More than a\u200d dozen names have been considered, including \u2062South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, who \u2062became less favorable after a controversial incident. The focus now shifts among three \u200dcandidates: Senator Marco Rubio (FL), Senator J.D. Vance (OH), and Governor Doug\u200b Burgum (ND). However,\u2063 previous favorites like Senator \u200dTim Scott (SC) and Representative Elise Stefanik (NY)\u200c are still potential contenders. Trump aims to select \u200bthe most suitable candidate for his campaign and future administration.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>With less than a month away from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/republican\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>GOP <\/a>National Convention in Milwaukee, former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s advisers, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-find-midterm-strategy-after-months-of-no-direction-save-democrat-governors\/\" title=\"Democrats Find Midterm Strategy After Months of No Direction: Save Democrat Governors\">high-level donors<\/a> and supporters, and members of his family are all pulling the Republican nominee in different directions for who they think would be best to run on Trump\u2019s ticket as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/vice-president\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>vice president<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>At one point, there were more than a dozen names being floated around as possible vice presidential contenders, including South Dakota governor Kristi Noem who fell from grace when she revealed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/2981044\/noem-recounts-gruesome-tale-about-killing-her-dog\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>she shot and killed her family\u2019s dog<\/a> because he was a \u201clousy hunter.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>While Trump\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kari-lake-responds-to-claim-she-could-be-trumps-2024-vice-president\/\" title=\"Kari Lake Responds to Claim She Could Be Trump\u2019s 2024 Vice President\">vice president pick<\/a> is still up for grabs, those closest to him are either focused on one of three potential candidates which include Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) or North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R).  <\/p>\n<p>This doesn\u2019t mean that Trump\u2019s previous top contenders like Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), who was the keynote speaker at the National Republican Congressional Committee annual dinner, or Rep Elise Stefanik (R-New York), who has been constantly at to bat for Trump in all of his legal battles are off the table. While Trump\u2019s top confidants are drawn to Rubio, Vance, and Burgum for different reasons, Trump is looking to pick a vice president who will be the best choice for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Republican-Party\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Republican Party<\/a> to run for president in 2028, a source close to Trump had told CNN.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly Anne Conway, former counselor to Trump who now dines with him at least once a week, has declined to speak on her support for Rubio with CNN but has publicly been pushing for a candidate who can help win Trump the non-White vote. Those close to Trump say that Conway has been the most persistent of Rubio as a pick.<\/p>\n<p>Donald Trump Jr. and Steve Bannon have both been strongly advocating Trump in their push for freshman senator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/jd-vance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>J.D. Vance<\/a>. Trump Jr. helped rally and fundraise for Vance in 2022 and told NewsMax in January his strong support for Vance as a vice president. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d love to see a J.D. Vance,\u201d Trump Jr. told Newsmax in January. \u201cYou actually need a fighter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Even Kamala Harris\u2019 former communications director Ashley Etienne, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/alaynatreene\/status\/1802714326219821464\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>said<\/a> during an interview with CNN that she thinks JD Vance \u201cwould pose the greatest threat\u201d to Harris in a VP debate. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, some, like media mogul <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Rupert-Murdoch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Rupert Murdoch<\/a>, are advocating for Doug Burgum, a lesser-known politician, to be serving on his ticket.
