It cites internal emails, one of which shows a CIA employee expressing concern about the political implications of the letter and its potential long-term detriment to the agency. Another email response highlighted that some of the letter\u2019s 51 signatories were indeed currently affiliated\u200b with the CIA.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Former intelligence officials who wrote a controversial public letter casting doubt on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/hunter-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Hunter Biden\">Hunter Biden<\/a>\u2019s laptop data ahead of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/2020-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>2020<\/a> presidential election included active contractors working for the CIA, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/document\/745334914\/Report-on-51-intel-officials?secret_password=jgDmr4c2NZQ0qx3auv0m\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>report<\/a> published Tuesday reveals.<\/p>\n<p>The report, released by two Republican-led <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/house-of-representatives\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>House<\/a> committees, provides the most direct link yet between the government\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-live-intelligence-officials-testify-on-global-threats-before-senate-committee\/\" title=\"LIVE: Intel officials testify on global threats before Senate committee\">premier intelligence agency<\/a> and the infamous statement. It also shows several internal emails about the letter, which include two CIA employees expressing reluctance about the political nature of the statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis frustrates me. I don\u2019t think it is helpful to the Agency in the long run. Sigh,\u201d one CIA employee, whose name is redacted, wrote to a colleague on Oct. 20, 2020, about the statement, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>The colleague, whose name is also redacted, responded minutes later, saying that some of the 51 signers were actively working for the CIA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI also love that at least a few of the random signatures belong to individuals currently working here on contracts\u2026,\u201d the colleague wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The House Judiciary and Intelligence committees, which compiled the report, wrote that they asked the CIA to identify the contractors who wrote the statement, and that the agency provided names of two of them: former CIA acting Director Michael Morell and former CIA Inspector General David Buckley. Morell was also the lead organizer of the statement, according to emails and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fact-check-did-cnn-report-justin-trudeau-was-mentioned-in-testimony-during-the-ghislaine-maxwell-trial\/\" title=\"FACT CHECK: Did CNN Report Justin Trudeau Was Mentioned In Testimony During The Ghislaine Maxwell Trial?\">testimony included<\/a> in the committees\u2019 report.<\/p>\n<p>Despite providing those two names, the CIA has not declassified a \u201ccomplete list of individuals\u201d who were on contract on Oct. 19, 2020, the day the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2020\/10\/19\/hunter-biden-story-russian-disinfo-430276\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>statement<\/a> was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/warp-speed-advisor-expects-vaccine-to-ship-mid-december-herd-immunity-by-may\/\" title=\"\u2018Warp Speed\u2019 advisor expects vaccine to ship mid-December, \u2018herd immunity\u2019 by May\">made public<\/a> in <em>Politico<\/em>, because of \u201cpurported operational security,\u201d the committees wrote. <\/p>\n<p>The 51 officials who wrote and signed the statement included intelligence community heavyweights such as Morell, former CIA Directors John Brennan and Leon Panetta, and former Director of National Intelligence Jim Clapper.<\/p>\n<p>They wrote days after the <em>New York Post<\/em> published a story containing a damning narrative about the Biden family that the \u201carrival on the US political scene\u201d of the information in the story \u201chad all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.\u201d The <em>New York Post<\/em> story was based on data from Hunter Biden\u2019s abandoned laptop.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The remark, coming from officials who once worked at the highest and most classified levels of government, carried significant weight at the time, and many, including then-candidate Joe Biden, relied on the statement to dismiss the <em>New York Post\u2019s<\/em> story as a Russian attempt at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-live-facebook-and-twitter-ceos-testify-before-senate-judiciary-committee\/\" title=\"Watch Live: Facebook and Twitter CEOs Testify Before Senate Judiciary Committee\">election interference<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> reached out to the CIA for comment.<\/p>\n<p><em>This story is developing.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A report released Tuesday by two Republican-led House committees reveals that former intelligence officials, including active CIA contractors, who doubted Hunter Biden&#8217;s laptop data before the 2020 election, have direct links to the CIA.
