This move \u2064aims to \u200cmodify Trump\u2019s release conditions from his charges of keeping classified documents unlawly. However, Judge Aileen Cannon, appointed by Trump, expressed doubts about the direct link \u2063between Trump&#8217;s statements and the threats. In response,\u200c Smith provided further evidence to establish this \u200ccorrelation. Notably, Trump had claimed, using information from \u2064an FBI search warrant,\u200d that the \u2062government was authorized to\u200b use lethal force\u2064 against him, which he then \u200ccommunicated in fundraising emails. The debate continues as the court has yet to decide \u200bon imposing speech restrictions.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Special counsel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/jack-smith\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jack Smith<\/a> is continuing to push for a judge in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/florida\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Florida<\/a> to restrict former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Donald Trump\">Donald Trump<\/a>\u2018s speech, submitting to the court Wednesday night dozens of examples to support his request.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors for Smith filed numerous instances of threats Trump supporters made in the wake of the former president making critical statements about the investigation, as the government attempts to convince Judge Aileen Cannon to approve the speech restriction.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3061125\/trump-biden-duke-it-out-viral-ads\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TRUMP AND BIDEN DUKE IT OUT WITH VIRAL ADS AHEAD OF DEBATE<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cannon, a Trump appointee, appeared skeptical of the government\u2019s request at a hearing this week. She suggested there was a lack of evidence to support a direct correlation between Trump\u2019s remarks and threats that have been made to law enforcement officials.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere still needs to be a factual connection between A and B,\u201d Cannon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/3057590\/judge-cannon-scolds-trump-prosecutor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The judge allowed Smith to submit more evidence of the correlation, which he did Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Smith has asked Cannon to modify the conditions of Trump\u2019s release that the former president agreed to when he was arraigned on charges of unlawfully retaining classified documents last year so that the former president cannot make certain statements about law enforcement officials.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Court should exercise its authority to impose a condition that Trump may not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nations-largest-teachers-union-scrubs-website-of-pledge-to-teach-critical-race-theory\/\" title=\"Nation\u2019s Largest Teachers Union Scrubs Website Of Pledge To Teach Critical Race Theory\">make public statements<\/a> that pose a significant, imminent, and foreseeable danger to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jack-smith-asks-judge-to-stop-trump-from-making-claims-about-fbi-assassination-plot\/\" title=\"Jack Smith requests court intervention to prevent Trump from making allegations regarding FBI assassination conspiracy\">law enforcement agents participating<\/a> in the investigation and prosecution of this case,\u201d prosecutors wrote in the request.<\/p>\n<p>They said their request was prompted by Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, peddling a false narrative that his opponent, President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Joe Biden\">Joe Biden<\/a>, plotted to assassinate him. Trump based his claims on the revelation that a warrant the FBI used to search his Mar-a-Lago residence in 2022 contained policy information about the use of \u201clethal force.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3059842\/presidential-debate-bingo-card-play-along-trump-biden-face-off\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DEBATE BINGO CARD: PLAY ALONG AS TRUMP AND BIDEN FACE OFF<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Trump said in fundraising emails, for example, that the government \u201cWAS AUTHORIZED TO SHOOT ME,\u201d was \u201cjust itching to do the unthinkable,\u201d and was \u201clocked &#038; loaded ready to take me out &#038; put my family in danger.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When Trump first began making the claims, the FBI quickly put out a statement explaining that the language on the warrant was standard and did not deviate from the bureau\u2019s normal practices.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors called Trump\u2019s remarks \u201cdeceptive\u201d and said they \u201cirresponsibly put a target on the backs of the FBI agents involved in this case, as Trump well knows.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The examples they submitted Wednesday to prove their point were mostly threats made to Trump\u2019s targets prior to May, when Trump introduced the theory. One example occurred after that time frame, earlier this month, when a Texas man named Timothy Muller called the FBI\u2019s Baltimore office and warned he would assault and murder an agent there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe last thing you\u2019ll ever hear are the horrified shrieks of your widow and orphans,\u201d Muller said in a voicemail on June 11, the same day <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/hunter-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Hunter Biden\">Hunter Biden<\/a> was convicted in a gun case that the FBI\u2019s Baltimore office had been involved with. Muller claimed in the voicemail that the agent let the president\u2019s son off easy.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Trump, who opposes Smith\u2019s request, filed his own motion Wednesday night, asking Cannon to grant his defense team two extra weeks to respond to Smith\u2019s new batch of evidence.<\/p>\n<p>It is unclear when Cannon will issue orders on Smith\u2019s and Trump\u2019s requests, but if she were to side with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sidney-powell-is-an-american-legal-giant\/\" title=\"Sidney Powell Is an American Legal Giant\">special counsel<\/a> before Thursday night\u2019s presidential debate, her decision would likely affect how the former president would be able to address his case in Florida during the event.<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s attorneys have argued that Smith is attempting to interfere with the election by restricting the former president\u2019s \u201cconstitutionally protected campaign speech.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Special counsel Jack Smith is urging a Florida judge to limit former President Donald Trump&#8217;s speech, presenting numerous examples on Wednesday night.
