Wade. The timing also aligns with the first\u200c presidential debate\u200c of the 2024 election\u200b cycle and just before the\u200b Court is set to release its most consequential opinions for the term.<\/p>\n<p>Stand Up America is leveraging support from celebrities like Andy Cohen and Barbara Streisand \u200dto enhance their campaign,\u200b which \u200bincludes \u2063a\u200d dedicated \u2063website offering information about the Supreme Court, voter registration verification, and various engagement \u200copportunities. Christina Harvey, the group&#8217;s executive director, emphasized the critical \u200cimpact of the upcoming election \u2062on the Supreme Court&#8217;s\u2064 future composition and its decisions on key issues \u2064like abortion access, gun \u2064safety, and\u200c voting rights.<\/p>\n<p>Established in 2016 by Sean Eldridge,\u2064 Stand\u200d Up America has been active in\u2062 opposing former\u2064 President Donald Trump \u200dand his policies. The organization expanded its advocacy efforts during the 2020 presidential \u200belection with the formation of Protect the Results, adding over 80\u200b organizations to its coalition, aiming to counter Trump&#8217;s voter\u200b fraud\u200d claims. The\u200d campaign also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/southern-baptist-convention-passes-anti-ivf-resolution-after-emotional-debate\/\" title=\"Southern Baptist Convention Adopts Anti-IVF Measure Following Heated Discussion\">highlights \u200cethical\u200b concerns<\/a> regarding Republican-appointed Supreme Court justices, with Democratic Senators pushing for a binding code of conduct for the justices.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>A left-leaning group announced this week the start of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/consumers-research-slams-blackrocks-close-ties-to-the-chinese-communist-party\/\" title=\"Consumers\u2019 Research Slams BlackRock\u2019s Close Ties to the Chinese Communist Party\">million-dollar campaign<\/a> to attack the legitimacy of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/supreme-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Supreme Court<\/a> as the 2024 presidential race between President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Joe Biden<\/a> and former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Donald Trump<\/a> heats up.<\/p>\n<p>Stand Up America, a group funded primarily by Democratic political action committees, began its campaign on June 24, the same day of the two-year anniversary of the Supreme Court\u2019s decision to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/healthcare\/3055402\/anti-abortion-movement-takes-stock-anniversary-dobbs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">overturn <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/a>  and give states broad authority to set gestational limits on abortion procedures. The campaign also comes just days before the first presidential debate of the 2024 cycle, which is sandwiched between the three remaining days where the high court is poised to release its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3014209\/most-anticipated-supreme-court-decisions-remaining-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"most consequential opinions\">most consequential opinions<\/a> of the 2023-24 term.<\/p>\n<figure><figcaption>Protesters target Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito in Washington, D.C., June 24, 2023. (Alejandro Alvarez \/ Sipa USA \/ Newscom)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Stand Up America is enlisting the help of celebrities, including TV host Andy Cohen, actress Barbara Streisand, and other influencers, in addition to creating a website that will be \u201cproviding essential information about the Court, a pledge to be a Supreme Court voter, voter registration verification, and volunteer opportunities,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/standupamerica.com\/2024\/06\/stand-up-america-launches-seven-figure-gotv-campaign-focused-on-the-supreme-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>according<\/a> to a press release.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Trump wins, he could ensure MAGA control of the court for decades to come, which would have a huge impact on upcoming cases impacting abortion access, gun safety, voting rights, and our other fundamental freedoms. We can\u2019t let that happen,\u201d said Christina Harvey, executive director of the advocacy group.<\/p>\n<p>Although the million-dollar campaign to target the Supreme Court appears to be Stand Up America\u2019s first major foray into activism against the court, the group has been a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/stand-up-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>consistent combatant<\/a> against Trump and his policies since its founding in 2016 by Sean Eldridge, a failed Democratic candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives and the spouse of Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes.<\/p>\n<p>In September 2020, the group announced that its side project, Protect the Results, added more than 80 organizations to its coalition, which sought to galvanize protests against Trump\u2019s claims that widespread voter fraud led to his loss of the 2020 presidential election. That same year, top donors to Stand Up America included an array of major Democratic political action committees, including $35,500 given by the Democratic National Committee, $35,500 donated by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, and $25,239 from ActBlue, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/orgs\/stand-up-america-pac\/recipients?candscycle=2024&#038;id=D000071230&#038;toprecipscycle=2020\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according<\/a> to OpenSecrets.<\/p>\n<p>The campaign also comes at a time when several Republican-appointed members of the high court, including Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas, have been accused by Democratic lawmakers of abrogating ethical responsibilities despite a lack of evidence that either of the justices\u2019 decisions were influenced by outside parties.<\/p>\n<p>Sens. Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) have repeatedly called on Congress to pass legislation that would enforce a \u201cbinding\u201d code of conduct with enforcement mechanisms to force justices to recuse over appearances of conflicts in light of reports by the nonprofit outlet ProPublica dating back to April 2023. Although the justices already consult lower court guidance over ethical standards, the high court adopted its own ethics code last year, which bolstered guidance to report gifts the justices receive from friends and third parties.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, left-wing activist Lauren Windsor attended the Supreme Court Historical Society dinner and secretly recorded her conversation with Chief Justice John Roberts, Alito, and Alito\u2019s wife, Martha-Ann Alito. <\/p>\n<p>Posing as a conservative Christian, Windsor acted sympathetic toward Martha-Ann Alito regarding her family\u2019s media exposure over the flying of an \u201cAppeal to Heaven\u201d flag and an upside-down American flag outside of the couple\u2019s two places of residence. The upside-down American flag was perceived by some critics on the Left as a statement of support for Jan. 6 rioters who questioned the legitimacy of the 2020 presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>Windsor, who shared the audio recordings on X, where she states that she is a \u201cjournalist,\u201d also shared a link on social media for people to donate through ActBlue, a major Democratic funding arm.<\/p>\n<p>\u200b\u200b<a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Carrie Severino, president of the conservative judicial activist group JCN and a former clerk to Thomas, said the latest actions depict an attempt to \u201cpeddle these lies about the justices in an effort to use that as this campaign wedge issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have to be prepared for a lot of misinformation about what the court is actually doing,\u201d Severino said, noting activists have \u201cresorted to really dishonest ways of attempting to make the court an issue, whether it\u2019s this ethics stuff, \u2018flag gate,\u2019 all of those crazy, jerry-rigged kinds of attempts to pretend the justices are somehow corrupt, which is ludicrous.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week, Stand Up America, primarily funded by Democratic PACs, launched a million-dollar campaign targeting the Supreme Court&#8217;s legitimacy amid the intensifying 2024 presidential race between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.
