The incident was revealed in an investigative report \u200dby the \u2063New Hampshire Department of Education. The report\u2064 detailed that the teacher \u200bhad claimed a\u2062 sick day, citing food\u200d poisoning, on the day she\u200d accompanied the student to\u200c the clinic, alleging that the student lacked\u200b support\u2064 from others.<\/p>\n<p>The teacher had been employed by Regional Services and Education Center Inc. in Amherst, New Hampshire, which operates schools for\u2062 children with\u200b special needs \u2064or learning disabilities. She faced\u200b immediate administrative leave, subsequently culminating in her dismissal \u200dfrom the institute once her contract concluded. The incident has \u200bprompted\u2062 discussions \u200don policy and ethics in educational settings, particularly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/conservatives-flip-school-boards-in-wave-of-education-wins\/\" title=\"Conservatives Flip School Boards In Wave Of Education Wins\">emphasizing parental rights<\/a> \u200cand\u200c the appropriateness \u200cof teachers&#8217; involvement in sensitive\u200b decisions\u2063 regarding their students.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/news\/\">  News <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/%20\"><span>Jack Davis<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   June 25, 2024 at 6:50am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>A New Hampshire teacher working for a school that serves students with disabilities has been fired after it was learned that she drove a pregnant student to get an abortion.<\/p>\n<p>The child\u2019s parents were not informed of the abortion, <a href=\"https:\/\/nhjournal.com\/nh-teacher-secretly-took-student-for-abortion-investigation-reveals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NH Journal<\/a> reported June 6, citing a New Hampshire Department of Education investigative report.<\/p>\n<p>The redacted document said the teacher had spent weeks counseling the student about her \u201coptions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The teacher claimed she was out sick with food poisoning the day she took the student to the clinic, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[The teacher] stated that the student didn\u2019t have anyone to support them so they offered to go with them,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p>The teacher was fired after the incident was discovered, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/2024\/06\/21\/metro\/nh-teacher-fired-pregnant-student-access-abortion-services-parental-rights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Boston Globe<\/a>, which said the teacher\u2019s last name \u201cwas included in the metadata for one of the documents,\u201d she was listed as having worked for Regional Services and Education Center Inc. in Amherst, New Hampshire. It did not name the teacher.<\/p>\n<p>The Globe said the agency is a nonprofit that runs small schools for students in grades 5-12 with special needs or learning disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>It said the teacher was put on administrative leave until her contract ended, at which point she was dismissed.<\/p>\n<p>The year in which she was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ny-orders-teachers-begin-keeping-big-secret-parents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fired<\/a> was redacted in the report.<\/p>\n<p>The Globe said the teacher had since been hired by the Jaffrey-Rindge Cooperative School District in southern New Hampshire, which voted in early May to give her a job beginning in August.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Teacher in N.H. fired for secretly helping pregnant student access abortion services <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/PgopAOsZNU\">https:\/\/t.co\/PgopAOsZNU<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Boston Globe (@BostonGlobe) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BostonGlobe\/status\/1805194215422386345?\">June 24, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Performing an abortion for an unemancipated minor under 18 is illegal in New Hampshire unless parents are provided 48 hours\u2019 notice. Massachusetts allows 16- and 17-year-olds to have an abortion without parental consent.<\/p>\n<p>The state report did not reveal the age of the student.<\/p>\n<p>The incident only came to light on April 22 when New Hampshire Education Commissioner Frank Edelblut posted an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.education.nh.gov\/news-and-media\/thank-god-someone-looking-out-children\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Op-Ed<\/a> on his department\u2019s website of allegations he believed needed to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/school-run-leftists-great-parents-hiring-private-security-children\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">investigated<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow should the department respond when a parent has reached out to express concern that a teacher had called a student a \u2018White supremacist\u2019 and confiscated their Trump flag while ignoring the student wearing the Pride flag? \u2026 Or when an art teacher, rather than teaching art, introduces children to Black Lives Matter and LGBTQ for Kids, without consulting with parents or school leadership,\u201d Edelblut wrote. \u201cShould we look the other way?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOr when, allegedly, an educator lies by calling in sick so they can take a student \u2014 without parental knowledge \u2014 to get an abortion. Should we turn a blind eye?\u201d he said<\/p>\n<p>Elected officials <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/federal-court-rejects-parents-attempt-shield-children-lgbt-reading-assignments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">expressed concern<\/a> about the incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am horrified to hear that a teacher in our New Hampshire schools felt the right way to help a pregnant student who felt unsupported in her pregnancy was to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/public-school-teacher-fired-for-calling-out-sick-to-take-student-to-abortion-clinic-during-school-hours\/\" title=\"Teacher Fired for Skipping School to Escort Student to Abortion Clinic\">research abortion facilities<\/a> and call out sick to take a student to an abortion rather than to help her speak with her parents and find support from her family,\u201d Republican state Rep. Erica Layon said, according to NH Journal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParents have the right to know everything that is happening to their child in school. Keeping secrets or going behind a parent\u2019s back is never good public policy,\u201d Republican state Sen. Tim Lang said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not good for the child, either,\u201d Lang said. \u201cIt teaches children, by the actions of \u2018trusted adults,\u2019 it\u2019s OK to be deceptive, which is not creating good citizens for our future.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>\u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d Those 12 words have been stuck in my head since I first read them. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Former Lt.
