Douglas Golden<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   June 25, 2024 at 5:45am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>While any close presidential race has unpredictable elements, there are several things that pretty much everyone agrees need to be in alignment for President Joe Biden to win re-election:<\/p>\n<p>Making sure minority voters keeps voting Democrat and come out on Election Day. No senior moments by the president during the debates or major speeches. And, most importantly, a huge fundraising advantage.<\/p>\n<p>In 2016, Hillary Rodham Clinton wasn\u2019t able to defeat GOP candidate Donald Trump despite a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/jaw-dropping-report-trump-pace-rake-4-times-raised-2016\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">big advantage in cash<\/a>. In 2020, that advantage was critical to Biden, who won a narrow victory despite a massive lead in <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Presidential_election_campaign_finance,_2020\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">campaign fundraising<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>At the very least, that advantage appeared to be lining up again in 2024. And then came the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-blows-bidens-fundraising-water-wallops-octogenarian-66\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/amid-reports-of-james-okeefe-being-ousted-project-veritas-issues-statement\/\" title=\"Amid Reports of James O\u2019Keefe Being Ousted, Project Veritas Issues Statement\">kangaroo court trial<\/a><\/a> in New York City, among other things.<\/p>\n<p>Now, data have indicated that whatever fundraising edge Biden had has been all but wiped out.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/06\/20\/biden-campaign-may-fundraising-total-trump.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNBC<\/a>, data shared by Biden\u2019s camp show the president\u2019s re-election campaign and the Democratic National Committee raised $85 million combined in May \u2014 dwarfed by the $141 million taken in by former President Trump\u2019s campaign and the Republication National Committee.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2024\/06\/23\/biden-trump-finances-00164566\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Politico<\/a> reported after conversations with those in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/swamp-exposed-lead-mueller-prosecutor-now-headlining-biden-fundraiser\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Biden\u2019s orbit<\/a> that \u201chis allies are bracing for a slugfest without the benefit of a fatter wallet, as financial reports showed Trump outraising Biden in back-to-back months, hauling in huge sums after his 34 felony convictions and erasing Biden\u2019s longstanding financial edge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thursday filings with the Federal Elections Commission indicated that, for the first time this race, Trump had an advantage in cash on hand, with his campaign and the RNC at $116.5 million compared to Biden\/DNC coffers at $91.6 million.<\/p>\n<p>The Politico report indicated that while the Biden camp was trying to play down Trump\u2019s advantage, panic was setting in.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Is Biden the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rigged-election-biden-won-477-counties-vs-obama-who-won-689-in-2012-yet-biden-magically-gained-13-million-more-votes-than-obama\/\" title=\"RIGGED ELECTION: Biden Won 477 Counties vs Obama Who Won 689 in 2012 - Yet Biden Magically Gained 13 Million More Votes Than Obama\">worst presidential candidate<\/a> of the 21st century?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThere was the strategy of raising all this money on the front end so we could have this huge edge,\u201d one anonymous Biden bundler told the publication.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe whole point of it was to come out with a sizable cash advantage and, you know, we\u2019re now even and it\u2019s June. \u2026 I have no other word for it other than \u2018depression\u2019 among Biden supporters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another said it was \u201cdisappointing, but not surprising.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those who went on the record insisted it was all part of the plan. They\u2019d expected Trump to start reeling in the big bucks once the Republican nomination race was out of the way and there was nothing he could do to make up for the early advantage Biden had racked up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-raise-alarm-after-trump-closes-fundraising-gap-against-biden-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Democrats raise alarm after Trump closes fundraising gap against Biden - Washington Examiner\">early money counted<\/a> because it allowed for Biden to build out all of these offices, which have been cranking along, and that\u2019s not something Trump can catch up on,\u201d Pennsylvania-based donor Alan Kessler told Politico.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrump can\u2019t get back February, March, April and May, when the Biden campaign was getting boots on the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur campaign, from the moment we\u2019ve started, is more focused on what we\u2019re doing with our resources, rather than trying to play a game of who\u2019s raising what,\u201d said Quentin Fulks, Biden\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/joe-biden-knows-he-messed-up-on-fracking-at-debate-and-is-now-doing-damage-control-the-daily-wire\/\" title=\"Joe Biden Knows He Messed Up On Fracking At Debate And Is Now Doing Damage Control | The Daily Wire\">deputy campaign manager<\/a>. \u201cThat is where our investments are going, directly into field [operations].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There are several problems with this position, however, even beyond the fact that there was never really a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/nikki-haley-fumes-nevada-primary-loss-says-trump-rigged-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">competitive Republican primary<\/a> to speak of.<\/p>\n<p>The first is that, if there was an early push to get boots on the ground in swing states with the campaign money that Biden was raking in, nobody was apparently informing swing state voters of it. Indeed, even as Biden has closed on Trump on a national level in the national <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolling.com\/polls\/president\/general\/2024\/trump-vs-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RealClearPolitics<\/a> polling average, he still remains behind \u2014 and, most importantly, polls of swing states consistently show Trump ahead in nearly all of them, in addition to potentially creating new battlegrounds <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-tied-biden-blue-state-hasnt-voted-republican-president-50-years\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in unlikely states<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Whatever boots are on the ground in purple states from Pennsylvania to Arizona and everywhere in between, in other words, have either been silent or useless.<\/p>\n<p>The second problem is that, again, the money advantage was always supposed to be taken for granted among Biden\u2019s people. In fact, it was a necessity.<\/p>\n<p>Whether it\u2019s the free exposure Trump seems to get simply because of his name and his following, or the fact he\u2019s learned to do more with less, this was supposed to be the third straight election cycle the GOP nominee was supposed to tackle with significantly reduced financial resources compared to his opponent. Given Biden\u2019s historic unpopularity, in fact, a huge cash advantage was more critical than ever.<\/p>\n<p>Democrat strategist Hank Sheinkopf, who talked to Politico for the piece, agreed that the overly rosy assessments from Biden\u2019s people were just that \u2014 and it was time for the left to start worrying.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat Democrats should worry about is that it\u2019s even within distance \u2014 that the money is going on at Trump\u2019s side at such a clip,\u201d he said. \u201cYou would think a guy who\u2019s convicted of crimes would be nowhere, but he\u2019s everywhere financially. And that is a real problem for Democrats.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe challenger shouldn\u2019t even be close on the money side, especially a guy who\u2019s convicted of felonies. How is this possible, is what the Democrats should be asking. \u2026 That\u2019s what they should be worried about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Precisely. With the swing-state numbers uniformly not going Biden\u2019s way and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cnn-data-analyst-cant-believe-latest-trump-biden-poll-numbers-like-speechless\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">minority poll results<\/a> for the president at historic lows for a Democrat, Biden\u2019s campaign needs liquidity \u2014 and a lot of it. He was counting on it, the same way he was counting on using the words \u201cconvicted criminal\u201d over and over again to tar-and-feather his opponent.<\/p>\n<p>Not only is that phrase now a badge of honor for Trump, considering how rigged the proceedings in Manhattan\u2019s criminal court appeared to the non-Democratic observer, but they\u2019ve also helped wipe out that financial advantage the Biden campaign was planning to lean on.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDepression,\u201d indeed, might be too mild of a word for these financial results \u2014 and if the numbers don\u2019t turn around fast, the president could <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-conviction-deals-fatal-blow-biden-makes-blue-states-look-like-swing-states-new-data-arrives\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">be in deeper trouble<\/a> than he already is.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>\u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d Those 12 words have been stuck in my head since I first read them. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Former Lt.
