Created by tech entrepreneurs in 2018 who noticed a lack of diverse perspectives in\u200c existing search\u2064 engines, Luxxle allows users to filter search\u200d results based on political leanings through a feature called &#8216;lenses.&#8217; According to Luxxle spokeswoman Molly Koweek, this \u2064approach ensures an even distribution of ideological perspectives, contrasting with the left-leaning results typically seen on other platforms. The main hurdle \u2063for Luxxle is gaining recognition in a market where major brands like Google are deeply entrenched in consumer habits. Koweek emphasized the need for increased media attention and user acquisition to overcome this challenge, believing that once people\u200c try \u2064Luxxle, they recognize its\u2062 value and do \u200bnot revert to other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sen-amy-klobuchar-introduces-big-tech-antitrust-bill-proposal\/\" title=\"Sen. Luxxle also facilitates identification of source bias using various tools, including self-identification by sources and third-party assessments. This element of transparency\u200d and choice, according to Koweek, sets Luxxle apart in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/google-ceo-testifies-that-chrome-not-monopoly-is-behind-search-dominance\/\" title=\"Google CEO testifies: Chrome, not monopoly, drives search dominance.\">search\u2062 engine market<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Rising <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/internet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>search engine<\/a> platform Luxxle is competing against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/google\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Google<\/a> by offering users a new way to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/internet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>navigate<\/a> the internet and letting them use lenses to filter searches by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/politics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>political<\/a> leaning.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt takes an entirely different approach than any of the other search engines out there,\u201d Luxxle spokeswoman Molly Koweek told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>. \u201cOur approach is one that you won\u2019t see with any other search engine. We offer far better results, unbiased results, superior privacy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just a much more enhanced experience and one that really puts the users in control,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Luxxle began in 2018 when tech entrepreneurs noticed a lack of perspective in traditional search engines, according to Koweek.<\/p>\n<p>The engine launched in 2022, and the biggest challenge when competing with platforms like Google is name recognition, she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReally just getting our name out there. When people think of the big search engines, they\u2019ll use it as a verb. They\u2019ll say, \u2018I have to Google this,&#8217;\u201d Koweek said. \u201cIt\u2019s so ingrained in people\u2019s minds that they think of that as the only option.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Overcoming that obstacle requires a constant push for media attention and user growth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a need for a search engine that is unbiased, that doesn\u2019t censor content, and as soon as people learn about us, they don\u2019t go back,\u201d Koweek said.<\/p>\n<p>When searching \u201ctrump verdict\u201d on Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo, the \u201ctop news spots\u201d presented to searchers were all left-leaning, according to a study conducted by Luxxle and shared with the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn Luxxle, 50% of the top 14 news spots are lean left and 50% are lean right,\u201d the study read. \u201cThen, with the lenses filters, you can decide if you just want to see content that leans left or leans right.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p>Determining whether a source is right-leaning or left-leaning is the product of various measurement tools, according to Koweek.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOften, the sources will self-identify,\u201d she said. \u201cThey\u2019ll say, \u2018Hey, we are a conservative publication.\u2019 They\u2019ll say, \u2018Hey, we\u2019re a liberal publication.\u2019 So that makes it very easy. Other than that, we have a couple of different third-party providers we use to kind of check and see how they\u2019re ranking these sources in terms of right and left.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sorting by a political lens is just one option provided to users by the platform.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s nothing else like lenses in search,\u201d Koweek said. \u201cLet\u2019s say you\u2019re searching for something highly newsworthy, whether it be Biden, whether it be Trump, whether it be something happening in Congress \u2026 right at the top of your search, you\u2019re going to see a box that says \u2018lenses.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019ll have the option to only view sources through the left lens. That means you can only see sources that lean left. You can decide to only see sources through the right lens, which means only sources that lean right. Or, you don\u2019t have to do that,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Further sorting tools include those focused on overall algorithm, freshness, and alphabetic order.<\/p>\n<p>Traditional search engines have long been accused of presenting the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/twitter-appears-to-shadow-ban-daily-wire-star-gina-carano\/\" title=\"Twitter Appears To \u2018Shadow Ban\u2019 Daily Wire Star Gina Carano\">search results<\/a> they want users to see and collecting personal data to use for profit. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do not track our users. We do not sell their data,\u201d according to Koweek. \u201cThat is something we are extremely firm on. In fact, we encourage to take their privacy just as seriously because Luxxle can take your privacy seriously, but we also encourage people to use a privacy-conscience browser and a VPN to have that added layer of security.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 2024 election cycle provides a great opportunity for users to profit from an unbiased search engine and allow Luxxle to build its brand, Koweek said. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn an election year, people need information. They need to know about the issues,\u201d she said. \u201cThey need to know about the candidates, and they need to be able to trust that their search engine isn\u2019t censoring them from that information.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaybe your ideas might align with the big search engines. So, the sources that you\u2019re seeing are in line with your general beliefs, but you can\u2019t trust that you\u2019re getting the full perspective. You\u2019re only trusting that you\u2019re getting the sources that are in line with your beliefs.
