However, the legalities of \u200bwhether\u2063 the recall should proceed under new or old legislative district maps \u200cremain unresolved. Wisconsin&#8217;s\u200b recent\u200c redistricting, declared necessary by a \u2063Supreme Court decision against \u200dprevious gerrymandered maps, has introduced\u200b discrepancies in the signature count required for a\u200d recall under the new district boundaries. The Wisconsin Elections Commission is\u200d faced with \u200ddeciding the appropriate district for\u2063 the recall, as the state Supreme\u200d Court has\u2063 not provided \u200cguidance. Meanwhile, Vos contends \u200cthat the signature count falls short and raises concerns \u200cabout\u200d the timeline \u200dand authenticity of \u200cthe collected signatures. The controversy extends to Vos&#8217;s political actions, particularly his \u200dacknowledgment of the 2020 election results, \u200chis criticisms of Trump, and his refusal to \u200dleverage legislative\u2063 powers for \u2063certain political moves, sparking discontent among some \u200cconstituents.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>A group of pro-<a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Trump\">Trump<\/a> advocates filed enough valid signatures to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/wisconsin-recall\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>recall<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/wisconsin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Wisconsin<\/a> Assembly Leader Robin Vos, a Republican, but the fight isn\u2019t over.<\/p>\n<p>Legal questions remain unanswered about whether signatures to recall Vos should be gathered under Wisconsin\u2019s new legislative maps or the old district that voted him into office.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Wisconsin Elections Commission found the group filed enough valid signatures to trigger a recall of the Republican leader of Wisconsin\u2019s lower chamber. The same group tried to recall him earlier this year, but the majority of the signatures were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2929968\/wisconsin-assembly-speaker-calls-trump-supporters-whack-jobs-morons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>deemed invalid<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Still, there may be a discrepancy, as Wisconsin recently implemented new legislative maps following the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/wisconsin-supreme-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Wisconsin Supreme Court<\/a> declaring previous gerrymandered maps unconstitutional.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>WEC asked the Wisconsin Supreme Court to clarify whether the recall election should take place in the old district or the new district, but the court declined to offer clarity. The state\u2019s high court recommended that a bipartisan WEC panel decide if the recall will take place in the district Vos was elected to represent in 2022 or if it should be held in Vos\u2019s new district.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Vos was elected to represent the old 63rd Assembly District but now represents Wisconsin\u2019s 33rd Assembly District. The group would need 7,195 signatures to meet recall law in the new 33rd Assembly District, and what it submitted falls short by about 945 votes, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jsonline.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2024\/06\/25\/group-turns-in-enough-signatures-to-trigger-recall-of-robin-vos\/74207044007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><em>Milwaukee Journal Sentinel<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Vos still believes the group is short, as the group collected signatures outside of the allowed time frame.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also raised serious fraud allegations that were not refuted by the Recall Vos committee or addressed in the WEC staff report,\u201d Vos said. \u201cWe are confident they have not met the threshold for recall and will present our argument to the commission on Thursday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The group is unhappy with Vos for his refusal to deny election results in Wisconsin in 2020, his criticisms of former President Donald Trump, and his refusal to use legislative power to impeach WEC nonpartisan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/2965975\/wisconsin-election-administrator-given-extra-security-after-attacks-from-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>administrator Meagan Wolfe<\/a>. The group has also floated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpr.org\/news\/radio-ads-call-for-against-recalling-robin-vos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>conspiracies<\/a> that Vos is \u201cdeeply aligned with the CCP,\u201d claiming he has taken in money from the Chinese Communist Party.<\/p>\n<p>Vos hired, then later fired, former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman to investigate election results in Wisconsin. Gableman has emerged in the second round of signature gathering as a leader of the \u201cRecall Vos\u201d movement, alongside petitioner Matthew Snorek.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Snorek has said the first recall attempt was \u201csabotaged\u201d and \u201cinfiltrated by outsiders from New York and Florida.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Vos has called the group \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/2965975\/wisconsin-election-administrator-given-extra-security-after-attacks-from-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>whack jobs and morons<\/a>\u201d for its inability to gather enough valid signatures, as well as finding 400 duplicated signatures, missing and misspelled information, and his own name signed on the recall.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If WEC determines a recall is <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/wisconsin-assembly-speaker-vos-recall-453e561954bed9aad5b78e51c4027e4a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>valid<\/a>, it will be held on Aug. 6, but if more than two candidates run, the primary will be held on Aug. 6, and a recall election will be held on Sept. 3.<\/p>\n<p>Vos has been a member of the Wisconsin Assembly since 2005 and has been speaker of the Assembly since 2013, making him the longest-serving speaker in Wisconsin Assembly history.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pro-Trump advocates successfully filed sufficient signatures to initiate a recall of Wisconsin Assembly Leader Robin Vos.
