Brady calls raising corporate taxes a \u2018major mistake\u2019\">proposed tax hikes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Police reportedly opened fire on the protesters with several bodies being seen\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Lj1aVFLKLA\">pic.twitter.com\/Lj1aVFLKLA<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Collin Rugg (@CollinRugg) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CollinRugg\/status\/1805640495064138219?\">June 25, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Obama struggled to speak during the interview as the effects of the tear gas had just started to exacerbate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t believe that these young people are just trying to demonstrate for their rights\u2026 and they\u2019re being tear gassed, we\u2019re being tear gassed,\u201d Obama told Madowo, while choking and coughing.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Have you been following this story?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>She added: \u201cWe have flags and banners, nothing else.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Obama went on to voice her issue with the newly proposed taxation bill.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor me, the most important thing is that\u2026 they\u2019re touching our ancestral land, our ancestral land where we bury our people,\u201d Obama said.<\/p>\n<p>Obama lamented: \u201cHow can you tax us on land that belonged to us forever?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Following the interview, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-explains-agreeing-debate-hosted-cnn-strategic-move-part\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a>\u2018s Madowo is shown fleeing the scene as additional tear gas begins floating his way.<\/p>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Chaos in Kenya as protesters storm parliament\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3vAXvA5tN3o?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen   style=\"display:none\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Yelling, explosions and other chaotic sounds can be heard in the background.<\/p>\n<p>The protests escalated on Tuesday, as did the resulting violence.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/kenya-protests-finance-bill-33a20092285f1d663264f7b0d513e1da\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Associated Press<\/a>, thousands of protesters stormed Kenya\u2019s parliament building.<\/p>\n<p>Legislators who voted in favor of the bill fled the building via a tunnel, while those who had opposed it walked out without fear of retaliation, as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/international\/4738553-obama-sister-tear-gassed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hill<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities opened fire on the demonstrators and at least eight are reported dead, the AP reported.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, a rampant fire burned a portion of the parliament building.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-chicago-shooting-kills-7-year-old-girl-wounds-7-people-including-small-children-police-say\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">violence<\/a> spread to other cities as well.<\/p>\n<p>The Associated Press described the scene as \u201cthe most direct assault on the government in decades.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>\u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d Those 12 words have been stuck in my head since I first read them. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Former Lt.
