To qualify for residence, individuals\u2062 must provide a photo ID and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/doj-investigating-spacexs-hiring-practices-after-non-u-s-citizen-alleges-discrimination\/\" title=\"DOJ Investigating SpaceX\u2019s Hiring Practices After Non-U.S. Citizen Alleges Discrimination\">social security card<\/a>, which\u200d contrasts\u200d with the policy that Los Angeles voters do not need to show photo ID to cast their ballots. This development is part \u200bof broader efforts to address the city&#8217;s severe homelessness crisis, exacerbated by issues like open drug use and lack of affordable housing.\u200c Despite extensive spending and multiple \u200bnew programs aimed at mitigating homelessness, there is concern \u2062that the number of homeless individuals might continue to \u2062rise due to factors\u200b such as \u2062evictions and the cessation of COVID-19 aid.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<figure>                         <\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Los Angeles just opened a state-of-the-art luxury hotel for the city\u2019s homeless and, unlike voting, will require a photo ID to participate.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, city officials <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=dssv4NZaL_8&#038;list=RDNSdssv4NZaL_8&#038;start_radio=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">opened<\/a> the brand new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/massive-california-residential-tower-homeless-private-rooms-gym-cafe-amenities\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">19-story<\/a> residential high-rise with 278 units that <a href=\"https:\/\/californiaglobe.com\/fr\/la-homeless-tower-cost-as-much-as-5-star-hotel-to-build\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cost as much<\/a> to build as a five-star resort. To lease an apartment in the downtown luxury tower, however, homeless residents must <a href=\"https:\/\/emphasyshls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2024\/01\/Tower-1-Lease-Up-Flyer-FINAL-compressed_2-002.pdf\">provide<\/a> their \u201cphoto identification, and social security card.\u201d Repeat Los Angeles voters, however, don\u2019t need any photo ID to turn in their ballots.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">To lease one of these apartments in the new homeless high rise, you have to show PHOTO ID and SOCIAL SECURITY CARD. Residents must only present their identification for their first-time voting.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/californiaglobe.com\/fr\/la-homeless-tower-cost-as-much-as-5-star-hotel-to-build\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">According<\/a> to the California Globe, a conservative statewide paper, \u201cThe project cost about $165 million dollars and the studio apartments are essentially the equivalent of what one would find at a decent \u2018extended stay\u2019 hotel \u2014 large room kitchenette, bed, tables, chairs, bathroom, TV, etc.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt $594,000 a unit, that works out be a bit over $1,000 per-square-foot to build,\u201d the Globe reported. <\/p>\n<p>Residents will enjoy access to all of the premium amenities guests can expect at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/houston-rockets-owner-tilman-fertitta-slams-enhanced-unemployed-benefits-americans-have-no-incentive-to-work\/\" title=\"Houston Rockets Owner Tilman Fertitta Slams Enhanced Unemployed Benefits: Americans Have No Incentive To Work\">high-end hotels<\/a>, including a gym, caf\u00e9, soundproof music studio, art room, business center, and a library.<\/p>\n<p>L.A.\u2019s far-left Mayor Karen Bass acknowledged the controversy around the homeless perks in a press conference at Wednesday\u2019s ceremony to inaugurate the project. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe amenities that are here I know are going to be talked about in a way that is not so positive,\u201d she said. \u201cA gym, music, art, recreation are all the things that are needed to heal that are all a part of mental health.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Los Angeles homeless problem has become a national embarrassment for California\u2019s largest city, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/its-now-almost-impossible-to-get-arrested-for-drugs-in-washington-state\/\" title=\"It\u2019s Now Almost Impossible To Get Arrested For Drugs In Washington State\">open-air drug<\/a> use and tent encampments saturating the city of nearly <a href=\"https:\/\/data.census.gov\/profile\/Los_Angeles_city,_California?g=160XX00US0644000\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">3.9 million<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In December, Bass, a former Democrat congresswoman from the area, <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/los-angeles-homeless-population-karen-bass-733fc2246efdfd46c9c7737b4b208960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pledged<\/a> to \u201cbuild a new Los Angeles.\u201d But according to the Associated Press, \u201cHomeless numbers in Los Angeles could surge again, even as thousands move to temporary shelter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBillions of dollars have been spent on homelessness in the region, and an array of new programs are in place,\u201d the AP reported. \u201cBut the mayor says it\u2019s possible that the number of homeless people will continue to increase, in part because of evictions and the end of COVID-19 aid for low-income households. While Bass has made gains, the city\u2019s homelessness challenge can seem insoluble.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The homeless crisis on the West Coast has only become worse over the last year. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/los-angeles-hot-water-spending-hundreds-millions-worsening-homeless-crisis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">According<\/a> to Fox News, \u201cDespite more taxpayer dollars at work, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/in-depth-in-blue-colorado-gop-makes-unprecedented-deal-with-libertarians-to-break-stronghold\/\" title=\"GOP and Libertarians join forces in Colorado to break political stronghold.\">homeless population continues<\/a> to rise in the Golden State.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s up 6%, compared to last year, and has the highest number of homeless people living outdoors in the country,\u201d Fox News reported. \u201cAbout 181,000 people were considered homeless in the state\u2019s 2023 count, and most are suffering from drug addiction or mental illnesses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>High living costs and an ever-growing homeless crisis have led residents to report a lower quality of life in the University of California Los Angeles\u2019 index survey. In interviews with nearly 1,700 residents, \u201cresults for 2024 tied the lowest score in the survey\u2019s nine-year history with a rating of 53\u201d according to KTLA, a local California news outlet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was just the second time the result has been below the scale\u2019s midpoint of 55, matching a 53 in 2022.
