Only 21% \u2062of \u2064independents think Biden is the best option, while\u200c 29% remain uncertain. In contrast, 39% of \u2063independents feel the Republican Party should nominate former President Donald Trump, with 37% advocating for a different\u2064 candidate and 24% undecided. This marks a shift from the 2020 \u200belection, where Biden had won\u2063 the support of independent voters by a margin of 13 percentage points.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_79\">\n<p>Fifty percent of independents think the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/democratic-party\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Democratic Party\">Democratic Party<\/a> should nominate someone other than President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Joe Biden<\/a> to have the best chance of winning in November, according to a Friday YouGov <a href=\"https:\/\/today.yougov.com\/topics\/politics\/survey-results\/daily\/2024\/06\/28\/3f653\/2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>survey<\/a> that was conducted after the first presidential <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/debates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"debate\">debate<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Just 21% of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/independents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>independents<\/a> said Biden was the best option, while 29% said they were not sure.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By contrast, 39% of independents said the Republican Party should nominate former President Donald Trump to have the best chance of winning, with just 37% saying the party should nominate someone else and 24% being unsure.<\/p>\n<p>Biden won independent voters by 13 percentage points in the 2020 election, a shift from 2016, when they voted for Trump by a 4-point margin.<\/p>\n<p>Although independents favored Trump by 2 points last month in a Fox News poll, they preferred Biden by 9 points in the outlet&rsquo;s latest June <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/official-polls\/fox-news-poll-three-point-shift-biden-trump-matchup-since-may\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>poll<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Biden&rsquo;s lackluster performance in Thursday&rsquo;s debate has sparked panic from Democrats who worry that concerns over Biden&rsquo;s age and mental acuity could cost them November&rsquo;s election.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 30% of Democrats said their party should nominate someone else, and only 53% were confident that a Biden nomination was the best option ahead of the election, according to YouGov&rsquo;s poll.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/republican-party\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Republicans<\/a> were far more confident in their own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-arizona-state-rep-issues-call-to-withhold-states-electoral-college-votes-to-joe-biden-due-to-significant-evidence-of-fraud\/\" title=\"BREAKING: Arizona State Rep Issues Call to Withhold State&#039;s Electoral College Votes to Joe Biden Due to Significant Evidence of Fraud\">party&#038;rsquo<\/a>;s presumptive nominee, with 79% saying that Trump would give their party the best shot at victory.<\/p>\n<p>Out of all the nearly 2,650 adults surveyed in the United States, 49% said the Democratic Party should nominate someone other than Biden, while 38% said the Republican Party should nominate someone other than Trump.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Biden attempted to ease voter anxiety at a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/north-carolina\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>North Carolina<\/a> rally earlier on Friday, telling his supporters that he &ldquo;know[s] how to do this job.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I know I&rsquo;m not a young man.
