His lawyers filed the application to the Supreme Court after a federal appellate court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/3054464\/court-rejects-steve-bannons-appeal-delay-prison-sentence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"ruled\">ruled<\/a> 2-1 against an emergency appeal Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. Bannon respectfully requests that his application be granted and that he remain on release pending the conclusion of his appeals, including a petition for a writ of certiorari, if timely sought,\u201d the application filed Friday said. \u201cIf necessary, Mr. Bannon respectfully requests that the court issue an administrative stay of the July 1 surrender date to allow for sufficient time to consider this matter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court has requested that the Department of Justice, which has opposed Bannon\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/3048417\/justice-department-court-deny-steve-bannon-prison-delay\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"previous\">previous<\/a> attempts to delay his prison sentence, file its response to Bannon\u2019s latest application by 4 p.m. EDT Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Former Trump adviser Peter Navarro was also convicted of contempt of Congress charges after defying subpoenas from the Jan. 6 committee, but Navarro reported to prison for his four-month sentence in March.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bannon has continued to fight going to prison, but his efforts have been unsuccessful so far.
