The campaign issued\u200d a cease-and-desist letter to the PAC and hinted at seeking a criminal\u200b investigation, stating that the ad falsely claims Trump is against mail-in voting. The campaign argues that \u200dthis representation could\u200c be considered a \u200bcriminal and civil conspiracy to harm Trump\u2064 supporters&#8217; voting rights.<\/p>\n<p>The ad under scrutiny cites old clips of Trump criticizing mail-in voting, paired with dramatic imagery and music, attempting to dissuade\u2062 voter participation. The campaign counters this by highlighting Trump&#8217;s current stance, which encourages all legal voting methods, including \u200bmail-in voting. This clash \u2064occurs amidst broader discussions and accusations from various\u2063 fronts \u2064about misinformation and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/after-election-day-pummeling-democrats-will-play-the-race-card-hard\/\" title=\"After Election Day Pummeling, Democrats Will Play The Race Card \u2014 Hard\">voter suppression leading<\/a>\u200b up to the\u200c upcoming election \u200drematch between Joe Biden and Donald Trump.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Former President Donald Trump\u2019s campaign is firing back at a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-sue-to-try-to-disqualify-3-gop-congressmen-from-2022-ballot\/\" title=\"Democrats Sue to Try to Disqualify 3 GOP Congressmen From 2022 Ballot\">left-wing political action committee<\/a>, demanding <a href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/cgi-bin\/forms\/C00631903\/1648969\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pennsylvania Values<\/a> take off the air its misleading <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/lpdonovan\/status\/1804879330008248619?s=42\">ad <\/a>urging Trump voters not to participate in mail-in voting. <\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, the campaign sent a cease-and-desist <a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.nucleusfiles.com\/f8\/f84e409a-6e48-455a-8673-264f428dadb4\/20240625_pa-values.pdf?utm_medium=email&#038;utm_source=ncl_amplify&#038;utm_campaign=240625-trump_campaign_cites_possible_criminal_election_interference_by_biden_aligned_pennsylvania_values_pac_demands_immediate_end_to_this_false_advertising&#038;utm_content=ncl-tuEGBqc7mT&#038;_nlid=tuEGBqc7mT&#038;_nhids=o3opfjeW\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">letter <\/a>to the super PAC and said it plans to seek a criminal investigation into the group and the digital ad. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are aware of your advertisement falsely claiming that President Trump has asked Pennsylvania voters not to vote by mail. This advertisement may constitute both a criminal and civil conspiracy to injure the rights of President Trump\u2019s supporters to cast their ballots in Pennsylvania,\u201d the GOP presidential candidate\u2019s campaign warned in the letter to <a href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/cgi-bin\/forms\/C00631903\/1648969\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Maria L. Galdo<\/a>, Pennsylvania Values\u2019 listed treasurer. \u201cCease and desist broadcasting, or otherwise distributing via the internet or elsewhere, this false advertisement immediately and preserve all relevant documents in anticipation of likely litigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>KKK Tactics? <\/h2>\n<p>The letter cites what is known as the <a href=\"https:\/\/constitutioncenter.org\/the-constitution\/historic-document-library\/detail\/ku-klux-klan-act-of-1871-april-20-1871-an-act-to-enforce-the-provisions-of-the-fourteenth-amendment-to-the-constitution-of-the-united-states-and-for-other-purposes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ku Klux Klan Act,<\/a> an 1871 law targeting those associated with the KKK \u2014 mostly Democrats \u2014 from attempting to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/joy-reid-rick-wilson-laugh-at-dumb-ass-red-state-americans\/\" title=\"Joy Reid, Rick Wilson Laugh At \u2018Dumb Ass\u2019 Red State Americans\">intimidate black voters<\/a>, who mainly voted for Republicans post-Civil War. As the campaign notes, the act creates a cause of action against those who conspire \u201cto prevent by force, intimidation, or threat, any citizen who is lawfully entitled to vote, from giving his support or advocacy in a legal manner, toward or in favor of the election of any lawfully qualified person as an elector for President or Vice President, or as a Member of Congress of the United States.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>As The Federalist first <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/06\/24\/election-interference-leftist-pacs-ad-uses-deceitful-trump-clips-to-suppress-republican-votes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> on Monday, the ad uses old clips from Trump talking about how corrupt mail-in voting is \u2014 a statement grounded in a fair amount of truth but a message that Trump and the GOP have moved past as they urge Republicans to vote early in November\u2019s rematch of the 2020 presidential election. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMAGA Patriots Listen To Our President!\u201d the ad begins, with a black and white photo of Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMail-in voting is totally corrupt. Get that through your head!\u201d says Trump in a video clip punctuated by dramatic music. <\/p>\n<p>Conservative organizations working get-out-the-vote efforts in the battleground state of Pennsylvania and elsewhere say the ad is the kind of \u201cdisinformation\u201d campaign that the left, the deep state, and Big Tech have railed against \u2014 and shut down. <\/p>\n<h2>\u2018Stop at Nothing\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Corporate media outlets, perhaps not surprisingly, mocked the GOP response, sneering that the ad is merely using Trump\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2024-election\/trump-threatens-lawsuit-democratic-ad-mail-voting-rcna158919\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">own words to discourage mail voting<\/a>.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrump campaign accuses Democratic group of \u2018election interference\u2019 \u2014 for quoting Trump,\u201d the Philadelphia Inquirer\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/politics\/election\/pennsylvania-super-pac-mail-ballot-ad-20240625.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">headline<\/a> declared. The publication also noted that the ad \u201cis framed to viewers as coming from Trump.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>As I reported on Monday, anti-Trumpers may correctly say the former president said what he said. Trump saw the unprecedented use of mail-in ballots and countless irregularities and suspicious activities surrounding them as a big part of a rig job by Democrats and their allies in 2020. <\/p>\n<p>But as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/06\/04\/politics\/trump-mail-in-early-voting\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">corporate media outlets<\/a> have taken great pains to widely report, Trump and other Republicans have \u201cchanged their tune\u201d on early voting, a point the Trump campaign stressed in their warning letter. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBiden and his allies will stop at nothing to interfere with this election because Crooked Joe is losing nationally and in battleground states like Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania Values PAC is peddling lies to prevent voters exercising their right to vote,\u201d said Brian Hughes, senior adviser to the Trump campaign, in a press release. \u201cPresident Trump has been clear that his supporters should use all legal methods to cast a ballot this election. To say otherwise in advertising, as this false TV commercial does, represents an intentional effort to mislead Pennsylvania voters, suppress Trump supporters, and disrupt a fair election this Fall.\u201d <\/p>\n<h2>\u2018Psychological Warfare\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>The ad is a sleazy twist on what voters can expect from the left in the four-plus months leading up to the Election Day rematch of Democrat incumbent President Joe Biden and the Republican who preceded him in office. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lpdonovan.com\/category\/media\/podcasts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Liam Donovan<\/a>, a frequent commentator and writer on national politics, posted on his X account that the misleading PAC ad is the \u201cfirst time\u201d he\u2019s \u201cseen this tactic.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cPennsylvania Values is a super pac funded almost entirely by the building trades that was most active in 2018 the last time [Pennsylvania Democrat Sen. Bob] Casey was up, spending $1.1M against [Republican challenger Lou] Barletta. Spent another $285k in 2020 against Trump,\u201d Donovan wrote. <\/p>\n<p>It is interesting that a super PAC that is part of a left-wing movement constantly accusing Republicans of \u201cvoter suppression\u201d is running an ad encouraging Republicans not to use a particular means of voting. <\/p>\n<p>Jessica Anderson, president of <a href=\"https:\/\/sentinelactionfund.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sentinel Action Fund<\/a>, one of three conservative groups that earlier this year launched an <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/04\/30\/conservative-groups-see-fruits-of-pennsylvania-vote-by-mail-campaign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">eight-figure get-out-the-vote<\/a> campaign in Pennsylvania and elsewhere, said Republicans are awake and will not allow this \u201cpsychological warfare to stand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is only the beginning of the dirty tricks we\u2019re going to see from the Left this election cycle,\u201d Anderson told The Federalist. \u201cPresident Trump and Republicans are right to use every legal tool and avenue they have to fight this blatant election interference in Pennsylvania.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo help Trump in these efforts, voters must do their parts to stay engaged early, show up during the early voting process, and show the Left that 2024 will truly be \u2018too big to rig.\u2019 This is our opportunity to show Joe Biden, Bob Casey, and PA Democrats that their pathetic voter suppression efforts won\u2019t work and PA voters are ready for new leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Matt Kittle is a senior elections correspondent for The Federalist.
