The Biden reelection\u200d campaign has significant funds, totaling $195 million, \u2062which adds an additional layer of complexity to the \u200dsituation.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_79\">\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/democrats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Democrats<\/a> grapple with President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Joe Biden<\/a>&rsquo;s poor performance on the debate stage Thursday night, some are wondering <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3063208\/how-replace-democratic-nominee-biden-debate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>if and how he could be replaced<\/a>, but campaign finance laws might stand in the way of that.<\/p>\n<p>The campaign to reelect Biden has fundraised no small amount of money &mdash; it has $195 million on hand as of the last time campaign funds were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voanews.com\/a\/breaking-down-the-2024-us-presidential-election-campaign-funds-\/7637216.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>reported<\/a>. Despite the poor performance, Biden&rsquo;s campaign is reporting it raised <a href=\"https:\/\/ny1.com\/nyc\/all-boroughs\/news\/2024\/06\/28\/biden-campaign-14-million-debate-fundraising\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>$14 million<\/a> through online fundraising the night of the debate and the following morning.<\/p>\n<p>Still, if Biden does in fact drop out of the race, the money can only be transferred to one woman: Vice President Kamala Harris. Campaign finance laws do not allow for just anyone nominated by a party to receive funds that were not directly donated to them.<\/p>\n<p>Because Harris is on the ticket, however, she would be the only one who could replace Biden while keeping the pot of cash.
