Douglas Golden<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span> \u00a0June 28, 2024 at 3:37am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>Viewers weren\u2019t buying what President Joe Biden was selling on stage during Thursday night\u2019s presidential debate.<\/p>\n<p>Literally.<\/p>\n<p>During the course of the 90-minute match between the president and presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump \u2014 in which even the liberal media <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-cnns-van-jones-drops-biden-wants-race-debate-failure-didnt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">would later acknowledge<\/a> the president\u2019s performance was so bad as to inspire \u201cpanic\u201d among elected Democrats and those in Biden world \u2014 betting odds on the U.S. presidency on decentralized platform Polymarket shot up significantly in Trump\u2019s favor.<\/p>\n<p>Not only that, but the seemingly settled race for Democratic presidential nominee also opened up on the betting platform, with less than seven in 10 bettors saying Biden will walk away as the presidential standard-bearer at the Democratic National Convention this August.<\/p>\n<p>In case you missed the trainwreck that was the debate, the earliest in presidential history, it was probably best summed by a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-trump-roasts-biden-joe-crashes-answer-dont-think-knows-said-either\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">response from Trump<\/a> after a meandering Biden quote about border security that wasn\u2019t even remotely factual: \u201cI really don\u2019t know what he said at the end of that sentence. Brief moments of lucidity were only that: brief.<\/p>\n<p>Even an establishment media generally devoted to excoriating Trump didn\u2019t spend that much time doing the usual slanted fact-checks in post-debate analysis. Instead, the talk was dominated by just how bad what they\u2019d just witnessed was for the sitting president \u2014 and what Democrats were saying about it.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Will Democrats now replace Joe Biden on the 2024 ticket?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>MSNBC\u2019s Joy Reid \u2014 a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-joy-reid-says-poetic-people-prosecuting-trump-black-deis-bringing-home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prime example<\/a> of Trump Derangement Syndrome, if there ever was one \u2014 said that those she talked to all conveyed a sense \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NicoleMSilverio\/status\/1806520588019580979\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">approaching panic<\/a>.\u201d CNN\u2019s John King went further, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JohnSmithNew2\/status\/1806520194367619165\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">saying<\/a> there was \u201ca deep, a wide, and a very impressive panic in the Democratic Party.\u201d CNN\u2019s Van Jones, who worked with Joe Biden and in the Obama administration: \u201cIt\u2019s not just panic, it\u2019s pain.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">CNN feels like Biden\u2019s funeral<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not just panic, it\u2019s pain.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/h3MKtuiCcu\">pic.twitter.com\/h3MKtuiCcu<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 KanekoaTheGreat (@KanekoaTheGreat) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KanekoaTheGreat\/status\/1806523693906141444?\">June 28, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>And that Democratic pain could be felt deeply on Polymarket, where Trump \u2014 already the betting favorite \u2014 soared as the night went on.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s worth noting that before the debate, Trump was at 60 percent odds, with Biden at 34 percent and a variety of sundry other candidates in the single digits.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Polymarket?\">@Polymarket<\/a> \u2013 Presidential Election Winner<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udfe5 Trump: 60% (new high)<br \/> \ud83d\udfe6 Biden: 34%<br \/> \ud83d\udfe6 M. Any nominee who gets foisted into the role would have to explain why the Democratic Party played along with the notion the leader of the free world wasn\u2019t senile when pulling him off the ticket is, in fact, an admission that he is.<\/p>\n<p>However, eyes don\u2019t lie, and markets don\u2019t, either.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s no politics and no spin in transactional betting. The only thing that matters is being right. That\u2019s why they\u2019ve been more accurate than polls or punditry in the past: Because the only stake isn\u2019t policy or getting your guy into office, it\u2019s winning money. And that\u2019s what makes this even more devastating to Democrats than Biden\u2019s crash-and-burn on stage in Atlanta.<\/p>\n<p>This can\u2019t be brushed off as a 90-minute \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/another-one-biden-seems-lock-trying-hop-suv-media-will-call-cheap-fake-real\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cheap fake<\/a>,\u201d and now everyone knows the reality of our president\u2019s profoundly diminished state.<\/p>\n<p>You can bet on it.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>\u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d Those 12 words have been stuck in my head since I first read them.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Former Lt.
