These staged photos\u2062 were disseminated widely across media \u200doutlets, contributing\u2063 to \u200ba sensational\u2062 portrayal\u200b of\u200c Trump&#8217;s actions. Additionally, court developments reveal that the\u2063 prosecution admitted \u2063to mismanaging the evidence, leading Judge Aileen Cannon to postpone the criminal\u200d case indefinitely to allow\u2064 for an independent document review. This delay \u200cmay impact \u2063the prosecution\u2019s ability to move forward with the trial ahead of the November election. Critics argue that the presentation and handling of these documents by the FBI were manipulative and politically motivated, aimed at damaging Trump&#8217;s reputation.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The FBI purchased glossy cover sheets to use in photos of authorities\u2019 unprecedented raid of former President Donald Trump\u2019s Mar-a-Lago residence.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, journalist Julie Kelly posted court documents on X showing Special Counsel Jack Smith \u201cadmitted the FBI added cover sheets to alleged classified documents found at MAL and took photos for evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis confirms my report from last month that the FBI doctored evidence to produce stunt photos of classified documents at [Mar-a-Lago],\u201d Kelly said.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<div lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>Now see if you notice the slight shift here.<\/p>\n<p>FBI agents allegedly found &#8220;loose classified cover sheets&#8221; in a blue leatherbound box in Trump&#8217;s office.<\/p>\n<p>Then suddenly\u2013some were attached to classified documents.<\/p>\n<p>Also why are FBI placeholder sheets in classified discovery?? <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/tckEpqz4qG\">pic.twitter.com\/tckEpqz4qG<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u2014 Julie Kelly \ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8 (@julie_kelly2) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/julie_kelly2\/status\/1805593057565257921?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 25, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>In May, District Court Judge <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/06\/25\/corporate-media-vilify-judge-aileen-cannon-for-doing-her-constitutional-duty\/#:~:text=The%20alleged%20intervention%20Cannon%20committed,is%20no%20crime%20or%20conflict.\">Aileen Cannon<\/a> ordered an indefinite postponement of the criminal classified documents case against the former president to allow an independent review of the documents in the case <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/06\/filings-jack-smith-tampered-with-evidence-in-get-trump-classified-documents-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tampered<\/a> with by prosecutors. Prosecutors admitted to mishandling the evidence triggering the delay demanded by the judge which now threatens the possibility for Smith\u2019s team to go to trial before the November election. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/julie_kelly2\/status\/1805593057565257921\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">According <\/a>to Kelly on Tuesday, the FBI\u2019s colored cover sheets were included in \u201cclassified discovery\u201d implicating prosecutors\u2019 desire to keep the details of the added documents concealed from the public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe FBI brought colored classified cover sheets to the raid under the guise of using them to substitute classified documents found within Trump\u2019s boxes,\u201d Kelly wrote on X. \u201cInstead, FBI agents attached the scary looking sheets to various files and took photos.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The images published by prosecutors became emblematic of the former president\u2019s apparent irresponsibility illustrated from the raid. The documents became the feature photos for sensational stories in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2022\/08\/31\/donald-trump-photo-top-secret-documents-mar-a-lago\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TMZ<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/heres-learned-dojs-photo-classified-documents-mar-lago\/story?id=89161286\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ABC News<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/photo-trump-documents-spread-over-mar-lago-carpet-sparks-ridicule-1738378\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Newsweek<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/fbi-evidence-photo-standard-practice-trump-mar-a-lago-search-2022-9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Business Insider,<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2022\/08\/31\/donald-trump-justice-department-photos-classified-documents-investigation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fortune<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2022\/aug\/31\/fbi-searched-trump-mar-a-lago-home-over-efforts-to-hide-classified-files-justice-department-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Guardian<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/americas\/us-politics\/trump-documents-fbi-raid-mar-a-lago-b2156250.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Independent<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/factcheck\/2022\/10\/25\/fact-check-roundup-the-fbis-search-of-donald-trumps-mar-a-lago-estate\/10511686002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">USA Today<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/politics\/politics-news\/donald-trump-hid-classified-documents-mar-a-lago-raid-1234584879\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rolling Stone.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Several weeks after federal stormtroopers combed through Trump\u2019s private residence, the New York Times published an apparent explainer on \u201cHow the Picture of Top Secret Folders at Mar-a-Lago Came About.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn Wednesday, Mr. Trump took to his social media site to say that \u2018the F.B.I., during the raid of Mar-a-Lago, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-says-fbi-threw-documents-haphazardly-all-over-the-floor-during-mar-a-lago-raid\/\" title=\"Trump Says FBI \u2018Threw Documents Haphazardly All Over the Floor\u2019 During Mar-a-Lago Raid\">threw documents haphazardly<\/a> all over the floor (perhaps pretending that it was me that did it!), and then started taking pictures of them for the public to see,&#8217;\u201d the Times reported. \u201cBut the genesis of the photograph appears to be in keeping with standard protocols for how federal agents handle evidence they come across in a search.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The image of top-secret classified documents, however, was fake news. <\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u2026also, remember someone leaked this picture to the press knowing it was fake news. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ceg9SgkaeP\">https:\/\/t.co\/ceg9SgkaeP<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Margot Cleveland (@ProfMJCleveland) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ProfMJCleveland\/status\/1805639705972576331?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 25, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The paper\u2019s reporting is the kind of defensive coverage federal prosecutors have come to expect from friendly outlets. Additional court filings show the FBI was <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/21\/fbi-was-authorized-to-use-deadly-force-against-trump-during-mar-a-lago-raid-court-filings-show\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">authorized <\/a>to use \u201cdeadly force\u201d against the former president during the Mar-a-Lago search. Trump is now facing 40 charges related to the alleged mishandling of classified documents from Smith\u2019s probe.<\/p>\n<p>President Joe Biden, on the other hand, escaped felony charges over his own mishandling of classified records in February after Special Counsel Robert Hur <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/08\/prosecutors-decline-to-charge-elderly-biden-over-poor-memory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">concluded <\/a>the incumbent was too senile to face a jury.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBiden would likely present himself to the jury, as he did during our interview with him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,\u201d read Hur\u2019s report. \u201cIt would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him \u2014 by then a former president well into his eighties \u2014 of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hur\u2019s team declined to press charges despite the Biden case including multiple troves of documents discovered across multiple locations including the president\u2019s \u201cgarage, offices, and basement den.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In his interview with Hur\u2019s investigation, Biden confused current events with the war in Iraq, forgot when he was vice president, and couldn\u2019t recall correct details around his son\u2019s 2015 death from brain cancer. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd his memory appeared hazy when describing the Afghanistan debate that was once so important to him,\u201d read the Hur report. <\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Tristan Justice is the western correspondent for The Federalist and the author of Social Justice Redux, a conservative newsletter on culture, health, and wellness.
