The image, originally published in an April 2022 RTBF article, shows the Xelo oil tanker, which sank off the coast of southeastern Tunisia.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Houthi rebels struck the Greek-owned Tutor ship with \u201cmissiles and an explosive-laden remote-controlled boat\u201d on June 12, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/middle-east\/salvage-firm-confirms-sinking-greek-owned-tutor-struck-by-houthis-2024-06-19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reuters<\/a>. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) believes the Tutor is the second ship sunk by the Houthis \u201csince November,\u201d the outlet reported.<\/p>\n<p>The X image, viewed over 4,000 times as of writing, purports to show the Tutor ship that was recently attacked by Yemen\u2019s Houthi rebels sinking in the Red Sea. \u201cPhoto of the TUTOR ship sinking to the bottom of the Red Sea after violating Yemen\u2019s ban on all shipping companies aiding the genocide in Gaza,\u201d the image\u2019s caption reads. The image shows a red and blue ship with the name, \u201cTUTOR\u201d visibly sinking into the water.<\/p>\n<p>The claim is false, however. The image, originally published in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rtbf.be\/article\/tunisie-des-plongeurs-partis-inspecter-le-petrolier-naufrage-devant-gabes-10976301\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">April 2022 RTBF article<\/a>, shows the Xelo oil tanker, which sank off the coast of southeastern Tunisia. It is unknown why the tanker, which was carrying 750 tons of diesel, sank at the time, the outlet reported.
