Kennedy Jr. (We \u200bThe People party) and Cornel \u2064West (Justice for \u2064All \u200dParty of North Carolina). The decision, reached by a 3-2 vote\u200d within the board, postpones\u2062 the certification of the parties&#8217; efforts to qualify for the November ballot. The three Democrat members opposed the motion to certify,\u200b while\u2063 the two Republican members supported it.<\/p>\n<p>North \u2064Carolina&#8217;s \u200belection board composition reflects\u200d the\u2062 governor\u2019s party, currently led by Democrat Roy Cooper.\u200c A recent GOP initiative to balance the board\u2019s\u200c partisanship was overturned in March. The We The People \u200cand Justice for All Party reportedly submitted the requisite number \u2062of voter signatures to qualify \u200bfor ballot access, but the \u2064board delayed \u2064certification citing \u2063the need for further review \u200bof the organizations&#8217; operations, including their signature collection \u2064methods and the information presented to voters during the petition \u200dprocess.<\/p>\n<p>Allegations \u2064from\u200d the Clear Choice\u200d Action, a pro-Biden super PAC, \u200dalso challenge the authenticity of the We\u200d The People party&#8217;s signature collection, accusing them of \u2064misleading \u2062signers. The board\u200c is set to reconsider the issue\u200d on July 9, with broader \u200dimplications hinting at potential partisan influences\u200b in\u2062 North Carolina\u2019s election framework.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>On Wednesday, North Carolina\u2019s Democrat-controlled elections board (NCSBE) temporarily denied third party presidential candidates <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/robert-f-kennedy-jr-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Robert F. Kennedy Jr.<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/cornel-west\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cornel West<\/a> the ability to appear on the state\u2019s November ballot. <\/p>\n<p>In a 3-2 decision, the NCSBE postponed certifying efforts by the We The People party (Kennedy) and Justice for All Party of North Carolina (West) to acquire ballot access for this fall\u2019s elections. The board\u2019s three Democrat members voted against the motion to certify, while the two Republican members voted in favor.<\/p>\n<p>Under North Carolina law, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/georgia-state-senator-reported-results-must-be-viewed-as-untrustworthy\/\" title=\"Georgia State Senator: \u201cReported Results Must Be Viewed As Untrustworthy\u201d\">state elections board<\/a> is effectively controlled by the party of the governor, a position currently held by Democrat Roy Cooper. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/corporate-giants-say-anti-lgbt-law-would-hurt-ugandas-economy\/\" title=\"Corporate giants say anti-LGBT law would hurt Uganda\u2019s economy\">law recently passed<\/a> by the GOP-controlled General Assembly that sought to evenly split the board\u2019s partisanship was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wunc.org\/politics\/2024-03-12\/north-carolina-elections-board-republicans-governor-cooper\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">struck down<\/a> by a state court in March. <\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/north-carolina-elections-parties-president-board-e29fe2f166d2388ae5cc98cda46723ae#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Associated Press<\/a>, North Carolina election officials confirmed to the board that We The People and Justice for All Party of North Carolina \u201chad turned in more valid signatures than the 13,865 that were required\u201d by law to gain ballot access for the November election. Certification of these signatures would have allowed the parties to subsequently nominate Kennedy and West as their respective presidential candidates. <\/p>\n<p>In voting against the motion to certify, the board\u2019s Democrat majority \u201cagreed more examination was needed of the organization[s\u2019] operations, including how signatures were collected, how party volunteers presented the petition\u2019s goals to voters and what information was placed on petition lists.\u201d Democrat member Siobhan O\u2019Duffy Millen reportedly expressed concerns that We The People volunteers, as the AP described, \u201cmisrepresented Kennedy as an independent candidate, rather than someone who could be the party\u2019s nominee.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Running as an independent in the Tar Heel State would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncsbe.gov\/candidates\/petitions\/unaffiliated-candidate-petitions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">require<\/a> Kennedy to gather \u201cat least 83,188 qualifying signatures\u201d to appear on the November ballot, according to the outlet.<\/p>\n<p>The NCSBE Democrat majority\u2019s decision to temporarily deny We The People ballot access appears to be based on allegations in a lawsuit previously filed by Clear Choice Action, a pro-Biden super PAC. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/democrats-allies-sue-to-keep-rfk-jr-off-ballot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CBS News<\/a>, the PAC claimed We The People violated state election laws by \u201cmisleading signers into believing they were directly petitioning to place Kennedy on the ballot instead of creating a new political party that can subsequently hold a nominating convention.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The NCSBE is expected to reconsider Kennedy and West\u2019s parties\u2019 requests for 2024 ballot access on July 9. <\/p>\n<p>As noted by Federalist Editor-in-Chief Mollie Hemingway in her bestselling book, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Rigged-Media-Democrats-Seized-Elections\/dp\/168451259X\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Rigged: How the Media, Big Tech, and the Democrats Seized Our Elections<\/em><\/a>, the Democrat-controlled NCSBE took legally suspect actions that provided Democrats an edge in the 2020 election. The board, along with North Carolina Democrat Attorney General Josh Stein \u2014 who is now running for governor \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/speakermoore.com\/n-c-voters-lawmakers-file-federal-suit-stop-sue-settle-elections-scam-ag-stein-coopers-campaign-lawyer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">struck a deal<\/a> with a group represented by <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/marc-elias\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Russia collusion hoaxer Marc Elias<\/a> to unliterally change the state\u2019s election laws on mail-in balloting without the approval of the General Assembly. <\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/election-2020-samuel-alito-amy-coney-barrett-north-carolina-elections-4cb4c214446bcfadbd73dafca9353701\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AP<\/a>, the settlement allowed mail-in ballots to be received and counted in the Tar Heel State up to nine days after Election Day. The change was ultimately allowed to stand by the U.S. Supreme Court, with Chief Justice John Roberts and Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh joining the court\u2019s three Democrat appointees in permitting the deal to remain in place.<\/p>\n<p>Associate Justice Amy Coney Barrett did not rule on the case due to having just joined the court and a lack of time \u201cto fully review the parties\u2019 filings,\u201d according to a court spokeswoman. <\/p>\n<h2>Democrat Election Interference<\/h2>\n<p>If ultimately upheld, the NCSBE\u2019s move to keep Kennedy and West off the Tar Heel State\u2019s 2024 ballot would be a major win for President Joe Biden.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the past year, Democrats have sought to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-want-convicts-to-vote-but-no-ballot-access-for-non-convict-trump\/\" title=\"Democrats support voting rights for convicts, but deny ballot access to former President Trump\">deny ballot access<\/a> to third-party presidential candidates over fears their candidacies could derail Biden\u2019s reelection prospects. In addition to North Carolina, the Democratic National Committee and Biden-aligned entities have filed <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/15\/from-trump-to-kennedy-democrats-dont-want-to-let-anyone-on-the-ballot-but-their-own-candidates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">complaints<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/10\/08\/us\/politics\/biden-trump-third-parties-no-labels.html?smid=tw-share\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lawsuits<\/a> in various states throughout the country challenging Kennedy and other third-party candidates\u2019 ability to appear on the November ballot.<\/p>\n<p>The New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/10\/08\/us\/politics\/biden-trump-third-parties-no-labels.html?smid=tw-share\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">first reported<\/a> on Biden and Democrats\u2019 efforts against Kennedy and other third-party candidates in October.
