He was 56 years old.<\/p>\n<p>Wily\u2019s death was confirmed on Hawaii\u2019s KITV 4 Island News by musician Lina Girl Langi, one of his close friends.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/angel-buffy-actress-charisma-carpenter-accuses-joss-whedon-of-misconduct\/\" title=\"\u2018Angel,\u2019 \u2018Buffy\u2019 Actress Charisma Carpenter Accuses Joss Whedon Of Misconduct\">heavy heart<\/a> that I share the news of the passing of a Hawaii celebrity who was also a family friend,\u201d Langi said. \u201cTaylor Wily, former wrestler, MMA fighter and actor passed away today in Hurricane, Utah.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe would look physically menacing until you just folded right into a hug, and that was it,\u201d she added. \u201cMy heart is breaking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Michael J. Henderson, Wily\u2019s manager, <a href=\"https:\/\/ew.com\/taylor-wily-dead-hawaii-five-0-forgetting-sarah-marshall-8667237#:~:text=Taylor%20Wily%2C%20the%20Samoan%20actor,He%20was%2056.\">told<\/a> Entertainment Weekly that he died from natural causes and no further details would be available at this time.<\/p>\n<p>Wily, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/no-spike-in-florida-coronavirus-cases-despite-no-mask-mandate\/\" title=\"No Spike in Florida Coronavirus Cases Despite No Mask Mandate\">born<\/a> Teila Tuli, was born in Hawaii in 1968 and started his career in the Japanese sport of sumo wrestling in the 1980s and had a successful run, becoming \u201cthe first foreign-born wrestler to win the championship in the third-highest Makushita division,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/hawaii-five-0-actor-taylor-wily-dead-at-56-8667178\">People<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He later went on to fight in the first UFC fight in 2000, losing to UFC fighter Gerard Gordeau.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1712932862202000&#038;usg=AOvVaw0plT8RRdMy9XUpIhocnjQS\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Despite his enormous size and previous career as a professional fighter, he was widely remembered by those who knew him as a \u201cgentle giant.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wily appeared in seven episodes of the original \u201cMagnum P.I.\u201d and appeared in the 2008 romantic comedy \u201cForgetting Sarah Marshall.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He is best known for his role as Kamekona on CBS\u2019s remake of \u201cHawaii Five-O,\u201d where he appeared in more than 170 episodes during the show\u2019s 10-year run from 2010 to 2020.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHawaii Five-O\u201d and \u201cMagnum P.I.\u201d executive producer Peter Lenkov posted on social media that he was \u201cdevastated\u201d and \u201cheartbroken\u201d by the news.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou came in with a towel on your head mopping up sweat, and I was smitten. You charmed me into making you a regular\u2026 on the show\u2026 and in my life. You were family.
