The change has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bernie-sanders-pressures-biden-to-cut-military-aid-to-israel-by-10-billion\/\" title=\"Bernie Sanders urges Biden to reduce Israel's military aid by B\">sparked significant discussion<\/a> and backlash, including from\u200d veterans critical of the perceived erosion of \u200ctraditional values at the institution.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>In its effort to blast \u201cwoke\u201d military policies, a Washington-based legal watchdog this week sued the Pentagon for documents detailing the hows and whys of the U.S. Military Academy\u2019s decision to delete its famous motto <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2921117\/west-point-drops-duty-honor-country-from-its-military-statement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">\u201cDuty, Honor, Country\u201d<\/a> from its mission statement.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/JW-v.-DOD-West-Point-complaint-01757.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Judicial Watch<\/a> told Secrets that the move came after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westpoint.edu\/news\/community-news\/message-the-61st-superintendent\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">West Point<\/a> refused to turn over information about the change. As a result, the group filed a Freedom of Information Act <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/documents\/jw-v-dod-west-point-complaint-01757\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">lawsuit<\/a> earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven the woke virus infecting West Point, deleting the words \u2018Duty, Honor, Country\u2019 from its mission statement has sparked justified concern about what the Army\u2019s rising leadership is being taught at the United States Military Academy. Gen. Steven Gilland<\/a>, the mission statement now reads, \u201cTo build, educate, train, and inspire the Corps of Cadets to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/west-point-drops-duty-honor-country-from-its-military-statement\/\" title=\"West Point removes 'Duty, Honor, Country' from official military ethos\">commissioned leaders<\/a> of character committed to the Army Values and ready for a lifetime of service to the Army and Nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gilland said the change was developed over a year and a half and better explains the role of West Point.
