Tillis suggested \u200cthat, due to visible signs of aging and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/project-veritas-strips-cnn-naked\/\" title=\"Project Veritas Strips CNN Naked\">cognitive decline<\/a>, President Biden should \u2062consider stepping\u2062 aside for the nation&#8217;s\u200b sake. He recommended that if Biden does not acknowledge his\u200c unfitness to serve, the Cabinet should be prepared to invoke the 25th Amendment, which allows the Vice President to \u200bassume presidential duties if the president is deemed unable to perform\u2063 them. Tillis described\u2064 Biden&#8217;s debate performance as painful and abnormal\u2062 for someone in such\u2063 a prominent position. \u2063This sentiment is shared by other Republican\u2064 members, like Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), who introduced a resolution urging Vice President \u2063Kamala Harris \u200bto \u200bconvene the Cabinet for\u2064 a 25th Amendment\u200b assessment, and Speaker Mike Johnson\u200d (R-LA), who has also called on Cabinet members to \u200bevaluate Biden&#8217;s capability to fulfill his presidential duties.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Sen. <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/thom-tillis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Thom Tillis<\/a> (R-NC) wrote a letter Friday to his Senate Republican colleagues about the implications of President Joe Biden&rsquo;s performance at Thursday&rsquo;s <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/debates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>debate<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the letter, obtained by the <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/senate\/4747562-thom-tillis-joe-biden-presidential-debate-2024-election-25th-amendment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><em>Hill<\/em><\/a>, Tillis suggested that Biden, 81, should step aside &ldquo;for the sake of the country&rdquo; and that if he is &ldquo;unaware of his own unfitness to continue serving,&rdquo; the Cabinet should consider invoking the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3063775\/what-is-the-25th-amendment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>25th Amendment<\/a>, by which members can vote to transfer authority to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-defector-emails-pipeline-to-obama-admin-seen-as-currency\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden Defector Emails: &#039;Pipeline&#039; to Obama Admin Seen as &#039;Currency&#039;\">vice president<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Tillis wrote that watching the presidential debate &ldquo;was painful, and I truly feel bad for President Biden.&rdquo; The senator said physical and cognitive decline &ldquo;is a normal part of the aging process for many people&rdquo; but that displaying it on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bill-barr-should-have-stepped-up-president-trump-goes-off-on-bill-barr-over-his-silence-on-hunter-biden-video\/\" title=\"\u201cBill Barr Should Have Stepped Up!\u201d \u2013 President Trump Goes Off on Bill Barr over His Silence on Hunter Biden (VIDEO)\">debate stage<\/a> &ldquo;is most certainly not normal.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The call echoes those made by some Republicans in the House of Representatives, including Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/live-blog-posts\/chip-roy-file-resolution-25th-amendment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Chip Roy<\/a> (R-TX), who filed a resolution that would compel Vice President Kamala Harris to convene the Cabinet and activate Section 4 of the 25th Amendment to declare Biden &ldquo;incapable of executing the duties of his office.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3063723\/house-gop-calls-biden-removal-office-debate-performance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>asked<\/a> Cabinet members to &ldquo;search their hearts&rdquo; and consider whether the president is capable of carrying out the remainder of his term.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;If Biden cannot speak coherently, articulate his policies, and is unfit to perform after weeks of preparation, how will he perform when America is truly tested by a national security crisis, the kind of historic, high-stakes test his predecessors have been confronted with?&rdquo; Tillis wrote, adding that he believes the president is &ldquo;a decent man who cares about the country.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>However, Tillis determined, Biden is &ldquo;unfit to continue serving as leader of the free world.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Harris and Cabinet members have faced calls to invoke the 25th Amendment before.
