the so-called \u201csafe\u201d elections grants rolled out during Covid went to GOTV efforts targeting left-leaning voters. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately, the Biden administration has doubled down on a new, similar scheme that is using the same strategy pioneered through Zuckerbucks \u2014 <em>targeted<\/em> voter registration and mobilization \u2014 but on a new, unimaginable scale. And as we learned in recent months, the Small Business Bureau (SBA) is playing a critical role in helping to carry out this new scheme,\u201d Whitson told the committee. <\/p>\n<p>As The Federalist <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/29\/bidenbucks-tentacles-expand-as-judge-shuts-down-lawsuit\/\">reported<\/a> in March, the Michigan Department of State <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sba.gov\/article\/2024\/03\/19\/sba-administrator-guzman-announces-agencys-first-ever-voter-registration-agreement-michigan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU)<\/a> with the SBA \u201cto <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nba-will-not-schedule-games-on-election-day-important-to-our-democracy\/\" title=\"NBA Will Not Schedule Games On Election Day: &quot;Important To Our Democracy&quot;\">promote civic engagement<\/a> and voter registration in Michigan,\u201d a battleground state. The agreement, according to far-left Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, is a \u201cfirst-in-the-nation effort connecting Michigan\u2019s small business community with the tools and information they need to play an even greater active role in our democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, congressional Republicans are seeking SBA Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman\u2019s travel records after a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ernst.senate.gov\/news\/press-releases\/following-shocking-video-ernst-demands-transparency-at-sba\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">video<\/a> alleged she was the \u201cmost traveled member of the president\u2019s cabinet and participated in trips to indirectly campaign for the president,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/house-committee-demand-biden-agency-reveal-staff-travel-histories-amid-electioneering\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to<\/a> Fox News. <\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s just the tip of the iceberg. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/12\/exclusive-house-republicans-probe-education-departments-partisan-bidenbucks-scheme\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Earlier this year<\/a>, the Biden administration announced it would employ Federal Work-Study (FWS) funds in the voter registration and mobilization drive on college campuses, a ripe and dependable source of Democrat votes. The FWS money traditionally has been devoted to paying students to work part-time campus jobs, helping offset the cost of tuition. Biden\u2019s Department of Education, under the cover of the executive order, now justifies the use of taxpayer dollars to do the work of political parties.<\/p>\n<p>Congress, Steil says, did not allocate any federal funds for the GOTV effort. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat law does the administration believe they\u2019re following to do this? They\u2019re using taxpayer dollars for a partisan effort,\u201d the congressman said. \u201cThese are agencies like the Department of Transportation. They\u2019re utilizing federal taxpayer dollars for a partisan GOTV effort; it\u2019s not them using money for roads and bridges and things the DOT should actually be doing.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The executive order extends to federal agencies across the board. <\/p>\n<h2>\u2018No Substantial Evidence\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>While much remains unknown about the inner workings of Bidenbucks, we do know that <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/04\/15\/bidenbucks-make-zuckbucks-look-like-chump-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">some of the more radical<\/a> and powerful organizations in the country are involved. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailysignal.com\/2024\/02\/20\/usda-colludes-with-left-wing-group-to-turn-out-voters-under-biden-order-documents-reveal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Records obtained<\/a> by the Heritage Foundation\u2019s Oversight Project show left-wing policy activist group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/demos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Demos<\/a> working with the Department of Agriculture in August 2021. New York-based Demos reportedly \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailysignal.com\/2022\/02\/10\/biden-bureaucracy-secretly-plans-to-turn-out-voters-after-failure-of-election-takeover-bills\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">helped draft Biden\u2019s Executive Order 14019<\/a>.\u201d The GOTV effort was being carried out by <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/27\/bidens-illegal-election-hail-mary-might-still-be-intercepted\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Susan Rice,<\/a> Biden\u2019s former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-has-signed-40-executive-orders-and-actions-since-taking-office\/\" title=\"Biden has signed 40 executive orders and actions since taking office\">domestic policy adviser<\/a> who also served as President Barack Obama\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-president-trump-to-pardon-gen-michael-flynn-per-report\/\" title=\"BREAKING: President Trump to Pardon Gen. Michael Flynn, Per Report\">national security adviser<\/a> and ambassador to the United Nations. <\/p>\n<p>To hear the Biden administration tell it, \u201cdemocracy\u201d is under attack by Republicans who want answers about the implementation and funding of the executive order. They\u2019ve got their mouthpieces at taxpayer-funded NPR springing to their defense. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBacked with no substantial evidence, GOP lawmakers and state election officials, along with right-wing activists, have launched a barrage of claims that the Biden administration is using this order to overstep the federal government\u2019s role in elections, garner more Democratic voters and register non-U.S. citizens, who cannot legally vote in federal elections,\u201d NPR <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2024\/06\/30\/nx-s1-5005001\/biden-voter-registration-executive-order\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gassed<\/a> in a piece published on Sunday. <\/p>\n<p>No substantial evidence?  <\/p>\n<p>As Steil noted, if the Biden administration didn\u2019t have anything to hide, it would simply turn over the documents that government watchdogs \u2014 and Congress \u2014 are seeking. <\/p>\n<h2>Double Standard<\/h2>\n<p>It is worth noting that conservative firebrand Steve Bannon, former top aide to President Donald Trump, is expected to <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/regulation\/court-battles\/4746426-supreme-court-steve-bannon-prison-sentence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report to jail today<\/a> for \u201cdefying a subpoena\u201d issued by the political witch hunt House committee \u201cinvestigating\u201d the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riots. Former Trump trade adviser <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/people\/peter-navarro\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Peter Navarro<\/a> has also been in jail since March for ignoring a congressional subpoena. The U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear either man\u2019s emergency appeal. <\/p>\n<p>Biden administration officials, including <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/house\/4743686-house-gop-luna-inherent-contempt-detain-garland\/mlite\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Attorney General Merrick Garland,<\/a> have snubbed their noses at congressional subpoenas. Will there be consequences for these lawbreakers? <\/p>\n<p>Steil said there needs to be accountability for the 15 federal cabinet secretaries who have refused to comply. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m continuing to work to hold these agencies accountable on this partisan voter registration scheme,\u201d he said in the statement to The Federalist. <\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Matt Kittle is a senior elections correspondent for The Federalist.
