Other potential replacements are Democratic Governors Gavin\u2062 Newsom,\u2064 Gretchen\u200c Whitmer, Wes Moore, \u200band Josh \u2064Shapiro, notable for their youth,\u2062 political \u200cmoderation, and\u2063 leadership \u200cin significant states. Additionally, Secretary of Transportation Pete\u200d Buttigieg and Senator Bernie Sanders are considered possible replacements, though \u2062Sanders&#8217; age remains a concern despite his sharpness. Each <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/6-republicans-throw-their-hat-in-for-speaker-after-jordan-fails-to-secure-nomination\/\" title=\"6 GOP Candidates Vie for Speaker After Jordan Fails to Secure Nomination\">candidate brings unique strengths<\/a>,\u200d but none have declared intentions to abandon their current positions \u2062for a presidential run.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Joe Biden&rsquo;s<\/a> presidential <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/debates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>debate <\/a>performance, which many said was disastrous due to his mental errors and inability to dispel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-quietly-taking-steps-to-compensate-for-bidens-age-report\/\" title=\"Report: White House discreetly addressing Biden&#039;s age-related concerns.\">age-related concerns<\/a>, immediately had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/democrats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Democrats<\/a> speculating on whether he should be replaced as the Democratic presidential nominee.<\/p>\n<p>While Biden has enough delegates to be named the Democratic nominee at the Democratic National Convention, the Democrats could opt for an &ldquo;open convention&rdquo; in which delegates vote for their nominee choice. If that happens, barring something else drastic, here are some of their choices.<\/p>\n<h3>Vice President Kamala Harris<\/h3>\n<p>Vice President Kamala Harris would be the closest extension of the Biden administration given her position as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-email-reportedly-names-kamala-harris-others-as-key-contacts-for-joint-venture-with-china-energy-co\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden Email Reportedly Names Kamala Harris, Others as Key Contacts for &#039;Joint Venture&#039; With China Energy Co.\">vice-president<\/a>. She&rsquo;s much younger than Biden at 59 years old and likely propelled Biden in part to his 2020 win because she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/elections\/2020\/08\/15\/kamala-harris-joe-biden-black-voters-2020-election\/3308312001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>motivated<\/a> black voters.<\/p>\n<p>One direct way Harris could become president is the 25th Amendment, which deals with presidential succession. Harris, along with members of Biden&rsquo;s cabinet, could invoke it in order to remove Biden as president and appoint Harris.<\/p>\n<h3>Democratic Govs. Gavin Newsom, Gretchen Whitmer, Wes Moore, and Josh Shapiro<\/h3>\n<p>All four Democratic governors rumored to be good candidates to replace Biden have commonalities: Relative youth, their positioning as political moderates, and their governance of swing states or states with high electoral vote counts, excluding Moore in both cases.<\/p>\n<p>Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) appears to have the most support of the four as he governs one of the most prominent states, California, and is considered a <a href=\"https:\/\/calmatters.org\/politics\/2019\/10\/gavin-newsom-moderate-governor-california-political-spectrum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>moderate<\/a> compared to many of the state&rsquo;s Democrats. He&rsquo;s one of the most well-known Democrats since his 2019 election, and other politicians, such as Ronald Reagan, have run successful presidential campaigns after being governor of California.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, Govs. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2024\/06\/28\/who-replace-biden-2024-election-democrats\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Gretchen Whitmer <\/a>(D-MI), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/gov-wes-moore-is-driven-charismaticand-maybe-americas-future-president\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Wes Moore<\/a> (D-MD), and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/gov-wes-moore-is-driven-charismaticand-maybe-americas-future-president\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Josh Shapiro<\/a> (D-PA) have seen rapid rises in support. None of the four ran for the 2020 nomination and appear unlikely to drop their governorships, which won&rsquo;t end until 2026.<\/p>\n<h3>Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg <\/h3>\n<p>Pete Buttigieg, secretary of transportation, could be another internal Biden administration choice for president, given his rise from mayor of South Bend, Indiana, to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/you-took-it-hook-line-and-sinker-rand-paul-grills-fbi-director-over-2016-trump-russia-investigation\/\" title=\"\u2018You Took It Hook, Line And Sinker\u2019: Rand Paul Grills FBI Director Over 2016 Trump-Russia Investigation\">major presidential candidate<\/a> in 2020. He&rsquo;s the only Biden cabinet official, excluding Harris, to mount a serious presidential campaign as he finished fifth in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary popular vote.<\/p>\n<p>Biden then appointed him secretary of transportation with an 86-13 Senate vote, 36 Republicans voted yes, to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.senate.gov\/legislative\/LIS\/roll_call_votes\/vote1171\/vote_117_1_00011.htm?congress=117&amp;session=1&amp;vote=00011#top\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>confirm<\/a> him. Buttigieg is fourteenth in the order of presidential succession.<\/p>\n<p>He recently resurfaced in the public eye after his contentious debate against Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA), prompting some social media <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/nickjamesthe1\/status\/1806351334909636729\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>users<\/a> to call for him to be president.<\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<h3>Sen. Bernie <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/cenkuygur\/status\/1806512957834363273\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Sanders<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), former presidential candidate, is an obvious choice given the large amount of support he drummed up in both the 2016 and 2020 Democratic presidential primaries, though ultimately falling short to Hillary Clinton and Biden, respectively. However, he&rsquo;s a year older than Biden at 82 years old, making it unlikely he could dispel any age-related concerns. Sanders does seem sharper than Biden, though, exemplified in a quick response to a reporter&rsquo;s question about the 2024 presidential election.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<div>\n<blockquote data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<div lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>Sen. She didn&rsquo;t run in the 2020 Democratic primaries and she wouldn&rsquo;t completely dispel Biden&rsquo;s age-related concerns, given she turns 77 years old this fall. <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/WalshFreedom\/status\/1806673423092826164\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Some<\/a> have endorsed her possible candidacy, but she&rsquo;s given no indication that she will run again.<\/p>\n<h3>Michelle Obama<\/h3>\n<p>This choice appears unlikely as former first lady Michelle Obama has never <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jean-carnahan-dead-first-woman-to-represent-missouri-in-senate-dies\/\" title=\"Jean Carnahan, the first woman to represent Missouri in the Senate, has passed away\">sought political office<\/a>, but if she did, she&rsquo;d likely receive widespread support due to her husband&rsquo;s electoral success and her profile as a politically involved first lady.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&rsquo;s been rumored that Obama <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2024\/06\/27\/michelle-obama-private-frustration-bidens-2024-election\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>expressed frustration<\/a> with the Biden family over Hunter Biden&rsquo;s contentious divorce with her friend, Kathleen Buhle. If that&rsquo;s true, Obama could be less committed to Biden as the Democratic candidate and a bit more likely to run.
