During the debate, ‍Trump is reported to have showcased more restraint compared to⁤ his ⁣previous debate appearances, a change from his historically aggressive style. Despite this restraint, his campaign manager emphasized it was‌ not ‍a strategic change but rather inherent to ‍Trump’s robust debate style. Various Republican figures‌ commented on the debate, noting Trump’s command over⁣ the debate and criticizing Biden’s performance. Trump’s responses during the debate hinted at his previous debate style, including⁣ making sharp retorts to Biden’s comments about ‍his handling of Medicare and other issues. This event highlighted contrasting views⁤ on leadership‍ styles and visions for America’s future between the two candidates.

ATLANTA, Georgia — Former President Donald Trump resisted his worst impulses during his opening 2024 debate against President Joe Biden.

In a prior interview with the Washington Examiner, Trump appeared to be retrospective about his opening debate against Biden four years ago, after which he was criticized for being too aggressive and pugilistic.
