Kennedy Jr.\u200b from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-and-anti-trump-republicans-unite-to-fight-third-party-ticket-bid\/\" title=\"Dems and anti-Trump GOP join forces against third-party bid.\">securing ballot access<\/a> in the 2024 presidential election. Their concerns\u200b seem focused on the potential that Kennedy&#8217;s candidacy could detract\u2063 from Joe Biden&#8217;s re-election prospects, especially \u2062in pivotal battleground states. According to CNN, efforts led \u200bby the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Clear Choice PAC include legal challenges filed in key\u200c states, alleging Kennedy&#8217;s campaign committed violations in petition procedures amongst other claims. So far, Kennedy has \u2062successfully achieved ballot access in seven states and claims to have sufficient signatures for 13 more, pending verification. Historical precedents show that similar strategies were used against \u200bother third-party or independent candidates, suggesting\u200b a pattern of behavior aimed at maintaining traditional party dominance and voter bases.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<figure>                         <\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Worried his campaign may hurt Joe Biden\u2019s reelection chances, Democrats are working overtime to prevent independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. from appearing on the 2024 ballot. <\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, left-wing mouthpiece CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/06\/22\/politics\/democrats-legal-challenges-rfk-jr-ballot\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> Democrats have accelerated efforts to deny Kennedy ballot access in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/inside-democrats-newest-election-takeover-scheme-report-unmasks-dark-money-group-youve-probably-never-heard-of\/\" title=\"Inside Democrats\u2019 Newest Election Takeover Scheme: Report Unmasks \u2018Dark Money\u2019 Group You\u2019ve Probably Never Heard Of\">key battleground states ahead<\/a> of the November contest. According to the report, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Clear Choice PAC, a pro-Biden super PAC \u201cfocused on countering third party candidates,\u201d have filed legal bids contesting Kennedy\u2019s ballot access in \u201cfour states in the last month.\u201d These <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/national-guard-cybersecurity-units-activated-in-14-states-ahead-of-midterms\/\" title=\"National Guard Cybersecurity Units Activated in 14 States Ahead of Midterms\">include battleground states<\/a> such as North Carolina and Nevada, as well as \u201cDemocratic strongholds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEach of the filings claims Kennedy violated state laws that stipulate how independent candidates\u00a0assemble the paperwork needed to qualify for a state\u2019s ballot,\u201d the report reads. \u201cDemocrats are alleging Kennedy\u2019s campaign misled voters to sign their petitions, improperly formed a minor party to ease ballot qualification and committed procedural errors in its petitions across five states.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2024\/us\/politics\/presidential-candidates-third-party-independent.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The New York Times<\/a>, Kennedy has officially gained ballot access in seven states, including Michigan. The independent candidate\u2019s campaign has claimed it\u2019s acquired enough signatures to appear on the ballot in 13 other states, although official certification is still pending. Among those states are North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Nevada. <\/p>\n<p>CNN admits the DNC\u2019s challenges are part of Democrats\u2019 \u201cbroader strategy\u201d to squash Kennedy\u2019s campaign \u201cin hopes of keeping the support of voters who backed Biden in 2020 but may consider Kennedy in November, potentially tilting the outcome of an election that\u2019s expected to be decided by narrow margins.\u201d The Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/10\/08\/us\/politics\/biden-trump-third-parties-no-labels.html?smid=tw-share\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">first reported<\/a> on Biden and Democrats\u2019 anti-democratic strategy against Kennedy and other third-party candidates in October. <\/p>\n<p>The tactics mirror those Democrats unsuccessfully used to boot former President Donald Trump off of 2024 ballots. Over the past year, leftist officials in Colorado and Maine employed an <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/08\/25\/why-twisting-the-14th-amendment-clause-to-get-trump-wont-hold-up-in-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">absurd legal theory<\/a> regarding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/constitution-conan\/amendment-14\/section-3\/disqualification-clause\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Section 3 of the 14th Amendment<\/a> to unilaterally remove Trump from their states\u2019 primary ballots. The U.S. Supreme Court unanimously <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/04\/unanimous-scotus-smacks-down-colorado-lawfare-states-have-no-power-to-kick-trump-off-ballot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">shot down<\/a> the authoritarian effort in March.<\/p>\n<h2>Rinse and Repeat<\/h2>\n<p>Despite their professed support for \u201cdemocracy,\u201d 2024 isn\u2019t the first presidential election year in which Democrats have deployed underhanded maneuvers to prevent left-leaning third party candidates from appearing on the ballot. <\/p>\n<p>During the 2022 midterms, for example, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee \u2014 which at the time was represented by <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/05\/10\/federal-judge-eviscerates-russia-collusion-hoaxer-marc-elias-for-aiming-to-undermine-new-york-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Russia collusion hoaxer Marc Elias<\/a>\u2019 law firm \u2014 went to extensive efforts to prevent the Green Party from appearing on North Carolina\u2019s fall ballot. This was done despite the Green Party submitting \u201cthousands\u201d of signatures to the state Board of Elections for its candidate to gain ballot access.<\/p>\n<p>As Victoria Marshall <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/09\/02\/democrats-are-the-real-threat-to-democracy-just-ask-the-green-party\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a> in these pages, Matthew Hoh, the Green Party candidate, \u201creceived text messages from the DSCC asking him to remove his signature from the petition and saying \u2018the Green Party takes votes away from Democrats, which helps Republicans win.\u2019\u201d\u00a0After North Carolina\u2019s Democrat-controlled elections board \u201cvoted not to certify the Green Party,\u201d a federal judge overturned the decision, allowing Hoh to appear on the 2022 ballot.<\/p>\n<p>These tactics were also on display in the 2020 election, in which Democrat-aligned groups successfully kept the Green Party off the November ballot in key states such as Wisconsin and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsws.org\/en\/articles\/2020\/09\/18\/penn-s18.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pennsylvania<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As noted by Federalist Editor-in-Chief Mollie Hemingway in her bestselling book, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Rigged-Media-Democrats-Seized-Elections\/dp\/168451259X\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Rigged: How the Media, Big Tech, and the Democrats Seized Our Elections<\/em><\/a>, the Green Party\u2019s nominee, Howie Hawkins, was denied ballot access in Wisconsin by the state elections commission on a technicality, despite the party \u201cfiling nearly twice the number of signatures necessary to appear on the ballot.\u201d Rather than ruling on \u201cwhether the election commission had violated the law,\u201d the Wisconsin Supreme Court \u201ccame up with a new standard that would get them the result they wanted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccording to the court, it was simply too close to the election to reprint ballots,\u201d Hemingway wrote. \u201cThe Green Party would be kept off the ballot because the court thought upholding the party\u2019s rights would be inconvenient.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During the 2020 contest, Biden won <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/election\/2020\/results\/state\/wisconsin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wisconsin<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/election\/2020\/results\/state\/pennsylvania\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pennsylvania<\/a> by 20,682 and 81,660 votes, respectively. <\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Shawn Fleetwood is a staff writer for The Federalist and a graduate of the University of Mary Washington.
