The Western \u2062Journal&#8217;s commentary emphasizes\u2062 these dynamics, highlighting the adversarial relationship between Trump and media outlets like CNN, who hosts the debate.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/commentary\/\">  Commentary <\/a>  <\/p>\n<h2>Trump Gets Great News Out of Georgia Just 2 Days Before Atlanta Debate<\/h2>\n<p> <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/jsaunders\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/jsaunders\/%20\"><span>Joe Saunders<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   June 25, 2024 at 12:35pm <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>Heading into Thursday\u2019s presidential debate in\u00a0Atlanta, President Joe Biden might be the incumbent, but former President Donald Trump is carrying\u00a0momentum.<\/p>\n<p>A poll released Tuesday by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ajc.com\/politics\/ajc-poll-trump-leads-biden-in-georgia-ahead-of-first-debate\/2INZ7K3PNFCGNHF7N5SFP2HF4A\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Atlanta Journal-Constitution<\/a> found the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pres-trump-is-the-de-facto-republican-nominee-and-everyone-knows-it\/\" title=\"Trump is the undisputed Republican nominee, widely acknowledged.\">45th president holding<\/a> a 5-point lead over his successor in the Peach State.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s no small feat, considering a Georgia prosecutor is trying to put Trump in jail.<\/p>\n<p>Besides being the state capital, Atlanta is the county seat of Fulton County, the domain of District Attorney Fani Willis and one of the major fronts in Democrats\u2019 ongoing lawfare campaign against Trump.<\/p>\n<p>As the backdrop of Willis\u2019 national headline-generating efforts to prosecute Trump and other defendants on supposedly corrupt efforts to influence the outcome of the 2020 election, the battleground state of Georgia might be expected to be hostile territory for Trump.<\/p>\n<p>But the AJC found that Trump leads Biden 43 percent to 38 percent among likely voters \u2014 outside the poll\u2019s margin of error of 3.1 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Independent contender Robert F. Kenney Jr. \u2014 who is not being allowed to participate in Thursday\u2019s faceoff \u2014 had 9 percent, the AJC reported.<\/p>\n<p>And all of that is great news for Trump and his supporters.<\/p>\n<p>Not only does it signal momentum for Trump in a state he lost in 2020 by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/election\/2020\/results\/state\/georgia\/president\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">only 11,000 votes<\/a>, it\u2019s a sign that the efforts by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/they-leak-they-lie-trump-says-opponents-are-committing-prosecutorial-misconduct-at-levels-rarely-seen-before\/\" title=\"\u2018They Leak, They Lie\u2019: Trump Says Opponents Are Committing \u2018Prosecutorial Misconduct\u2019 At \u2018Levels Rarely Seen Before\u2019\">politically motivated prosecutors<\/a> such as Willis, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, and special counsel Jack Smith at the federal level are having a muted effect among voters.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Will Trump win Georgia in November?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Few candidates are popular enough to have a grand jury indictment hanging over their heads and still remain credible, but that\u2019s exactly what Trump is doing in Georgia, according to the poll.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s momentum Trump can carry into the Atlanta studios of CNN, the network hosting the debate. (Considering the antagonistic relationship between Trump, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cnn-ratings-hit-rock-bottom-anti-trump-network-exposed-real-loser-2020-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the network<\/a> as a whole and its two debate moderators in particular \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cnn-pulls-trump-spokeswoman-air-telling-truth-debate-moderator-jake-tapper\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jake Tapper and Dana Bash<\/a> \u2014 it\u2019s momentum he might need.)<\/p>\n<p>The poll could well be an important sign for the presidential campaign outside of Georgia state lines.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats had no doubt hoped the relentless drumbeat of legal prosecution would tarnish Trump in the eyes of voters. But the efforts are so transparently political that they could well be backfiring. Even Trump\u2019s most emphatic supporters would have trouble describing the larger-than-life billionaire businessman with a bellicose air as a sympathetic figure.<\/p>\n<p>Admirable? Charismatic? Decisive? Yes.<\/p>\n<p>Sympathetic? Not so much.<\/p>\n<p>But that\u2019s exactly how the hounding of Democratic prosecutors, warping the rule of law in their yelping pursuit of power, have made Trump appear.<\/p>\n<p>It also isn\u2019t helping Democrats that Willis\u2019 case has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/georgia-appeals-court-gives-trump-great-news-fight-fani-willis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">put on hold<\/a>, pending an appeals court review of a prosecution tainted by tawdry tales of an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-legal-team-unleashes-phone-records-cast-major-doubt-fani-willis-nathan-wades-story\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">illicit lover affair<\/a> that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/conservatives-mock-historic-meltdown-da-fani-willis-hearing-deciding-removal-trump-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bilked Fulton County taxpayers<\/a> at the same time as it targeted Trump. (It\u2019s a good bet that\u2019s a turnoff to Georgia voters.)<\/p>\n<p>In Smith\u2019s ongoing cases against Trump, he\u2019s facing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/prosecutors-targeting-trump-get-slammed-judge-apologize-tense-exchange-dont-appreciate-tone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">no-nonsense federal judge<\/a>,\u00a0U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon in Florida who, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-judge-blasts-jack-smith-calls-concerning-behavior\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Review\u2019s Andrew McCarthy<\/a> noted Monday, could be on the verge of ruling Smith\u2019s appointment as unconstitutional.<\/p>\n<p>One poll does not an election make, of course. But Trump has been doing well enough, in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/new-york-shows-biden-scary-numbers-trump-surges-2024-election-polls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">enough of them<\/a>, that it\u2019s pointing to the fact that prosecutors pimping the rule of law for political power are not impressing Americans.<\/p>\n<p>But it\u2019s one more reason for voters to be watching the Atlanta debate.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>An Important Message from Our Staff:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>In just a few months, the world is going to change forever.
