Contrary to claims that the shooter had no political motives,\u200c evidence suggests grievances related to\u200c transgender issues and political responses to them\u200d fueled her \u200dactions.\u2063 The incident raises significant questions about the responsibilities of mental health professionals and the broader implications of transgender treatments at Vanderbilt, especially in light of financial incentives highlighted in recent exposes.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>The transgender-identifying shooter who killed six at a Christian school last year confessed her homicidal urges to personnel at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, but personnel there may not have taken steps to prevent the tragedy, according to a new report.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/tennesseestar.com\/covenant-school-shooting\/mnpd-review-of-vanderbilt-university-medical-center-records-covenant-killer-audrey-hale-had-thoughts-of-killing-dad-struggles-with-mental-health-recent-thoughts-of-going-into-a-school-and-s\/tpappert\/2024\/06\/19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tennessee Star<\/a> reported Wednesday that it has obtained a file called \u201cVandy Psych\u201d consisting of notes taken by a police officer who reviewed documents from the Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital about the shooter\u2019s treatment after the tragedy. The patient was reportedly seen by mental health doctors at Vanderbilt for 22 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThoughts of killing Dad in and struggles with mental health,\u201d the document says. \u201cRecent thoughts of going into a school and shooting a bunch of people\u2026 Homicidal thoughts with a plan. Misunderstood and felt like she needed to prove a point.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tennessee State Code <a href=\"https:\/\/law.justia.com\/codes\/tennessee\/2021\/title-33\/chapter-3\/part-2\/section-33-3-206\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">33-3-206<\/a> requires mental health professionals to \u201cwarn of, or take precautions to protect the identified victim from the service recipient\u2019s violent behavior\u201d if \u201ca service recipient has communicated to a qualified mental health professional or behavior analyst an actual threat of bodily harm against a clearly identified victim\u201d and is \u201clikely to carry out the threat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The specificity of the shooter\u2019s admissions was not clear from the reported sections of the document. The Star said a source told it that Metro Nashville Police Department Chief John Drake privately said he believes a violation occurred.<\/p>\n<p>The Tennessee statute at the time carried no criminal penalty, but victims could seek money from the healthcare providers in court \u2014 except that the statute of limitations may have already passed, The Star said. Tennessee has since passed a stricter law requiring mental health personnel to alert police of threats.<\/p>\n<p>Drake broke a promise to release the transgender killer\u2019s manifesto as the FBI pressured it to conceal it, according to an FBI memo also obtained by The Star. The writings even said she\u2019d \u201ckill\u201d to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/leading-transgender-health-association-releases-new-guidelines\/\" title=\"Leading Transgender Health Association Releases New Guidelines\">obtain puberty blockers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) figures prominently into the debate over transgender treatments for Tennessee youngsters.<\/p>\n<p>In a 2018 video exposed by The Daily Wire in 2022, VUMC Clinic for Transgender Health\u2019s Dr. Shayne Sebold Taylor told young doctors \u201cfemale-to-male bottom surgeries\u201d were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/huge-money-maker-video-reveals-vanderbilts-shocking-gender-care-threats-against-dissenting-doctors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201chuge money makers\u201d<\/a> that could bring in \u201cup to $100,000\u201d for the hospital, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cdc-shortens-recommended-isolation-and-quarantine-periods\/\" title=\"CDC Shortens Recommended Isolation and Quarantine Periods\u00a0\">health law expert<\/a> and pediatrician Ellen Wright Clayton said \u201cIf you don\u2019t want to do this kind of work, don\u2019t work at Vanderbilt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tennessee lawmakers banned sex-change treatments for minors in response, but federal judge Eli Richardson issued an injunction partially pausing enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>In his <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.tnmd.94244\/gov.uscourts.tnmd.94244.167.0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ruling<\/a>, he noted that \u201cDr. Pinson, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Health System Officer at VUMC, has testified that \u2018[s]hould enforcement of [SB1\u2019s] provisions prohibiting Hormone Therapy be deferred, delayed, or enjoined, VUMC would continue to provide Hormone Therapy consistent with the prevailing standards of care for persons with gender dysphoria to those minor patients of VUMC.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, an appeals court then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/tennessee-law-protecting-kids-from-trans-procedures-to-take-full-effect-after-court-victory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">undid<\/a> Richardson\u2019s ruling.<\/p>\n<p>John Howser, a spokesman for VUMC, told The Daily Wire that \u201cunder federal (HIPAA) and state privacy rules and regulations, without permission, VUMC is not in a position to confirm or deny that any particular individual presently receives or previously received health care from VUMC.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAdditionally, VUMC follows all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
