Much of that has come in the form of attention to just how much the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/complicit-a-field-guide-to-the-lack-of-infrastructure-funding-leftist-carveouts-in-the-1-2-trillion-so-called-bipartisan-infrastructure-bill\/\" title=\"'Complicit': A Field Guide to the Lack of Infrastructure Funding, Leftist Carveouts in the .2 Trillion So-Called Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill\">digital asset space<\/a> has expanded.<\/p>\n<p>The price of bitcoin has ballooned 145% in the past year alone, far outpacing investments in traditional asset classes. In the past five years, it has grown 443%, offering stakeholders tremendous returns.<\/p>\n<p>As bitcoin has grown in popularity, so too has it intersected with the political and regulatory realm. The SEC under Chairman Gary Gensler has been very tough on the industry. The SEC enforcement actions against crypto companies have <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/crypto\/2024\/01\/24\/crypto-enforcement-actions-sec-gary-gensler-new-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nearly doubled<\/a> since Gensler took over in 2021, for instance.<\/p>\n<p>Morgenstern touched on some of that. He said that at the presidential level, President Joe Biden\u2019s administration has been \u201cquite hostile\u201d toward the industry. Still, the group hopes to cultivate voters all across the political spectrum to leverage their power on the matter at hand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s emerged as a presidential year issue, but it certainly cuts well across party lines,\u201d Morgenstern said.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, the bitcoin voting bloc, while small, is growing and growing in attention. Former President Donald Trump, who once called bitcoin a \u201cscam,\u201d has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/finance-and-economy\/3020936\/trump-embraces-cryptocurrency-in-presidential-bid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>recently embraced<\/a> the crypto space and is now trying to paint himself as a champion of the industry in the rematch against Biden.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo the nation\u2019s 50 million crypto holders, I say this: With your vote, I will keep [Sen.] Elizabeth Warren and her goons away from your bitcoin,\u201d Trump told a crowd at the Libertarian Party\u2019s national convention last month, drawing a contrast to the Massachusetts Democrat, who is one of the industry\u2019s biggest opponents.<\/p>\n<p>David McIntosh, president of Club for Growth, told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> at the time that embracing bitcoin is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wisconsin-senate-hopeful-counters-democratic-attacks-on-wealth-in-new-ad-cant-be-bought\/\" title=\"Wisconsin Senate candidate responds to Democratic critiques on his wealth with a simple message in recent ad: 'Unbuyable\">savvy political move<\/a> for Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPart of that is politics. It\u2019s seeing the opportunity to distinguish himself with younger voters, with voters that are engaged \u2026 in crypto,\u201d McIntosh said of Trump\u2019s speech at the Libertarian Party\u2019s convention. \u201cBecause Biden has such a terrible record on it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a landing video on the new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitcoinvoterproject.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>group\u2019s website<\/a>, the narrator of the sleekly designed ad argues that issues like the country\u2019s soaring national debt and a struggling financial system \u201cdemand the same kind of innovation that has made this country great.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The advertisement for the Bitcoin Voter Project argues that bitcoin offers a secure and straightforward way for consumers to protect their wealth, noting that the cryptocurrency\u2019s inherent design prevents it from being devalued by the inflation currently plaguing the economy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBitcoin is the currency of the future, and that future is now,\u201d the ad blares.<\/p>\n<p>Morgenstern said that some data suggest a notable share of voters are going to actively seek out the candidates\u2019 platforms on crypto policy in deciding who to vote for in the coming election. The Bitcoin Voter Project aims to help encourage such investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Jayson Browder, a board member of the Bitcoin Voter Project, told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> that a lot of the group\u2019s work is going to be focused on research and education. He pointed out that there are other groups in the digital asset space that are funding specific political campaigns, but said that his group is specifically grassroots education and research.<\/p>\n<p>Browder said that the group is \u201cbitcoin values focused.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I think that is important for our space as we continue to grow and mature as an industry,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>While the Bitcoin Voter Project just launched in June, it has been in the works for months now, according to its founders.
