The riot itself\u200c no longer ranks among the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/is-the-jan-6-committee-changing-their-strategy\/\" title=\"Is the Jan 6 Committee Changing Their Strategy?\">top voter concerns<\/a>\u200c according to polls, but it continues to\u200d be\u2064 a significant topic in the \u200bmedia, \u2062particularly on networks like\u200d CNN, which used it frequently in panels \u2064and\u200b discussions. During the\u2062 debate, moderated by Jake Tapper \u2062of CNN, Trump was questioned about his actions on that day. <\/p>\n<p>Trump defended himself by stating that he had offered 10,000 National Guard troops to bolster \u200cCapitol security,\u2062 a request he claims was denied by then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. He referenced newly published footage suggesting Pelosi expressed regret over the National Guard&#8217;s \u200cabsence on January 6. The \u200cdiscourse around this \u200dfootage depicts Pelosi taking responsibility for the security failures.<\/p>\n<p>Conversely, President Biden accused Trump \u2063of inciting \u200bthe riot and claimed \u200bthat Trump\u2064 was passive \u200bduring the unfolding\u2063 violence, allegedly watching for three hours\u200c without <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tech-expert-confirms-voting-machines-connected-to-internet-during-ga-senate-subcommittee-on-elections\/\" title=\"Tech expert confirms voting machines connected to internet during Ga. senate subcommittee on elections\">taking action<\/a>. Biden&#8217;s narrative focused \u200don Trump&#8217;s encouragement\u2063 of\u2062 the rioters, describing them as patriots, and highlighted the lack \u200cof immediate \u2064action\u2062 from Trump to stop the riot. This portrayal \u2062by Biden reflects a commonly referenced narrative by Democrats and has\u200b been criticized by Republican sources\u2062 as an exaggeration and misrepresentation of the events that unfolded.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>An hours-long riot at the Capitol four years ago doesn\u2019t even rank among the <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/1675\/most-important-problem.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">top four<\/a> issues facing voters as they go to cast their ballots between two presidents this fall.<\/p>\n<p>But the turmoil on Jan. 6, 2021, certainly claimed the lion\u2019s share of coverage on CNN for the next two years, if not four, as the network became the go-to outlet for Democrats to spread conspiracies surrounding the isolated episode of right-wing violence. So naturally, the network where former Rep. Adam Kinzinger <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/01\/05\/adam-kinzinger-finally-got-his-dream-job-as-a-cnn-talking-head\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ran<\/a> for a paycheck once it became clear he would never be reelected deployed debate moderator Jake Tapper to bring up the subject in Thursday night\u2019s 90-minute debate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat do you say to voters who believe that you violated [your constitutional] oath through your actions and inaction on Jan. 6, 2021, and worry that you\u2019ll do that again,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n<p>Trump answered by placing blame squarely with then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who refused to accept Trump\u2019s request for the Capitol to be reinforced by 10,000 National Guard troops for the joint session of Congress.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI offered her 10,000 soldiers or National Guard, and she turned them down,\u201d Trump said. Pelosi\u2019s deputies on the House Select Committee on Jan. 6, however, refused to investigate the speaker\u2019s conduct and even <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/08\/exclusive-liz-cheney-january-6-committee-suppressed-exonerating-evidence-of-trumps-push-for-national-guard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">concealed<\/a> evidence of Democratic leadership rejecting Capitol reinforcements.<\/p>\n<p>The former president also made reference to recently <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/06\/11\/j6-footage-shows-pelosi-expressing-regret-over-national-guard-failure-i-take-responsibility\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">published footage<\/a> of Pelosi on Jan. 6 claiming \u201cresponsibility\u201d for the security failures. Tape released from the House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight this month showed the then-speaker in an SUV speaking to her chief of staff, Terri McCullough, as they were taken to Fort McNair.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy weren\u2019t the National Guard there to begin with?\u201d Pelosi asked incredulously through a face mask. \u201cThey clearly didn\u2019t know, and I take responsibility for not having them just prepare for more.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/realDonaldTrump?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@realDonaldTrump<\/a> responding to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CNN?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@CNN<\/a> question on Jan 6: I offered [Pelosi] 10,000 soldiers or National Guard and she turned them down. And the mayor of [Washington, D.C.], in writing\u2026turned it down\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Y6dLvVKtCF\">pic.twitter.com\/Y6dLvVKtCF<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Daily Signal (@DailySignal) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DailySignal\/status\/1806511911900479677?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 28, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>President Joe Biden responded with the same accusations that aired on a loop over CNN\u2019s endless panels for four years (and again in Tapper\u2019s question): that Donald Trump \u201c<em>encouraged<\/em>\u201d the riot and <em>did nothing<\/em> for three hours as the violence unfolded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe encouraged those folks to go up on Capitol Hill,\u201d Biden said, adding Trump \u201csat there for three hours, three hours, watching, begging, being begged by his vice president and a number of his colleagues on the Republican side as well, to do something, to call for a stop, to end it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInstead, he talked about these people being patriots,\u201d Biden added. <\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p>An honest look at the timeline on the day of the riot, however, reveals the Democrats\u2019 talking points, exploited by the incumbent president, are nothing more than a far-left fantasy of Republican apathy. The three-hour timeline offered by Biden, which became one of the most <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/19\/ap-spreads-disinformation-by-adopting-j6-committees-fabricated-timeline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">popular narratives<\/a> of Democrats and the media when speaking about the riot, is revisionist history for guilty partisans eager to cover up their own negligence.<\/p>\n<p>The Washington Post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/nation\/interactive\/2021\/capitol-insurrection-visual-timeline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">time-stamps<\/a> the first break-in at the Capitol for roughly 2:15 p.m. And <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2021\/01\/12\/us\/capitol-mob-timeline.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according<\/a> to The New York Times, Trump wasn\u2019t even finished speaking when the first barriers around the building were breached.<\/p>\n<p>Trump tweeted at 2:38 p.m. to \u201csupport our Capitol Police\u201d and to \u201cStay Peaceful!\u201d<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Please support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement. They are truly on the side of our Country. Stay peaceful!<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/realDonaldTrump\/status\/1346904110969315332?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 6, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Trump\u2019s former director of national intelligence reminded followers on X that the former president pled with demonstrators again at 3:13 p.m. to \u201cremain peaceful\u201d and \u201crespect the Law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But \u201c[Tapper] didn\u2019t mention this,\u201d wrote Ric Grenell.
