Polls show lingering positive\u200c perceptions of Trump&#8217;s presidency compared \u200dto\u200c Biden&#8217;s, challenging the current \u200dadministration&#8217;s \u2063attempt to paint a thriving economy and discredit \u2062negative portrayals of Biden. Despite these challenges, Zogby assigns \u2064Biden a &#8220;B&#8221; for gaining modest \u200bmomentum in recent \u2062polls, though conservative analyst Jed \u2062Babbin \u200bstrongly disagrees, giving \u200cBiden an &#8220;F&#8221; \u200bfor various policy\u200b missteps and questioning Biden&#8217;s capability to perform well in \u2062the upcoming debate \u200bagainst Trump.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>This week\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/washington-secrets\/3046497\/white-house-report-card-biden-playing-catch-up-to-trump-polls-fundraising\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>White House Report Card<\/a> finds President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/3052214\/biden-student-loan-bank-bailouts-caused-most-of-deficit-increase\/\" title>Joe Biden<\/a>\u2019s reelection campaign at a turning point as he prepares for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3054927\/trump-biden-debate-fact-check-voters-approve\/\" title>first debate<\/a> with former President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Not only is it coming before either has been officially nominated to be their party\u2019s candidate in the fall, but it is the earliest one-on-one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/magazine-features\/3052736\/infirm-vs-intemperate-the-peril-and-promise-of-the-first-debate-for-biden-and-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gov-whitmer-media-caught-in-another-lie-anarchist-arrested-for-plot-to-kidnap-and-kill-whitmer-hates-president-trump-trump-is-a-tyrant-video\/\" title=\"Gov. Whitmer, Media Caught in Another Lie - Anarchist Arrested For Plot to Kidnap and Kill Whitmer Hates President Trump, 'Trump is a Tyrant' (VIDEO)\">presidential debate<\/a><\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/twice-failed-candidate-beto-orourke-considering-run-for-texas-governor\/\" title=\"Twice-Failed Candidate Beto O\u2019Rourke Considering Run For Texas Governor\">recent memory<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And while the election has been essentially tied for months, no matter what happens to either candidate, Democratic pollster John Zogby, one of our two graders, said that the debate could\u00a0finally break apart the deadlocked race.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUltimately, where we stand right now is at par, a slight edge to Donald Trump,\u201d Zogby said in his weekly podcast with his son and fellow pollster Jeremy Zogby.<\/p>\n<p>Still, John Zogby said that it is Biden who needs more of a breakout moment to get ahead of Trump and stay there. \u201cAt this point in time, it\u2019s tough. It looks very tough, making that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/debates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>debate<\/a> on June 27 even more important,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>That is in part because reelections are typically about how voters feel about the incumbent, not the challenger. And in Biden\u2019s case, they don\u2019t feel good. No campaign theme he has rolled out yet has worked, certainly not the administration\u2019s claims that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/economy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>economy<\/a> is booming and people are rolling in money.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/campaign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>campaign<\/a> this weekend is now trying out a different approach, claiming that Trump was a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/disgrace-to-his-office-ben-shapiro-calls-for-bidens-impeachment-resignation\/\" title=\"\u2018Disgrace To His Office\u2019: Ben Shapiro Calls For Biden\u2019s Impeachment, Resignation\">bad president<\/a> who is going to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/uc-berkeley-spends-25-million-a-year-on-diversity-and-inclusion\/\" title=\"UC Berkeley Spends  Million A Year On \u2018Diversity And Inclusion\u2019\">make things worse<\/a>. Polls, however, show that people have a good memory of the state of the nation under Trump, certainly far better than they see Biden\u2019s America.<\/p>\n<p>Still, added Zogby in grading Biden\u2019s week a \u201cB,\u201d there are signs that Biden is picking up some momentum in polls that suggest the election is dead even.<\/p>\n<p>Conservative analyst Jed Babbin doesn\u2019t buy that, however, and dished out one of his regular \u201cF\u2019s\u201d to Biden\u2019s week. He highlighted the efforts by the administration to tell voters that all the videos they\u2019ve seen of the president appearing lost and meandering are false. Because of those videos, the president is going to have to give a better performance at the debate, and there are reports, for example, that he\u2019s even practicing how to stand for 90 minutes, which is the length of the debate, to be hosted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/CNN\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>CNN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>John Zogby<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Grade: B<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Three new polls show President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Joe Biden<\/a> now \u2018leading\u2019 former President Donald Trump by one or two points. Four new polls also show Biden\u2019s overall approval rating average at 43%, a marked increase from just a week ago.<\/em><\/p>\n<figure>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Zogby Report | 06.18.24 - The State of the Race\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YLXP8gwLbPA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen    style=\"display:none\"><\/iframe> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p><em>He appears to be making some modest gains with both independents and bringing at least some black voters home. His approval numbers have also jumped on his handling the economy, by far the top issue in the race.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>While the race is tight and Trump still holds leads in key battleground states, these numbers mean that Biden goes into the very important and sure-to-be-watched debate on Thursday with some modest momentum.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jed Babbin<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Grade: F<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Stumbling and bumbling around, President Joe Biden managed to give amnesty to 500,000 illegal migrants, continued to slow (and probably stop) arms shipments to Israel and his $42+ billion plan to get high-speed internet to rural citizens is tied up in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">red tape<\/a> and hasn\u2019t provided\u00a0 any new access in three years. In short, it was another week in which the Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/White-House\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>White House<\/a> would have earned a grade lower than \u201cF\u201d if there were one.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Biden\u2019s plan to grant amnesty to 500,000 migrant spouses of American citizens is another way to a path to citizenship \u2014 and voting rights for illegal immigrants. Which, of course, is what Biden wants. And there is, seemingly every day, another report of an incident in which an illegal alien who crossed into the U.S. during Biden\u2019s first term has been caught or accused of rape, murder or some other horrible crime.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The highlight of the week was the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Los-Angeles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Los Angeles<\/a> fundraiser, where Biden appeared with former President Barack Obama. After a discussion, Biden had to be led off the stage by Obama, who grabbed Ol\u2019 Joe\u2019s wrist. The White House Memory Hole crew insisted it never happened. It will be interesting to see how he can perform for 90 minutes in the debate against former President Donald Trump on Thursday.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Our national deficit is growing thanks to Bidenomics. (So is the combined effect of inflation and our national debt. The deficit is the difference between taxes collected and the amount the government spends.) The deficit reportedly rose by 27% in four months this year. Too much spending by Biden is the only cause.<\/em><\/p>\n<figure>\n<div>\n<blockquote data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">That\u2019s a wrap on record-setting Democratic fundraiser for Joe Biden\u2019s reelection campaign (netting $28M). And Biden is bashing Israel, urging it to de-escalate the coming war with Hezbollah, the Lebanon militia which is Iran\u2019s most powerful proxy. As you\u2019d expect, he\u2019s saying nothing about how Iran or Hezbollah should calm things down.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The rural internet plan \u2014 costing more than $40 billion \u2014 hasn\u2019t connected a single rural home to the high-speed internet promised three years ago. The problem? Biden-generated red tape.
