return false;\" title=\"Printer Friendly, PDF &#038; Email\"><span id=\"printfriendly-text2\" class=\"pf-button-text\"><i class=\"mdi mdi-printer\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<p>Another previous top advisor to former President Donald Trump is scheduled to report to a federal prison for a four-month prison term.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, former White House adviser and host of the \u201cWar Room\u201d podcast, Steve Bannon, will record his final show near the Connecticut low-security facility where he will stay through the end of October.<\/p>\n<div  class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-46a857403538bb5dd40a18ea93759498 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-46a857403538bb5dd40a18ea93759498\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll be as close to the prison as we can possibly get,\u201d Bannon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/07\/01\/us\/politics\/stephen-k-bannon-plans-to-record-his-podcast-then-report-to-prison.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> The New York Times in a weekend interview. \u201cI\u2019ll walk across the street and surrender.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bannon\u2019s four-month incarceration will keep him off the airwaves until just days before the November election. The colossal figure in conservative media was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2022\/07\/23\/steve-bannon-jail-donald-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">convicted <\/a>on contempt of Congress charges two years ago. Bannon refused to comply with a congressional subpoena from a partisan committee established in <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/11\/10\/j6-committee-misleading-witnesses-about-republican-staff-presence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">violation<\/a> of House rules. A federal judge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/justice-department\/court-hears-arguments-whether-steve-bannon-begin-prison-sentence-rcna155209\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">upheld <\/a>the months-long prison term earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, the Supreme Court denied Bannon\u2019s final appeal as the justices delivered rulings on the Justice Department\u2019s zealous prosecution of political opponents present at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Federal prosecutors, the court <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/06\/28\/supreme-court-tosses-obstruction-charges-for-j6-defendants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ruled<\/a>, inappropriately weaponized a broad interpretation of a 2002 law to charge Jan. 6 defendants with additional felonies carrying decades in jail time.<\/p>\n<p>Bannon\u2019s own two-year legal drama and Trump\u2019s prosecution for nearly 100 state and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/five-memphis-police-officers-federally-indicted-in-death-of-tyre-nichols\/\" title=\"Five Memphis police officers have been federally indicted for the death of Tyre Nichols.\">federal charges reflect<\/a> only the highest profile cases of the far-left\u2019s lawfare campaign deployed ahead of the 2024 election. The DOJ charged more than <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/supreme-court-hear-major-challenge-felony-statute-capitol\/story?id=105623942\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">300<\/a> defendants with obstruction charges under the 2002 Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Other prominent conservative figures, meanwhile, including former Trump Trade Adviser Peter Navarro and Weidong \u201cBill\u201d Guan of The Epoch Times, have faced <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/06\/07\/dem-lawfare-campaign-takes-aim-at-conservative-media-before-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">prosecution<\/a> by an incumbent regime that is <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/08\/fbi-confirms-its-restarting-online-censorship-efforts-ahead-of-2024-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">still intent<\/a> on censoring conservative media. Navarro similarly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/justice-department\/ex-trump-adviser-peter-navarro-reports-prison-contempt-congress-convic-rcna144043\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">commenced<\/a> a four<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ohio-state-researcher-sentenced-to-prison-for-concealing-ties-to-chinese-spy-program\/\" title=\"Ohio State Researcher Sentenced to Prison for Concealing Ties to Chinese Spy Program\">-month prison sentence<\/a> in late March for refusing to comply with the Jan. 6 Committee\u2019s partisan subpoenas issued in the House probe\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/10\/the-j6-inquisition-is-an-obvious-soviet-style-show-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Soviet-style inquisition<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div  class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-4d20f0deb60a67978a90f52067f58dc3 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-4d20f0deb60a67978a90f52067f58dc3\"><\/div>\n<p>In addition, Trump was charged on fabricated election crimes in Georgia alongside <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-georgia-election-investigation-grand-jury-willis-d39562cedfc60d64948708de1b011ed3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">18<\/a> other allies, while his former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows also fights to remain out of jail. Earlier this month, Meadows, along with Trump 2020 Election Day operations director Michael Roman, pled <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-arizona-fake-electors-meadows-roman-236ff65d74442285887c83b2c7c0528d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">not guilty<\/a> in another election-related case in Arizona.<\/p>\n<p>The cascade of continual charges and jail time for Trump\u2019s advisors and supporters showcases a legal effort to undermine the former president\u2019s latest campaign, an effort that extends far beyond the Republican candidate himself.
