Her message comes as home prices across the country hit another record high in April.<\/p>\n<p>Sandwiched between high interest rates and a supply shortage, housing has quickly become a top subject with voters this election cycle. Last month, a <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/644690\/americans-continue-name-inflation-top-financial-problem.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Gallup survey<\/a> warned housing was second only to inflation to voters frustrated by the market\u2019s high prices. (AP Photo\/Jacquelyn Martin)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Biden administration\u2019s latest announcement expanding federally subsidized affordable housing marks a continuation of its strategy to bring down prices ahead of the 2024 election. <\/p>\n<p>When Biden signed his landmark American Rescue Plan Act into law in 2021, the bill had the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds program that included nearly $59 billion to states in flexible funding. Major cities across the country <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brookings.edu\/articles\/how-u-s-cities-are-using-federal-american-rescue-plan-act-funds-to-tackle-housing-affordability\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>have spent<\/a> nearly $7 billion of the SLFR funds toward affordable housing developments, according to the Brookings Institution. In states across the country, the Biden administration has touted expanding federally subsidized affordable housing as the key to increasing housing supply and lowering prices. <\/p>\n<p>Nevada, one of the states<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/state\/3046200\/nevadas-housing-crisis-where-the-problem-came-from-and-why-experts-dont-like-bidens-approach\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title> hit hardest<\/a> by the housing crisis, received $700 million from the American Rescue Plan Act, which was directly targeted to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nevadas-housing-crisis-where-the-problem-came-from-and-why-experts-dont-like-bidens-approach\/\" title=\"Nevada's housing crisis origins and expert criticism of Biden's strategy\">support major affordable housing projects<\/a>. Earlier this year, Biden made a trip to Reno, touting a new plan to expand \u201ctens of thousands\u201d of affordable housing units \u201cright here in Nevada\u201d by expanding the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/newsom-signs-bills-to-limit-single-family-zoning-in-california\/\" title=\"Newsom Signs Bills to Limit Single-Family Zoning in California\">low-income housing tax credits<\/a>. After the president made his affordable housing pitch in a swing state that will be critical to win this November, the governor said he believed Biden was taking the wrong approach. <\/p>\n<p>In April, Gov. Joe Lombardo (R-NV) said the Biden administration\u2019s \u201cexcessive federal spending\u201d was crippling the housing market in his state.
