The image actually\u200c shows Cristhian Bahena Rivera, \u200cwho was convicted \u200cfor the 2018 murder of Mollie Tibbetts, not the suspect in Morin&#8217;s\u200c case. Morin said Mayorkas\u2019 remarks about her daughter were a \u201cpolitical statement,\u201d the outlet reported.<\/p>\n<p>The X image, which has garnered over two million views as of writing, purports to show the suspect accused of killing Morin. \u201cHe raped and killed a mother of 5. Deport or death penalty?\u201d the image\u2019s caption reads. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/will-smiths-movie-emancipation-leaves-georgia-over-voting-law-will-lose-15-million-in-tax-breaks\/\" title=\"Will Smith\u2019s Movie \u2018Emancipation\u2019 Leaves Georgia Over Voting Law, Will Lose  Million In Tax Breaks\">image shows<\/a> the alleged suspect wearing a black and white jumpsuit while handcuffed.<\/p>\n<p>The image does not show Morin\u2019s killer, however. The image, which originally stems from <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.ap.org\/editorial-photos-videos\/detail?itemid=67283c21b8a844c39f103419b09f31a1&#038;mediatype=photo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Associated Press\u2019 Newsroom<\/a>, shows Bahena Rivera, who was charged with first-degree murder in the 2018 death of college student Tibbetts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn this Aug. 22, 2018, file photo, Cristhian Bahena Rivera is escorted into the Poweshiek County Courthouse for his initial court appearance in Montezuma, Iowa. Rivera is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Mollie Tibbetts, who disappeared July 18 from Brooklyn, Iowa. Rivera pleaded not guilty during a court appearance Wednesday, Sept. 19,\u201d the image\u2019s caption indicates.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/suspect-arrested-2023-murder-mother-5-killed-hiking\/story?id=111157216\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ABC News<\/a>, Martinez-Hernandez has been arrested in connection with Morin\u2019s death. A photo of Martinez-Hernandez included in the ABC News article does not show any resemblance to the man seen in the viral X image. In addition, on June 21, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/fact-check\/posts-misidentify-man-convicted-iowa-killing-after-arrest-suspect-maryland-crime-2024-06-21\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reuters<\/a> reported the viral X image did not show Morin\u2019s alleged killer.<\/p>\n<p>Morin was killed while hiking in August 2023 and her body was found on the Ma &#038; Pa Heritage Trail, ABC News reported.
