This was in line with Carville&#8217;s view that Bannon&#8217;s presence would significantly worsen the jail environment.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_79\">\n<p>James Carville, a Democratic strategist, threw shade at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/steve-bannon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Steve Bannon<\/a>, who is set to report to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/prison\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>prison<\/a> next week on two contempt charges.<\/p>\n<p>Carville <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/tv\/james-carville-says-steve-bannon-needs-a-cell-by-himself-because-hes-gonna-stink-that-jail-up-something-fierce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>appeared on Ari Melber\u2019s <em>The Beat<\/em><\/a>  on MSNBC to discuss the 2024 election and Bannon\u2019s prison time. The Democratic strategist had some choice words about the experience of anyone who would be incarcerated with the former Trump adviser.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe will be incarcerated under this federal calendar on Election Day,\u201d Melber said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, he\u2019s going to have four months to contemplate everything,\u201d Carville said. \u201cBut I think whoever his cellmate is can make a good Eighth Amendment case, if you remember that from law school. That\u2019s cruel and unusual punishment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bannon was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/3030686\/steve-bannon-ordered-to-surrender-prison-sentence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>sentenced to four months<\/a> in prison earlier this year. Bannon faced criminal charges just before President Donald Trump left office regarding funding the border wall but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2629528\/maga-mastermind-steve-bannon-gets-pardon-in-border-wall-funding-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>was pardoned by Trump<\/a> one day before President Joe Biden\u2019s inauguration. Bannon was later charged with contempt stemming from an order to testify to the Jan. 6 committee.<\/p>\n<p>The Eighth Amendment protects against excessive bail, excessive fines, and \u201ccruel and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/taxpayers-to-foot-bill-for-terrorists-sex-change\/\" title=\"Taxpayers To Foot Bill for Terrorist\u2019s Sex Change\">unusual punishments<\/a>,\u201d though the Constitution and the Founding Fathers have not defined what \u201ccruel and unusual punishments\u201d comprise.
