The first lady <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.com\/article\/first-lady-jill-biden-august-2024-cover-interview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>explained in a statement<\/a> to <em>Vogue<\/em> that the Biden family would not let the first presidential debate define his presidency and that her husband will \u201calways do what\u2019s best for the country,\u201d leading Leavitt to argue that the best for the country would not be a second Biden presidency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe majority of the American public agree with that. Jill Biden doesn\u2019t because, I guess, she doesn\u2019t want to be a loving wife and go take care of her husband in Delaware, which is what she should be doing,\u201d Leavitt said on Fox Business\u2019s <em>Mornings with Maria Bartiromo<\/em>. \u201cAnd I think the media, it\u2019s time for them to finally step up after they\u2019ve been complicit in this cover-up by the Democrat Party over the last four years and ask really tough questions of Jill Biden and of the Biden family about what they know about our president\u2019s state. Clearly, Jill Biden obviously knows her husband better than anyone else in this country, in this world, and she too continues to lie to the American people. It really is shameful. She added that the party is unlikely to replace Biden ahead of the presidential election and that the party \u201cdid this to themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Polling data conducted after Thursday\u2019s debate found that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3064924\/majority-voters-do-not-believe-biden-cognitive-ability-serve-president-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>72% of respondents<\/a> did not believe Joe Biden had the mental and cognitive health to serve as the commander in chief. This is up from the 65% of voters who believed he did not have the mental ability to serve as president before the debate. <\/p>\n<p>The first lady stated that she and her family will \u201ccontinue to fight\u201d ahead of the election <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3064802\/biden-expected-discuss-campaign-future-family-camp-david-trip\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>during a family visit at Camp David<\/a>, where many expected the family to discuss the president\u2019s reelection campaign.
