Bannon was convicted\u2063 for not complying with subporesses from the House January 6 committee. Despite his efforts to delay\u200c his sentence, the Supreme Court upheld a lower court&#8217;s decision to begin his \u200bsentence \u200cimmediately, following affirmation of\u2064 his conviction by an appeals\u2062 because the lower court. Bannon is required\u200d to report to a prison in Danbury, Connecticut,\u200d by Monday. This decision followed a recommendation by \u2063the\u200b Justice Department to the justices to proceed with the sentence enforcement.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_79\">\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/supreme-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Supreme Court<\/a> rejected a petition by former Trump adviser and podcast host <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/steve-bannon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Steve Bannon<\/a>, who sought to avoid reporting to prison while he appeals his criminal conviction for defying subpoenas from the House <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/january-6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Jan. 6\">Jan. 6<\/a> committee.<\/p>\n<p>The high court said Friday that it saw no reason to disagree with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/justice-alito-moves-up-deadline-for-supreme-court-briefing-in-pennsylvania-lawsuit-to-flip-the-election\/\" title=\"Justice Alito Moves Up Deadline For Supreme Court Briefing in Pennsylvania Lawsuit to Flip the Election\">lower court&#038;rsquo<\/a>;s order to lift a stay on Bannon&rsquo;s long-delayed sentence after an appeals court recently affirmed his criminal conviction for defying the now-defunct committee&rsquo;s demands. (AP Photo\/Alex Brandon)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/supreme-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Justice Department\">Justice Department<\/a> on Wednesday urged the nine justices to deny Bannon&rsquo;s effort to continue the delay of his four<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ohio-state-researcher-sentenced-to-prison-for-concealing-ties-to-chinese-spy-program\/\" title=\"Ohio State Researcher Sentenced to Prison for Concealing Ties to Chinese Spy Program\">-month prison sentence<\/a>, which would see the staunch pro-Trump and conservative podcaster behind bars for the rest of the 2024 election season.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This Court recently denied a similar application for release by another defendant who engaged in complete defiance of a subpoena issued by the same committee that subpoenaed applicant,&rdquo; Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar wrote in a court filing, referring to former Trump adviser Peter Navarro. &ldquo;For reasons set forth in more detail below, the same result is warranted here.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Navarro, who was sentenced in March to four months at a federal prison in Miami for the same charges as Bannon, is slated to be released sometime in mid-July.<\/p>\n<p>The DOJ&rsquo;s Wednesday filing was in response to Bannon&rsquo;s petition asking the high court to allow him to remain out of prison while he further appeals U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols&rsquo;s order to report to prison by Monday after a tumultuous hearing earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>Before the Supreme Court rejected Bannon&rsquo;s request, his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fncs-carlson-if-youre-looking-for-election-rigging-look-no-further-than-media-treatment-of-hunter-biden-saga\/\" title=\"FNC&#039;s Carlson: &#039;If You&#039;re Looking for Election Rigging, Look No Further&#039; Than Media Treatment of Hunter Biden Saga\">legal counsel<\/a> sent a reply to the government, reminding the high court that the House&rsquo;s Bipartisan Legal Advisory Group voted on Tuesday to &ldquo;withdraw the brief the House had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/federal-court-rejects-trumps-special-master-review-instead-trusting-fbi-completely\/\" title=\"Federal Court Rejects Trump\u2019s Special Master Review, Instead Trusting FBI Completely\">previously submitted<\/a> against Mr. Bannon in his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/idaho-murders-kohbergers-legal-team-requests-banning-cameras-in-courtroom\/\" title=\"Kohberger&#039;s lawyers seek camera ban in Idaho murder trial.\">trial court proceedings<\/a> in 2022.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bannon&rsquo;s counsel noted the House&rsquo;s amicus brief would be filed during their client&rsquo;s proceedings before the full U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.<\/p>\n<p>A three-judge panel on the circuit court previously rejected Bannon&rsquo;s effort to overturn his conviction.
