AOC secured \u200b82.5% of the votes with 20% of precincts reporting,\u2064 almost ensuring her reelection in November. Dolan, a 66-year-old investment banker who criticized AOC&#8217;s stance on a failed Amazon headquarters deal\u2062 in New York, garnered\u200b 17.1% of\u200b the votes. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY)<\/a> easily defeated a centrist Democrat running for her House seat in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/new-york\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"New York\">New York<\/a>\u2019s 14th Congressional District, all but guaranteeing her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/2024-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"election\">reelection<\/a> in November.<\/p>\n<p>Ocasio-Cortez, an icon of the Left now in her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pay-killers-to-bring-down-homicide-rate-baltimore-activist-says\/\" title=\"Pay Killers To Bring Down Homicide Rate, Baltimore Activist Says\">sixth year<\/a> in Congress, received 82.5% of the vote with 20% of the ballots counted when the primary was called at 9:05 p.m. Eastern, according to the <em>Associated Press. <\/em>Meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.martydolanforcongress.com\/\">Martin Dolan<\/a> received 17.1% of the vote. <\/p>\n<p>Dolan, a 66-year-old investment banker, mounted a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-to-vote-on-d-c-statehood-bill\/\" title=\"House to vote on D.C. statehood bill\">long-shot bid<\/a> against the congresswoman, also known as AOC, in the district that includes part of the Bronx and Queens. He repeatedly blasted her opposition to Amazon\u2019s 2018 plans to build a headquarters in New York City, a deal that fell apart after criticism over the $3 billion in tax credits from the city and state planned across 10 years.<\/p>\n<p>A conservative business advocacy group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/congressional\/3052293\/conservative-group-aoc-new-billboards-times-square-primary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>recently got involved<\/a> in the primary, spending $100,000 on billboards criticizing the congresswoman and propping up Dolan ahead of the primary.<\/p>\n<p>Even before the results came in, Ocasio-Cortez framed her expected win as a victory for the people of her district.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<div>\n<blockquote data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<div lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>The cynics will tell you that one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-house-administration-republicans-demand-answers-from-fulton-county-over-allegedly-shredded-ballot-applications\/\" title=\"EXCLUSIVE: House Administration Republicans Demand Answers From Fulton County Over Allegedly Shredded Ballot Applications\">vote won\u2019<\/a>t change anything.<\/p>\n<p>But what they don\u2019t tell you is that nothing can change without a vote.<\/p>\n<p>The truth is, the world doesn\u2019t belong to the cynics.
