PILF&#8217;s investigation discovered multiple instances where voters were registered at clearly commercial locations \u2064that could not serve as residences. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-makes-it-harder-to-oust-unions\/\" title=\"Biden Makes It Harder to Oust Unions\">foundation argues<\/a> that this undermines the integrity \u200dof the voter\u200b rolls, particularly\u200d in\u200c light of Nevada&#8217;s \u2063expansion\u2064 of mail-in voting\u2062 in\u200c 2021, which mandates\u200b that mail-in ballots be sent \u200bautomatically\u200b to all\u2062 registered\u2062 voters. The legal action \u200daims to compel election officials to verify \u2063and \u2064correct these addresses to ensure \u2063compliance \u200dwith state laws that\u2064 require\u200b voters to register\u2062 from their actual residential addresses. This\u2064 issue appears to extend beyond Clark\u2062 County, touching other \u200careas including\u2063 Washoe County. PILF\u2062 has expressed concern through various\u2064 means, including direct\u200d communication attempts with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/group-our-vote-matters-is-suing-facebook-dominion-mark-zuckerberg-certain-state-officials-others-for-infringing-upon-right-to-vote-assemble-and-speak-freely-you-can-jo\/\" title=\"Group \u201cOur Vote Matters\u201d Is Suing Facebook, Dominion, Mark Zuckerberg, Certain State Officials, Others for Infringing Upon Right to Vote, Assemble and Speak Freely \u2013 You Can Join Too\">local election officials<\/a> and \u200da public awareness campaign highlighting the\u2063 discrepancies through video interviews at questionable registration \u200caddresses. \u2062Despite these efforts, \u200dPILF claims that their requests for investigation have been ignored, prompting the \u2063need for \u200dlegal intervention.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<figure>                         <\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Public Interest Legal Foundation filed a petition to compel officials in Clark County, Nevada, which contains Las Vegas, to investigate and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-officials-worked-with-big-tech-to-censor-election-misinformation-on-social-media\/\" title=\"BREAKING: DOCUMENTS: Facebook And Twitter Were Told By Biden Campaign What To Censor On Social Media\">correct voter rolls<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>PILF found hundreds of voters were <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/06\/11\/william-sitton-doesnt-live-here-tracking-nevadas-dirty-voter-rolls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">registered<\/a> to receive mail-in ballots at addresses including strip clubs, casinos, and even the <a href=\"https:\/\/publicinterestlegal.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Petition-for-Writ-of-Mandamus.pdf\">Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport<\/a>, so it is taking action to make Nevada officials investigate incorrect addresses on the state\u2019s voter rolls. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Clark County, people are registered to vote from strip clubs, casinos, gas stations, and more crazy addresses where it appears no one could reasonably live,\u201d said Public Interest Legal Foundation President J. Christian Adams in a <a href=\"https:\/\/publicinterestlegal.org\/press\/lawsuit-strip-clubs-casinos-gas-stations-and-bars-on-the-clark-county-voter-roll\/\">press release<\/a>. \u201cWe are asking the court to force Nevada election officials to investigate any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/william-sitton-doesnt-live-here-tracking-nevadas-dirty-voter-rolls\/\" title=\"William Sitton Doesn't Reside Here: Examining Nevada's Flawed Voter Lists\">improper commercial addresses<\/a> on the voter roll.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>PILF <a href=\"https:\/\/publicinterestlegal.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Petition-for-Writ-of-Mandamus.pdf\">filed<\/a> a petition for mandamus on June 25 in the 8th District Court for the State of Nevada as part of a lawsuit. The move would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrat-fixer-marc-elias-firm-steps-in-to-stop-disastrous-election-system-fix\/\" title=\"Marc Elias' Firm Intervenes to Halt 'Disastrous Election System' Overhaul\">force election officials<\/a> in Clark County to investigate commercial addresses on voter rolls and make corrections where needed. <\/p>\n<p>The number of suspicious addresses on the state voter rolls is alarming because Nevada <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/state-watch\/556729-nevada-governor-signs-bill-permanently-expanding-mail-in-voting-to-all\/\">expanded<\/a> mail-in voting in 2021, requiring county clerks to automatically <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leg.state.nv.us\/nrs\/nrs-293.html#NRS293Sec269911\">send<\/a> mail-in ballots to each registered voter. State law <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leg.state.nv.us\/nrs\/nrs-293.html#NRS293Sec269911\">requires<\/a> citizens to register to vote from the address where they reside.<\/p>\n<p>Lauren Bis, director of communications and engagement for PILF, approached a bartender in a YouTube <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4Cpz61NIQe8\">video<\/a> of the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was looking for Ronald or William Phelps,\u201d Bis said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know who that is,\u201d the bartender replied.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cSo they don\u2019t live here?\u201d Bis asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the bar? No,\u201d the bartender said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Bis interviewed several individuals at locations such as restaurants, casinos, and jails to ask if the voter registered at the address actually lives there. The answers in the video were a resounding no.<\/p>\n<p>Members of PILF wrote Clark County Registrar of Voters Lorena Portillo on June 3 asking her to investigate the address discrepancies, according to the petition. But the group alleges she never responded, causing harm to the public.<\/p>\n<h2>A Statewide Issue<\/h2>\n<p>PILF also <a href=\"https:\/\/publicinterestlegal.org\/featured\/lawsuit-nevada-officials-need-to-investigate-and-fix-commercial-addresses-on-the-voter-roll\/\">found<\/a> address discrepancies in Washoe County, which contains Reno and part of Lake Tahoe, so the group <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/06\/11\/william-sitton-doesnt-live-here-tracking-nevadas-dirty-voter-rolls\/\">filed<\/a> a <a href=\"https:\/\/publicinterestlegal.org\/cases\/washoe-county\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">similar petition<\/a> in May.<\/p>\n<p>County election officials automatically <a href=\"https:\/\/publicinterestlegal.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/NV-2022G-Mail-Ballot-Rejects.pdf\">sent<\/a> more than 95,500 ballots to \u201cundeliverable or \u2018bad\u2019 address[es]\u201d across Nevada in the 2022 Senate race between Republican Adam Laxalt and Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto, PILF previously found. Masto <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2022\/11\/08\/us\/elections\/results-nevada-us-senate.html\">won<\/a> that race by a margin of fewer than 8,000 votes.<\/p>\n<p>The group also discovered Clark County sent <a href=\"https:\/\/publicinterestlegal.org\/reports\/92k-clark-county-nv-mail-ballots-went-to-wrong-addresses-in-2020-presidential-election\/\">more than 92,300 ballots<\/a> to wrong or out-of-date addresses in the 2020 presidential election. Now-President Joe Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2020\/11\/03\/us\/elections\/results-nevada.html\">won<\/a> the state by fewer than 33,600 votes.<\/p>\n<p>Even as far back as the 2020 primary, PILF <a href=\"https:\/\/publicinterestlegal.org\/pilf-files\/NV-2020-Primary-1P-1.pdf\">found<\/a> more than 223,000 ballots went to the wrong addresses in Clark County. More than 93,500 \u2014 or 42% \u2014 of these were listed as \u201cactive\u201d registrants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must have this fixed before the 2024 election,\u201d Adams said. \u201cOtherwise, some of these strip clubs and casinos will receive ballots in the mail.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Logan Washburn is a staff writer covering election integrity.
